Herschel Walker: Greatest College Football Running Back Ever
University of Georgia's own Herschel Walker is without question the greatest college football running back of all time. Even ESPN couldn't get this one wrong.

where the full thing with all 10 backs?
Out Ran Darrell Green
Greatest Athlete of Alltime
Very sad that he got wrapped up in that fascist pollical party
This is fact
Bo jackson or walker one two. Either way
Barry, Bo, and Reggie might have something to say about that.
As much as I love Herschel Walker, Marcus Dupree would have been the best ever if his career wouldn't have been mismanaged.
1:16 What an ignorant comment. EVERYONE knew who Herschel Walker was even as a sophomore in HIGH SCHOOL!
Absolutely
Umm, that would be Bo Jackson. Give Walker third behind Dorsett.
Taking nothing away from Bo Jackson, but the only person who thinks HW was not the best RB of all time is someone who never seen him play. The kid was not human. The best 4 college RBs of all time...1) HW 2) Archie Griffin 3) Bo Jackson 4) Darren McFadden
Herschels track photo on the cover of sports illustrated is all you need to see to know how powerful he was...
He was the greatest
I agree. I am old and have seen them all. Walker was the greatest. And this from an old "northern boy"!!
Walker is the Greatest College Football Player of All-Time. I thought it was totally unfair that he was voted #2 and Jim Brown #1 for the CFB 150th All-Time Anniversary Team. This was political by ESPN due to Walker's political stance.
Walker was the best no doubt about it
Defenses in the SEC could not manage Walkers physicality because he would pound on them all afternoon. Eventually they would wilt.
my cousin😎
everyone will have a where is "x" player for this list but wheres ricky williams? As for most entertaining college rb ever, id put reggie bush number 1 by a large margin
Well...you'd be wrong.
Nah, definitely not wrong
Mehhhh I guess if you don't like defense.
well, i think bush is an overrated college running back but how can he not be entertaining? They guy out the ball behind his back during a back juke and cut back into the middle of the field. i remember thinking "did i just see that correct?" But i would never say he has one of the greatest running backs. even during his career, peterson was imo the better running back
Joe Deli Bush Far From Overrated!!!! GOAT🐐
People call him a terrible pro but he's like 3rd all time in all purpose yards
+Ethan Knowles And also I think it was the vikings that traded half the team to get him, so he didn't have a line to block for him.
+Ethan Knowles This is from such a long time ago, but combining is USFL and NFL yardage, he's #1 in all purpose. I guess people just say his pro years weren't as good because he's always considered the greatest college RB ever, they just expected more from him
The Vikings coach also misused Herschel in order to get back at the GM for making the trade.
1. Barry Sanders 2. OJ Simpson 3. Hershel Walker. Barry's stats were unreal that year, 17 touchdowns IN HIS FIRST 5 GAMES! WTF!
barry sanders should be #1
Well hershel got the ball a LOT more than dupree ever did so those stats arent even comparable
Marcus Dupree...not the best running back Freshman 146 att, 1144 yds, 12 td, 104 yd/game Soph 61 att, 369 yds, 3 td, 92.3 yds/game Walker Fr 1616 yds, 15 tds, 147 yds/game So 1891 yds, 18 tds, 172 yds/game Jun 1752 yds, 16 tds, 159 yds/game How is Marcus Dupree better?
Marcus Dupree was better, he just had a much shorter college career.
her-schel was not the best college running back - that would be Marcus Dupree - he was faster, stronger and bigger than her-schel
Hershel literally ran a 10.23 100m and a 4.2 40 yard dash.
be interesting If Marcus Dupree finished his career at Okla.
You're a little kid.
As a fellow teammate and friend of sanders son and someone who knows the family very well, I can tell you this even barry admitted the greatest college running back ever was herschel walker.
and your a little kid so how about this if i give you a candy bar can you delete that post. Thankyou
Archie griffin is way better
He's good but I think sanders is better
Oh he's only in the Top 10 for All-Purpose Yardage....I'm sure nobody special makes that list, i.e. Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Thurman Thomas, Jerry Rice to name a few.
Walker was the greatest !!!!! Dupree was good but there were better RB than him Ahman Green ,Lawrance Phillips was a great RB but had issues ,Ray Rice, etc. Herschel could do it all even kick !!!!
4:02...That only happens in Madden; unless you are HERSCHEL WALKER...
This was an easy one. By far, Herchel Walker was the best college running back of all time. He gained over 5200 yards rushing in 3 years. If he had come back for his senior year, he would have been pushing the 7000 yard mark. That's unbelievable. That record may have never been broken.
In no way is it "by far". It very easy to make a case for Sanders being a better back in college. He just had the misfortune of playing behind Thurman Thomas his first 2 years. Sanders rushed for over 2,600 yds with 37 TDs wgile averaging over 7.5. Yds a carry. Let that sink in. In 11 games, he compiled those numbers. Herschel was great, but he wasn't Sanders.
@@josephjohnroe3678 We are judging by what happened and not "would have" happened. Sanders was great in college but by the numbers he was not as good as Herschel over his whole career. I feel bad for Sanders as he got drafted by the Lions. He was a MUCH better runner than Emmitt but had the misfortune of being drafted by a bottom of the barrel team that only reached the playoffs once in his tenor.
The best
I don't think his path to the NFL hurt him, at all. It diidn't help that he had to share the backfield with Tony Dorsett, but after that, the Vikings and Eagles didn't use him properly. They both tried to get cute with him and play him at 'H' back and have him running pass routes the like. The idea was to get him in space, but the reality was, he could create his own space. As Vince Dooley said, the 4th qtr belonged to Walker. Dot the i with him, and give him the ball 30 times.
You really should watch 30 for 30 about Marcus Dupree you got it all wrong ...
He wasn't a quitter , he wasn't well coach that's all too much pressure on this poor young man
Why the hoopla for Dupree? Yes, he was amazing, but as much as he was amazing he was also a QUITTER!!!! How many seasons of college FB did Dupree even play? Like one and a half I think. How many college touchdowns did Dupree get? A dozen or so. I would guess Herschel probably rumbled into the endzone 50-60 times. As for Dupree being in the top 10? Again, how many touchdowns and yards did he gain in college? Dupree was talented he just had no heart. It was a shame.
No, Dupree was a quitter. Dupree was probably more gifted than Walker, but Herschel could out work Dupree into the gutter, which is where Dupree ended up because of his attitude.
What's his college stats again? Dupree might have been the most talented, but not the best.
Where is Marcus Dupree on this list? He was just as good, if not better than Herschel. One of the best running backs to ever play the game.
@Ja41799 you are saying is like this happened yesterday but in the 80s and 70s times were a little different. especially about the big 12 it was tough and if you didn't know barry was amazing in the nfl just like in the ncaa
How is Tony Dorsett not on the list. He should be number one . This list is a joke !!!!!!!!!!!!
wasnt that, the vikings fked him in the ass royally.
first herschel then moreno then aj green WHATS NEXT ?
Adrian Peterson should be on here
Where's Marcus Dupree?
