Mainly short videos of the Perrygrove Railway which my wife and I built, the Forest of Dean where we have lived for 31 years, and our boat "Coracle", a Nordhavn 40.

The last run of a narrow gauge diesel locomotive in industrial service in a British factory.

Painter Brothers, Hereford. Lister Railtruck 40407/1954 Filmed in 2011 when I bought this, and the other Lister 54181/1964, which had already been lifted off the track by the overhead gantry crane. To the best of my knowledge the title of this video is correct. There are a tiny number of other British industrial locations which still have narrow gauge tracks, an even tinier number with locomoti...
One minute of Train - Perrygrove Railway - 2024 Gala
Переглядів 3673 місяці тому
Prepping for the Gala at Perrygrove 18 May 2024. 10 locomotives in service, 8 steam and 2 diesel, 7 resident and 3 visitors. Burning the very last of the Welsh Steam Coal, so no smoke. In future real coal will have to be imported from far away countries. When my wife Frances and I built the railway we only had to locomotives, Spirit of Adventure and Workhorse - and Workhorse couldn't pull passe...

One Minute of Train - Spirit of Adventure at Ravenglass (1)
Переглядів 3,8 тис.Рік тому
In February 1993 my new 15 inch gauge steam locomotive, "Spirit of Adventure" was nearly complete. It was built by the Stirland family (Trevor, June, Tony and Julie) at their combined railway and workshops, the Exmoor Steam Railway. There was only a short test track at the works, and I didn't have a railway of my own yet, but I hoped that it would be able to visit the Ravenglass & Eskdale railw...

One Minute of Train - Galatea departs Plymouth Sunday 30 July 2023

Waiting for my train at Plymouth I realised that there was a main line steam special waiting in platform 8 and I was able to film it on my phone. I had no idea it would be there, it was a complete surprise. The video runs just over a minute because I wanted to keep some of the sound at the end - the phone couldn't catch all of it echoing across the roofs of Plymouth as the train headed for Corn...
The Torry Hill private railway
Переглядів 15 тис.2 роки тому
The Torry Hill railway is 9” gauge, in Kent, mostly built in the early 1930s, with additions in the 1950s. It's one of the most private lines in the country. No public access. You cannot see it from any publicly accessible land. I was able to visit with the Heywood Society. The locomotives are kept off-site. Miniature Railway magazine carried a very detailed account of the line in issue No. 8 (...
One Minute of Train - Soony at Perrygrove Railway
Переглядів 3102 роки тому
This one's just over a minute - and sorry about the poor quality video but I hope the sound makes up for it. Soony is a Baldwin "might have been", 15inch gauge, which is based at the Perrygrove Railway in the Forest of Dean, England. These clips are mostly from 2013 when the locomotive was new. The full story is in the Heywood Journal No. 73 of Autumn 2013. Details of running days will usually ...

Cute!
Great footage, thanks for uploading. I only realised that Painter Bros had industrial locos a few weeks ago from some pictures on Flickr. I used to work pretty much next door in 2002. Quite tempted to make a model railway based on it.
Aww it’s so cuuuuute
Maybe the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway, 2'6" formerly servicing the adjoining paper mills?
One of the few instances when something can be a toy and tool simultaneously
Painter Brothers in Hereford. The company being part of Balfour-Beatty Group Ltd. They make Electricity Transmission Towers (They don't like to call them Pylons!) Whilst the Lister diesel looks have left for preservation. The system is still in use with a pair of 4w battery electric locomotives built by Clayton which are as follows. - 4wBE CE 5806/1973. - 4BE CE BO142B/1973. Today in 2024 Painter Brothers are one of the very few industrial locations in the UK that.are still using narrow gauge locomotives in any role at all.
Last run on diesel. They installed overhead wires instead? 😂 And why do they push the cars themselves while they have a locomotive to do that for them? So many questions...
Yes it was the last diesel run. They had two diesels at the time I bought them but the other one had already been lifted off the tracks. The replacements are Clayton battery electric locomotives. You can just see one at 1:30, inside the factory. I don't know why they pushed the wagons, I just filmed what they did. So many questions? Ask away.
Cool catch
Sounds like a Lister ST3.
!Good video, like!
Someone show this video to Lawrie(from LMM), he'll probably get very excited about a locomotive so new to preservation.
Don't tempt him, he/we have enough to play with already with standard gauge.
Lol @@trainswithnickyt
I like the body work they put on the Lister. The blue color looks lovely as well. Warm greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱.

cool video
Good job
I am searching for dimensions or an outline plan of spirit, as I am wanting to make a live steam 1:12th scale model. If your able to point me in the right direction I'd be much obliged.
Happy to help - Please contact me - look at perrygrovefarm dot co dot uk to see how.
How do you get to see it or invited on it
The only way I know is to belong to a group or club which is able to arrange a visit. I mentioned the Heywood Society, here is the address: www.theheywoodsociety.co.uk/

Bullheaded railway track and someone has put an awful lot of work into that railway.
Fabulous.
A hidden treasure! - thanks for posting.
An important fact about railways is that they are the least intrusive incursions into the natural environment.
I was on that one!
That's the shorter journey!
Nice long ride but it seems a shame to keep something like this totally private.
I've heard of it before in books when I was a kid. I hgeard they cant get the insurance for the public andcan see why the health & safety nazis will complain about the carriages over the narrow viaduct LOL.
👌Spitze
Beautifullllll
brilliant railway and i love Viaduct
Fantastic
brilliant, thank you
Everything is in the hands of God . A very interesting layout 👍
It has to be realistic and will weather naturally over time.
Not DoNZ? Well that's what happens when you listen to what the gricer next to you is saying - and it went by so fast I never saw the number or name. I didn't know about this run in advance, I just noticed a man with a camera standing beside the track and thought perhaps something interesting was on its way. BTW I was in a legal position behind the fence. Quite a good location here.
Very good is an understatement - it looked sensational on the teaks. A nice dramatic angle you've got here - increases the drama. It's not running as DoNZ any more, though - back to 4464 here.
