Sunset Tribe is about one thing! ADVENTURE. Getting out there on Bike, Boat or Car and enjoying the great outdoors with our families. After quitting the corporate rat race, getting our kids through diapers and starting our own business, we finally have a bit of time to spend on the thing that we love.......ADVENTURE.
The Urban system has become so strong and is taking new prey every single day, most decide to spend all their money on shiny Jewellery, cars and houses.....for us it is to make memories! Memories that will last for always, making our 80 year old self proud of what we have done.
We prioritise Experience over the possessions, memories over perfection, adventure over comfort, people over things, relationships over money, Meat over Salad, Beer over Water, and of course the present over the future…
Follow us as we go into the world Chasing Sunsets.

Unfortunately, because of mechanical problems, we had to abort our adventure and recover the bikes. While we were in the area we decided to visit the Khutse Game reserve on the southern end of the CKGR as we havent been to the park in nearl...

The Plan is to ride adventure bikes around the Central Kalahari Game Reserve of Botswana. That is 1,500km around the 5,2 million hectare Wilderness. We leave Pretoria to reach Kalahari Vultures on day one. Just reach Kalahari Vu...

We are in Ponta Barra for a Business trip and instead of heading back straight to South Africa we decide to take a road most only talk about. We have only heard stories of the road between Pafuri, where you cross the Limpopo at Mapai, all the way to Mabote. There is little information on it and we just had to find out for ourselves. While we are there, we decide to visit the Zinave National par...

a Few weeks back I did my first over landing trip with my 11 year old son through the waterberg mountains of Limpopo. He has been nagging me to take him with us on a trip and I have been waiting for the right time. For a few reasons, but mainly to make sure he can do a full day riding offroad and secondly to find the perfect place where we do not have to do any Tar roads for about 300kms and th...

We are two riding buddies, friends of 30 years , with what you can comfortably call, different levels of riding capabilities. Bezuidenhout's pass starts not far from the town of Bergville in KZN. Guys not very well prepared for adventure bikers soo many flats eish ok, in Botswana especially
Hi Monica, how exactly should we prepare not to get flat wheels? Any advice would be much appreciated!
Great video. That you for visiting and broadcasting our beautiful country🇧🇼🇧🇼 For navigating what tools/devices were you using?
Thanks! And its always our pleasure visiting your country. We absolutely love Botswana! 🇧🇼 we use Garmin gos where you plan routes on Basecamp and then we navigate with Tracks4africa on mobile phone and also Garmin gps.
Appreciate it. You’ve got yourself a knew subscriber and wishing you many more adventures!
Thanks. We appreciate it!
awesomeness guys, mooi jopie😉
Thanks for the comment, dit was baie mooi 👌🏻🤘🏻
thanks for helping us with the trailer ;) see you on the next trip.
Geen Probleem! Hoop julle het veilig gery verder. 🤘🏻
Hierdie lyk lekker. Ons daai paaie gedoen met voertuie. Maar bikes lyk net awsome.
🤘🏻 - Albei is n avontuur! Jy werk net bietjie harder op die 1x2 as die 4x4.
Awesome trip guys
Thanks for the comment!
What tyre pressures you boys running in those rears ? Very strange that you are getting so many flats on your trips. Good video content 👌
Hi Hein, the problem on this trip was that we went back from Mouses to tubes and the tyres was not cleaned and there was movement of the tube inside the tyre which caused all the ruptures. Sorted now on tubeless.
True adventure there!👏 Frightening a bit though, going through the wilderness on bikes...much respect.🙌👏🎊🇧🇼🇿🇦
Hi Bernard, Frightening at first, but we have spent many a night in the wilderness and you get to know the area very well! Thanks for the comment!
Looks lekker boys
Thanks! It was amazing!
An excellent video -thanks for taking us along. Do you have a map file of your trip?
Thank you for the compliment. We do have an approximate track. Please DM us on socials and we can send a copy.
@ Many thanks Will DM you - really appreciate it
Great video boys 👍 Your South African landscape is so much like central Australia.
Howzit, It very similar to central Australia and also the Kimberley region. I used to work up north in the Pilbara and it was always shockingly similar. Thanks for watching mate.
Very cool video guys! Botswana is amazing, i need to get back there one day and break the curse we have with Bots. That sticker "remember you are not Pol Tarres" is classic ! Will give your channel a follow.
What curse do you have with Bots? We have to remind ourselves that we can run out of talent! 😂
@sunsettribegear broken ankle and burnt my bike transponder key (the only key) and had to recover the bike from Bots to Cape Town.
Fantasties!
Thanks Dawid!
Lekkerder as lekker! 👏
Vet pret Elsabe!
Geniet julle videos baie. Dalk in twee of drie episodes? Net 'n gedagte van my kant. Geniet dit manne!!
Thanks Kobus. Dankie vir jou comment. Ons het lank gedebateer oor een video of n paar episodes maar toe bietjie n lange probeer. Ons is bly jy geniet die videos!
Holy moly smackamacarroni!!! The Madmules looks kiff on them🤙🏼😁 Sitting in Mexico watching the video
Dankie Michnus. Die madmules hou nog mooi! Enjoy Mexico, we are still travelling the red dirt of Africa for now.
Haha Dennis.. thinking.. radiator cover? Use it.. don’t use it.. Awesome awesome episode guys! Finally someone beating the Ozzy’s with adventure shows on UA-cam.
We appreciate your comment man. Praise does not come higher. Thanks so much! We would love to reach ozzie channel levels of subscribers!
thanks for this, have been looking for an awesome Moz adventure, i plotted your route out on t4a. now the planning starts.
Our pleasure. One thing to check is that the road south around lake Banamana is not the route on t4a. There will be some bush tracking. Enjoy! Zinave is amazing. Stay there for a few nights and ask for a wild camp. You can dm us on facebook for the contact details of the head rangers.
@@sunsettribegear brilliant, thank you!!
Love this so much. If I had a boy, I'd love to do something like this with him! Well done.
It is a great privilege for anyone to experience this with your child.
Lekker boys! Great episode. Loved the idea with the ‘spinner’ … I may have to borrow the idea 😄 … and Happy Belated Birthday, Big One 🍻
Thanks Richard! Big one is now 42 years young. Next video is a great one.
Thanks for sharing, well done at turning the trip into a great one even although plans had to be changed and re-made. 👍🔥🍺
Thanks Ian. When in Rome….. go and have fun!!! Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
Thanks Ian Can't wait to do one of these with you
Love the sunset scenes. When is the next ride mate? After the last episode where the bikes broke down, I thought the Sunset tribe would attempt another trip somewhere nice.
We have done 2 since then. Just havent found time to edit! 🤦🏻♂️. There will be content soon. 🔜. Watch this space. Sorry for the wait!
@@sunsettribegear Great news! I have the Notifications switched on.
@@MasterRothman awesome. 👌🏻 Thanks.
Sal dalk n goeie idee wees om n jumpstart battery pack saam te ry
Battery is bietjie swaar, maar ons ry nou n jumper cable saam.
Groot knaters manne, groot knaters!
Groot knaters = klein brein 🤣🤣🤣
@@sunsettribegear well as jy daai sand slaan moet jy maar net brein afsit en go anders sien jy jou gat ne
Net so.
Informative video and fun to watch. Thanks! Herbert Smith posted a trip report on 4x4 community. He came the other way to Sinave from Machaila and had a shortcut from the n222 via mechisso avoiding mabote, saving 70km (and no lake to cross).
Hi Iddo? Thanks for the comment. There are so many roads that you dont have a clue which ones to take or which to avoid. And even the road more traveled is not necessarily the through road. An experience none the less.
Great video, thanks guys, that is sweating blood, just came back from a trip to Angola with lot of sand, I know what you went through, julle is ysters👍👍👊👊👊
Hi Dave. Thanks for the compliment! Keep on adventuring 👍🏻🤘🏻
Thanks for posting this video. I was looking for a trip like this. We'll shamelessly copy your idea😂 Going in September. Happy you guys found the reason for your tube failures. I can't emagine how frustrating that must have been.
Howzit Ruan! Its our pleasure documenting our trips. Thanks for watching. Please copy with no shame. That is what the community is all about. Reach out if you would like more info. And send pictures which we’ll share on our pages!
Watched Almost all your videos Must say Never seen someone have so much bad luck with Tyres as you guys😮.Love your videos though very Entertaining Keep em coming!!👍
Howzit Jens, thanks man! Yeah. We have had an inordinate amount of struggles with wheels in our search for the best solution. We have gone full tubeless conversion now and it seems to do the trick! 🤞🏻
Are you guys on Wilddogs? There's 24000 of us fellow adventurers in there. Post your trip reports/videos in our Ride Report section for this. You guys will fit right in!
Well be sure to join on wilddog! Thanks for the ref. Ill register today!
Daai laaitie skrik vir NIKS! Veral op daai klein wieletjies! The "cave" looks more like a prospecting tunnel. I guess they were looking for tin, as was found at Rooiberg and Leeuwpoort nearby.
Skrik vir niks. Kleinboet is nou baie lus vir sy beurt. You are correct, It was an abandoned tin mine although the land owner explained it as a cave.
Ideal is ligter sterk bikes.
@@sunsettribegear DANKIE,NIE EERS DAAR AAN GEDINK NIE...WAG VIR JULLE VOLGENDE EEN 🤟
Love your channel
Thanks Francois!
A question you had M Desert on then you went to i think K Big block for this trip why not going back to Desert couldn't you get? Also why so many punchers what is your rear tire pressure? Also think about dropping a front teeth on sprocket 15 especially in sand and technical with that loads....
Hi Andre. We converted to tubeless while running the Motoz desert and couldnt get tubeless versions at that stage. Weve been running the tubeless bigblocks and they have not given any issues.
Loving watching the latest adventure guys! Keep them coming 🍻
Thanks Richard!
Well done guys, thanks for sharing 🍻 ian
Thanks for watching Ian! Leaving today on a short trip somewhere!
Where was this road in Botswana?
It was the Eastern cutline of the CKGR from Lephepe north.
So the KTM clutch lasted 80 km. Good to know. Should've taken the T7s or a Honda. Great video and adventure . Thanks for sharing 👍
Sorry to say my friend but it was one of the T7s that blew the clutch. Thanks for the compliment!
Honda Africa twin
T700's spot on bikes for the trip !
Thanks. We have done the same trip with 501 and XR650 before, but little match up to the T7s. Just love them!
"Don't know if there's enough fuel, water, petrol, but I'm sure the Klippies stock would be bevange !!!😂😂
To be honest. We were carrying way more water and fuel! But there is always room for sufficient Klippies! 🤣
you're in the top fraction of a percentile of parents. Most would never even think of doing such a thing - and would probably criticize you for it. Absolute respect for what you're doing as a father! And having your mates buy in speaks volumes about your community of comrades...
Thank you Mate. Really appreciate your comment!
Glad the Land Cruiser was able to side step running Mz children actors….. well done on sharing your trip . Bush looks 12:07 stunning 🔥🍺 ian
Thanks Ian. Lucky enough to escape the scam this time. Zinave is just stunning. Have you been there?
@@sunsettribegear unfortunately not…. Yet!! Will be going through the gate at Pafuri on way to Gonarezhou in Zim in September. Hoping to be able to cross without the ferry then…. Thanks ian
@ianmansfield9654 I sent you the number of the fairy operator at Mapai if you want to cross there. 👍🏻
you guys obviously klap the pace when you get going on those gravel highways!
Then its flat taps!!!
Are we supposed to guess the position on the map?
Hi Jack. What position do you want mate?
Next time rather take a support vehicle to carry the luggage so you can ride light plus you can take a freezer to keep the ice frozen so the Brannas is lekker cold
Hi Russell, we attempt to do all our trips unsupported. Stupid some might say….
Bikes most suited for this kind of trip are KTM 500, 690, XR 650, etc. I've done a similar in the 80s through the Kalahari and across Namibia to Swakopmund on my XR 500 and it was a blast. your bikes are way too heavy for those conditions....
We have also done similar Botswana tracks with the 500 and XR650 so we know the drill.
XR 650, or DR 650. And less kak in your luggage. Less dop, more water. Better fitness ...🥴
Well done guys You don’t know until you know 💥💥💥
Exactly! 🤣 We knows not what we knows not.
And now you know.
Awesome, but done some sand in Zim and bots myself, and hate the stuff.... not for me and becomes more of a pain than adventure.... but well done.
I cant disagree. It becomes just a massive challenge where you are not looking forward to the next km. Short stretches of sand is fine but when it becomes 100km of sand it’s relentless.
