Damascus blades with a mini forge?
Переглядів 197Рік тому
The worm gear broke on my main forge’s hand crank blower, so I decided to give this mini forge a try. It worked - the forge definitely gets up to welding temperature, the main issue is obviously the size. It’s a bit difficult to maneuver the steel, remove slag build-up, etc., but the experiment overall was successful. I wouldn’t recommend this as a main forge or anything, but if you’ve got one ...
Make a leather sheath with me

Thought I’d record the process of making a simple leather sheath. Not terribly difficult, and minus the laser engraver the tools are affordable.
Folding, easier than cutting and restacking
Переглядів 178Рік тому
Explaining how I forge all of my damascus billets using the partial cut and fold method. Saves a ton of time not having to stop, cool down the steel, cut into smaller pieces, clean, restack, re-weld, then finally back to the forge.

Ladder pattern damascus, the tedious way, b-roll
Переглядів 156Рік тому
My forge is a couple hundred yards away from electricity/power tools, so I tried putting in the ladder pattern by hand. It turned out fairly decent, although one more fold would have been better.

Single or double bevel on the hewing axe?
Great video! I have 3 white oak live edge slabs and I was looking for a way to flatten them without taking too much off. This is perfect. They are cupped so I believe I can just work longways like you did. I was wondering are those small spacers wedges or just straight pieces of identical thickness.?
I think the tape has it.
No measuring whatsoever, very simple!
Start hewing from the top going towards the bottom of the log.
Awesome!👍
That's what I would've done

what are your best tips/tricks for not getting air bubbles around the beans? I did 3 pour layers, first 2 were table top (mica powder and clear) and last clear layer was deep pour all using superclear. I believe the bubbles i got were from the second layer, i coated the beans in the epoxy then poured them unlike what you did. ive seen both methods recommeneded for minimum air bubbles..
Logic
You work inside your house?
is there not a better way to do this than to cut through beans when squaring up the edges, potentially causing damage and an unsightly edge with exposed cut beans?
you can always add a seal coat of table top epoxy afterwards or take the time to keep the beans away from the edges which is a nuisance really
Probably make your money back in one walnut log
How long to setup and cut a slab? Contemplating purchase.
I use one as well. Not to long to setup about 10 minutes. But the cut time will depend on the type of wood and size of chainsaw being used. I’ve had some slabs cut quickly in maybe 45 minutes for a 6 foot plank. I’ve also had a 8 foot plank take 4 hours with super hard dry wood. Blade sharpener is much needed
@@The-life-of-z You can use whatever saw you want. Tune it properly and file your chains very aggresively and you will have far far far better times than that.
Your chain is dull
This is dope!
The Easiest way to get it! Thank you.
Wow that song is annoying and now stuck in my head fml 🤦
how much did u sell the log plank? 2024 : 2 meter log is 800 usd? ^^
I would like to see a C-Channel process video since I've never done it myself.
It would be better if you could get the vocals louder and the music softer or cut completely.
Great job dude 👌👌
What kind of coal do you use?
