    Agreed that many instructors don't focus on Reading Comp, but worse use gimmicky methods to try to master the passage. Byt no pssage map?

      @manhattanprepgmat6791 5 днів тому

      Hi Joseph! The passage map is certainly something that many of my colleagues (and plenty of students) make great use of. I have personally seen students focus more on copying info into notes to call it a passage map rather than taking pauses as they read to think about and mentally consolidate what they just read. Writing notes without really thinking about and then rephrasing into your own (very few) words ends up taking time without adding comprehension. Hence my discussion more about spending that extra time when you come back to find proof and predict! You should absolutely give some practice examples a try with both - try some notes and try pausing just to think - and see what you like for you! And best of luck with your studies -Whit

    Dont know if you guys are still replying, but am I silly to have thought what they mean in this question is: suppose for the 3rd week, you would add current week+last week sum+ the first week sum. And i continued this till the end and made a huge mess. Is this not a way to interpret this one?

    How does one integrate all these videos into a coherent study plan?

    • @manhattanprepgmat6791
      @manhattanprepgmat6791 2 місяці тому

      Hi, Joseph! Thanks for your question! Our UA-cam videos are meant to supplement whatever program you're using to study-for example, you can search the videos for specific topics or question types to get extra help on areas that are giving you trouble. They can't substitute for a complete study plan. If you're looking for a complete study plan, I'd start by signing up for our Free GMAT Starter Kit on our website ( www.kaptest.com/gmat/free/gmat-practice ). That will give you access to more free study material and also explain how the different comprehensive (and paid) study plans work, including the opportunity for some free trials of some of the programs. (In general, if you want a comprehensive study plan that's actually effective...it's going to cost some money. It takes a huge amount of time and expertise to build an effective learning program. At least it'll be a lot less expensive than business school itself. ☺️)

    for the 2nd last question, the 'x-1' column, don't all values have to align. Here, only 2 are divisible by 5. Why aren't we considering the rest. Thanks so much, Whitney!! Always look forward to your sessions.

    • @manhattanprepgmat6791
      @manhattanprepgmat6791 2 місяці тому

      Great questions! You are exactly right that since the question states that 3x+2 must be divisible by 5, every answer that would be "legal" would have to abide by that. So the table was trying every value of x until we found a couple that worked for all constraints - hence the fact that we only finished testing the problem with those two values. We had to throw out any values of x that wouldn’t make 3x + 2 divisible by 5! Hope this helps!

    For finding LCM, at 13:20 you mentioned multiply all the factors 2x2x5x2x2x5x3x3, which equals 3600. However, the LCM is 36000. Can you explain what I am missing ? Thanks.

    • @manhattanprepgmat6791
      @manhattanprepgmat6791 3 місяці тому

      Nice catch! It isn't what you're missing, but what I was missing! If you notice, I factored 4000 into 4 and 100 instead of 4 and 1000 - there should have been another 10 in there! It doesn't change the GCF because the 180 doesn't have another 2 or 5 to overlap, BUT it does add an extra 2 and 5 into the leftmost area of the 4000 circle AND it gives the LCM another 0 so that the correct LCM (as you point out) is 36000! Thank you so much for catching that!

    Thank you Jeff for this great video. The questions about averaging pace confuse me so much, aren't speeds supposed to be in miles/min rather than minutes/mile? Also is there anything as such as averaging time/distance? You were basically averaging time and taking distances as your weights. I have solved those questions unsing the average speed formula (total distance/total time) and got the same answer, which made more sense to me. Thank you again for the great prep hours.
