Not for long. After 45 years, PATCO is reopening the Franklin Square Station later this year due in part to new developments in housing and business. The Delaware River Port Authority has spent about a few years cleaning up the dirty grime and dust left behind after the station closed down in 1979 due to low ridership.

It's one of the shortest & quickest subway rides you can do on SEPTA. I once did this ride in 9 mins!(This was on thr last trip though!)

Unfortunately that is physically impossible as the MFL has broad gauge tracks

They normally travel right and at higher speed in that section. It looks like this was filmed last summer; they had a period of time where they were single-tracking that section for upgrade work, which may have been the cause.

​@TheHungryTransitFan This info is incorrect, this video was filmed 2 weeks before uploading. I didn't see any work crew in the tracks, maybe they were preparing work for during the night.

@@Frances_Network_Production right, around August, that's in the time frame. The work went from around mid-July through August due to flooding on July 4th (I made a video about it). I rode PATCO around 10 days before this posted, they were double-tracking then (made a post about it on Twitter/x, that's how I was able to recall it). Thankfully, the work is all done, and they're running quite efficiently with no flooding since!

Nah I disagree with you. K5LA is much much nicer on the ears in my opinion at least compared to the squeaky European horn. It's so shrill and I don't even think of it as a train horn sounds like a European ambulance.

I beg to differ; the 2-tone French hooter sounds HORRID!!! 🤮 I HOPE they replace them with K5LA's on the production Avelias. It could actually turn out to be a safety issue as well; how many non-railfan people would even RECOGNIZE that as a train horn! Even Virtual Railfan, on one of their clips of it, subtiled it "A horn only a mother could love"! 😄 A 5-note K5LA, by comparison, compares well in musicality to a chime steam whistle. 😎

@@WA1LBK I completely agree with you! The K5LA is recognized by even non railfan individuals while the euro horn sounds horrible it won't be recognized and I feel especially at Crossings and stations it maybe ignored even....so a safety definitely.

Not really. The record is officially 183 mph held by the New York Central Black Beatle, a Budd RDC that had two jet engines from a B-36 on the top set back in 1966 in Indiana. Obviously it wasn't meant as anything more than a mad-lad demonstrator to show they could do it, but that's where it stands. No doubt though, if they wanted to go for the speed record now, the Avelias could do it. They can do 200+ if given good track to do it.

My man, that is quite possibly the worst horn I have ever heard. It’s definitely UK style, the US has a different vibe going with their K5LAs

Yeah K5LA sounds like the perfect replacement for those squeaky ass horns

K5LA is overused and outdated plus higher pitched can travel further. I love the Euro Horn it's finally something new and modern and sounds like the future we deserve.

@@growingup15 nah I disagree. The K5LA is still the horn of choice. The European horn is just too shrill makes my ears cringe.

@@stupidkid351 the Euro horn sounds so much more soothing than the ear piercing K5LA horn. Why do you think so many places are implementing quiet zones now. Hell in my City they are putting up quiet zones everywhere because of how loud the K5LA is

@@growingup15 I just find the K5 LA much better sounding horn. It's more high-pitched the European horn I know that but I just don't find it very soothing to the ears but everyone's opinion is different

We barely got up to 54MPH before we had to brake for the next stop. Track speed for the ACRL is 80MPH during the section while PHSL is 70MPH.

A testimony to the quality of the upkeep of the trains by the maintenance shops! If this were the MBTA in Boston they would already be broken down 🫤

@andrei I already own Nahverkehe-Dresden, I'll be doing a similar video, but instead of German EMUs/DMU, it'll be focused on German Locomotives.

Their was no Silverliner 2 or 3 their, their was a Silverliner 4. I just didn't get thr chance to blow that horn. Same with the SEPTA ACS-64, that was also their. I just didn't get a chance to blow it's horn.

I like the broad street line horn. The high & low note together beautiful sound. I wish I had it on my Ford escape

Yeah he was doing 65-70MPH, also if you listen right at 0:24 you can notice one of the gears slip sound awesome!

That was definitely some no gear lock type time ..what gear was that third??

@@franksanders9677 The gears went from 1st straight to 3rd gear, it skipped 2nd gear due to the driver having to slow down on a hill, just to speed back up instantly to keep the flow of traffic. The same thing happens again at 0:37 , this time though he hit the gas at the spot when the bus normal gear change coasting the bus to change gears and backfire alot!
