Lost in a thunderstorm deep in the AZ mountains. ( we had to hike out in the dark )
Переглядів 8303 місяці тому
Well we had set out understanding there was a slight chance for a thunderstorm (30%) for a few hours mid day. That eventually turned into a all night extravaganza. We kept trying to find our way back to the car but that never happened till the storm let up...

    It's your uncle Danny again. Great videos. Look into one of my other favorite hikes of all time , but it needs to be done with atheist one other person due to exposure on the ridge. It is the little bear to blanca traverse in Colorado. If you do it look for my camera at the 1/2 mile mark. It will be about 800 feet below you.

    Mikey. It's your uncle Danny. Have you ever hike Angel s Landig in Zion NP. It's one of my favorite hikes of all time. You need to hike the wave also on the border of AZ. And UT. Get my phone number from your dad and call , so we can talk about some of the great hikes and climbs I've done out west. Maybe we can do one together some time.

    Man! You gotta be careful out there! 😲 that area’s weather is unpredictable, specially this time of the year. It got me once; there was no precipitation in the forecast, but then, all the sudden it got cloudy, windy, could hear thunder in the distance, so started to rush back, just to be caught in a hail storm 😵‍💫 and had no rain jacket with me, fortunately I was only like 4 miles from my car. Please carry a paper map with you 👍

    • @AdventureMikeTime
      @AdventureMikeTime 3 місяці тому

      Yes definitely a downloaded or paper map from now on. I started to realize that area gets hit a lot when I noticed all the down trees everywhere about half way through. It changed so fast it was crazy. I'll be doing the canyon from the other direction starting at Chevron next week.

      @@AdventureMikeTimelol I’m talking about your dog, you mean he got good at it? If I could put a pack on my dog and go camping I totally would but she might fall over lol! She’s an 18 pound chawinnie, the cutest one ever 😊 I’ve always wanted to take her camping she’s almost two, I think she would do good but bark at people, so we would def need a remote area but then I would be scared of bears and wolves if I just let her wonder. Anyway glad you got out safe

    • @AdventureMikeTime

      Ahhh haha Milos a German Shepard/dutch Shepard/ Belgium malonios mix. They are designed to work. Often times we get back from 3 day trips and I still have to work with him at the end of the day to burn energy off him.... So id say genetics. But as far as getting used to a pack just a slow introduction to it then adding weight over time. Even a chawinnie can carry 5-10% of their body weight ! Also carry some bear spray or a fire arm if you're comfortable with it... animals are looking at you even if you don't see them 👀.

    Awesome Mike, it's good to learn those lessons early in your trip instead of a few days into one. This is when all the just in case scenarios come into play, and you end up with a 60lb pack. However, my only suggestions are a small GPS or app for your phone, that might be a worthwhile investment (just in case).😀 This was another good adventure, thanks for sharing.
