नेपथ्य - Nepathya - Dashavtar Documentary (2022) | TVC
Dashavtar is an 800-year-old traditional form of drama that is immensely popular in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra and parts of North Goa. There are around 90 groups that are performing this art form, as of 2022, with 9 being celebrated, traditional groups. These groups travel to towns and villages to perform their shows, depicting stories from Hindu mythology.
TVC's team got in touch with one of these groups called Dattamauli Dashavtar Theatre group and attended one of their shows in the Sindhudurg. We set up an interview with the co-founder of the said group, a gentleman by the name of Dattaprasad Shenai who explained to us the history, process, present status, and the future of the Dashavtar art form. He also spoke about the troubles artists such as himself face and how they coped with the impact of the pandemic.
'Nepathya' is a documentary based on this storied art form. We found this niche form of drama to be incredibly fascinating and we intend to showcase its rich history and tradition to a wider audience. We hope you enjoy this second project of ours and pray that our efforts contribute to the popularity of Dashavtar outside of its local region, in any shape or form.
दशावतार हे 800 वर्ष जुने नाटकाचे पारंपारिक प्रकार आहे जे महाराष्ट्रातील सिंधुदुर्ग जिल्ह्यात आणि उत्तर गोव्याच्या काही भागात प्रचंड लोकप्रिय आहे. 2022 पर्यंत सुमारे 90 गट आहेत जे हा कला प्रकार सादर करत आहेत, 9 पारंपारिक गट आहेत. हे गट हिंदू पौराणिक कथांचे चित्रण करून त्यांचे शो करण्यासाठी शहरे आणि खेड्यांमध्ये प्रवास करतात.
TVC च्या टीमने दत्तमाऊली दशावतार थिएटर ग्रुप नावाच्या या गटांपैकी एकाशी संपर्क साधला आणि सिंधुदुर्गातील त्यांच्या एका शोला हजेरी लावली. आम्ही या समूहाचे सह-संस्थापक, दत्तप्रसाद शेणई नावाचे गृहस्थ यांची मुलाखत घेतली ज्यांनी आम्हाला दशावतार कलाप्रकाराचा इतिहास, प्रक्रिया, सद्यस्थिती आणि भविष्याविषयी माहिती दिली. स्वत:सारख्या कलाकारांना कोणत्या त्रासाला सामोरे जावे लागते आणि त्यांनी साथीच्या रोगाचा कसा सामना केला याबद्दलही त्यांनी सांगितले.
'नेपथ्य' हा माहितीपट याच कलेवर आधारित आहे. आम्हाला नाटकाचा हा विशिष्ट प्रकार आश्चर्यकारकपणे आकर्षक वाटला आणि त्याचा समृद्ध इतिहास आणि परंपरा व्यापक प्रेक्षकांसमोर दाखवण्याचा आमचा हेतू आहे. आम्हाला आशा आहे की तुम्ही आमच्‍या या दुसर्‍या प्रकल्‍पाचा आनंद घ्याल आणि आमच्‍या प्रयत्‍नांमुळे दशावतारच्‍या स्थानिक क्षेत्राच्‍या बाहेर, कोणत्याही आकारात किंवा स्‍वरूपात त्‍याच्‍या लोकप्रियतेला हातभार लागावा अशी प्रार्थना करतो.
