Rich and Laura share the story with 140 people having locally produced dinner with Outstanding in the Field
To be precise , the low C part may have a bit craving , that’s it.
Parallel turns, yes. Carving turns no.
It’s true they aren’t purely carving turns which would necessarily be much higher speed turns on this slope, so they are a mix of edging and skidding to get to turn completion in medium radius while attempting to use the edged performance of the skis to impel the transition to the next turn. Can one do perfectly carved turns on a very steep slope, steeper than this one? I think that results in much higher speed. Can one be “carving” rather than slipping in fall line short radius? Yes but not without some steering and slipping
@@andyhalliday those were just mid radius skidded turns. It's either a carved turn (2 tracks) or another type of turn.
@@simonburke4330 I’m old school (CSIA Level 4, CSCF Level 3 from the 70’s) when we didn’t have the shorter super side cut skis that make purely carved 2-track turns easier to accomplish and apparently created a rather strict definition of carved vs skidding turns in the present day. Then we raced slalom while “carving” in order to optimize speed, but largely weighted on one ski vs 2. So we have different perspectives on what constitutes carved ski technique. Mine may be outdated. I’ll add that someone skidding through turns using deflection as the force to get the skis into the next turn, rather than reverse camber edging to provide impulsion into the next turn, is very different technically from me. I use the performance of the edged ski to make the transition from one turn to the other where the edged ski carries my feet out to the new position, whereas another person not skillful in engaging the edge through the end of the turn and using those forces to move the feet will just move the feet laterally, slipping them from side to side.
No carving at all. Too much inclination. No angulation. Title should read: intermediate skier old school parallel turns. Bye
@@jbatlanta I laughed out loud! You are right, I am just a washed out skidmeister who can’t keep up with you younguns anymore
@andyhalliday ah yes, I see them. It's just from my personal experience, I still got yelled at for holding up my small camera for more than a few seconds! lol. I guess it's just the luck of the draw as far as security goes. Thank you for your response!
@thequadsqueen There were lots of people (as you can see in the video) taking pix at the concert, and now that small cameras have good video on them too, it was simple to do the video rather than still shots.
Thanks for posting! What great video! I like how you got part so the audience too. Really showed the ambience. Questions: This was after the venue remodel right? How were you able to film vids, cuz I heard they're super heavy on security! Thanks!! Best to you. :)
HD shooting, awesome.!
