Making woodturning tool handles - DIY wooden carbide tool handle
I've ordered a few carbide woodturning tools from China. They can also be ordered with metal handles but I don't like them. So, I wanted to make my own wooden handles for them.

I've saved a few straight oak logs and let them dry a while. I made this lamp with one of those and it turned out fine.
DIY cat scratcher - 3 different cat scratching post models
Переглядів 40 тис.4 роки тому
Our cat scratches everywhere. That was OK until I've put so much effort on restoring 60-years-old armchairs. I needed to direct this little fellow's attention to elsewhere from these armchairs. That's why I built these. So far so good.

What are the measurements? Of rope and wood?
The corner one is so beautiful ❤️ because of the weave. Thank you for showing the process.
Wow this is awesome. Was this a usual rope or sisal rope?
Looks like cat safe sisal. I get mine off amazon. I use 1/4 inch sisal. If it's too thin it's a nightmare to wrap. Kills the muscles in your palm.
@dohandcrafts, Excellent ideas finally translated into useful Art and utility innovations. I'll definitely follow your procedures to have something our cats will really thank us for.
How many meters of rope will we need for these projects? I would like to get something natural like hemp. I would have to order on-line. Would you know how much would take care of each project?
I don’t really know. It was sold as a roll. But depending on the board size it can be roughly estimated, I guess.
Hi, what glue did you use? Ta
For the wood titebond, for the rope fixing hot melt glue
You have excellent technique. I like the way you use a wood piece to press down each row tight. It shows in your end end product.

*Nice work. Interesting ideas. I also initially wrapped the scratching post with rope, but then I realized that if you cover it with fabric, the scratching post lives much longer. Come visit)*
DID you use jute or sisal rope? what is better option?
They are both good I guess. I used jute. Just make sure they didn’t use any petroleum based oils in production since it smells and bothers cats.
how did you attach it to the couch???
With thin nails.
Woodglut is full of amazing tips. It helped me a lot.
How did you get the corner srcatch for the lounge chair to stay on the corner?
Nailed directly to the wooden chasis of the sofa. You take a closer look and will see the heads, they are thin and don’t hurt the fabric when removed.
thanks man..... thats real DIY ... 2 & 3 are simple to make
Somehow, Do It Yourself videos with elevator music and no verbal instruction aren't very useful for true beginners. The finished products here awesome but unfortunately without a certain skill level already no can do. Too bad, I'm sad!
I think it's an exxxxxxcellent scratching post. Thanks for sharing
Hi! How did you get it to stay on the chair/couch? Was it velcro?
It’s nailed to wooden chassis using thin nails. But velcro is also a good idea if applicable.
What kind of rope you have used? Please let me know the right name , texture for that rope.
It’s natural jute
@@dohandcrafts7260 Thankyou
I have glued a piece of carpet to my wall, I sure need an upgrade😅

I really need this😅 Thank you so so much!
beautiful work! what rope did you use?
Thx. It’s natural jute.
