I took my REEB SST for a road trip to Pisgah National Park in Western North Carolina. First stop was DuPont State Park to ride some of my favorite trails, including Hooker Creek and Ridgeline. On my second loop I rode Isaac Heath In to ride Jim Branch Trail down to the parking lot and it was a blast! Tomorrow I head to Rock Creek Bike Park for some serious downhill riding. What was the weight?
Weight is 31lbs
I built up a medium frame. Fits perfectly
Great review, what size frame did you go with at 5’10”? I didn’t catch that if you put it in the video.
Hey, that’s awesome to hear!! San Lee is a great ride all around. Check out the trail system on Trail Forks if you need an overview. If you are avoiding sketchy sections then watch out for Freefall and anything that says Rockness. Definitely check out the Gravity Park. The new “beginner “ loop is a lot of fun. Also Charlie’s Climb is a great climb trail you can run either direction. Have a blast and let me know how it goes. By the way, next Saturday the 26th we are hosting the San Lee Trailfest at San Lee. It’s an amazing event filled with great people and lots of group rides and demos available from REEB Cycles and Niner. Hope to see you there. Be sure to stop by say hi at the REEB Tent.
Doing a trail discovery out there tomorrow...about 4 months into riding, but usually run slow and skip things that look scetch...herd I should be good have ran the brown and back trail at smith a few times with no issues as well as some of the harder things at Brown's Creek...oh, have done the Gov a few times.
Looks like a solid ride, missing Dupont!
Ditch the coil fork. Its auper heavy. I got a lyrik ultimate and this thing destroys both up and down.
Thank you.
Ill be riding raleigh mostly. VA and Boone for some good day trips
I just got a pair of the tan ones I got bird legs so should work out perfect for me lol I just got off a knee fracture so def much needed protection
How’s the signage, is it one big loop?
Signage is good. There is a large map as you enter the trails and the trails them selves are well marked. It’s hard to get lost. Great trails for beginners and intermediate riders.
@@SAMTB Thanks!
Thanks for the video. You should make more.
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Love it
Great
I'm glad you mentioned that about the right of way because you are right we have it backwards...it much safer and easier for the uphill person to yield.... especially as the trail gets steeper. Not to mention you ruin the other person's downhill. It is one of the dumbest "rules" of the trail and however it got accepted as trail etiquette....who knows
Steve - I have a RIPMO AF and I am strongly considering the standard LEVO because I heard it has more power than the LEVO SL (90 nm vs 55 nm). Have you tried the standard LEVO and if so which do you prefer?
Yes I ride the Ripmo AF as well. I’ve ridden the Levo and it “feels “ bigger, probably because it is a lot heavier. I like the SL because it’s a lot lighter and the battery capacity is so close with the bonus battery attached
I have a ripmo AF and if u are more enduro guy or bike park guy the travel of the bike isnt good any way, i have cascade link and 5 tokens in rear shock and i use full rear travel in every descent its a real good TRAIL bike not enduro bike
Hey Gus, If your blowing through your travel and having to add that many tokens in the DVO Diamond or Onyx, Something is wrong with your set up. I ride Pisgah, Arizona, New Mexico and I don’t have a problem with the suspension. I had it set up and tuned at Squatch Bikes and it rides great. Have your bike mechanic take a look at your set up. If you’re not over 250 lbs. you shouldn’t have a problem.
Man Reeb bikes are just the best!
Are the trails not one-way directional?
No Brumley is multi directional.
Thanks for checking it out!
You may be the first person ive seen to ride my home trail I think the xc bike is perfect here. makes you good at corning out here too
Thanks for watching. Yes this bike was great for these trails. With the exception of the drop bars it’s a great set up. Poseidon actually added a straight bar option to this bike. I haven’t been on the new set up but I’d imagine it would ride great on these kinds of trails.
I had a blast! You guys put on an awesome event! Thanks for putting in all the hard work. See you next year!
Thanks for coming out to Moab Outerbike and for these great reviews 👍
Totally agree about how amazing Outerbike (or similar event) can be for evaluating lots of bikes and comparing apples to apples in near real time. I went to Outerbike in Bentonville last year and learned so much! I got to ride Canyon, Nukeproof, Kona, Banshee, Propain, Ibis, Specialized all in one weekend. I could have test out more bikes but I was literally too tired by around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. :) Highly recommend.
Yea, I think I had the same issue with exhaustion. We rode every morning from 9am - 1p. Had lunch and then got out on a second bike until the day closed out. I got out on the IBIS Ripley and Ripmo, REEB Steezl, Specialized Levo SL, NukeProof Reactor. All Outstanding in their own way. Thanks for watching.
Just got a Ripmo AF with the Deore build. Also have the Marzocchi Z1 coil but I’ve read good things about it. Finishing the build and can’t wait to get it out on the trail.
Best of luck, let me know how you like the suspension set up.
That bike looks super fast. I have the fantom 29 and im planning to put nobby nic for city and flowy trail only 😊
Great vid!
Thanks, turned out a bit longer than I expected.
RaceFace makes different sizes, with size charts on their website. My knee pad fit great, stay in place, feel fine on 30 mile rides and have lasted a good while tool. In addition, have provide protection as designed. My current pads are 2+ years old. Great product and will buy more. Just check the size before you buy.
Thanks Vince, I did use their size chart. Looks like I choose wrong...hahaha
Bigger size? I got some leatts of similar harder stuff and the velcro straps so the don't slip around for bmx and bike park.
Yep I should try a larger size. Probably just going to return and see about a different style. I don’t like the strap and short upper band sucks
Crazy how tame these things can look from different camera angles ... until you're on the bike, looking down, and feeling that gravity. Nice walkthroughs, though! 👍
Hey Thanks, FreeFall is a challenging trail. It’s super technical and it has some nasty bits that can send you flying if your not familiar with the trail. It’s extra special in the wet!!
Is that a large size goggles , if u can compares to SMITH XL goggle?
Yes they are large. I have a POC helmet that they are made to pair with so the fit is great. The smiths are similar but I’ve only tried them on, I haven’t ridden with them. The Pocs feel good and they don’t fog up.
@@SAMTB thanks, for the info, guess im getting the POC.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. They’ve been really awesome for me. I think I have a link in the description if you’re looking for the ones I showed might help would definitely help the channel.
I had the Chester’s on the same bike. But I went to the larger deity’s death traps Deity’s work better for me
Chester’s have been good up until now. I’m liking the new peddle feel..
Interesting tire journey. Cool to hear your thoughts on all this. Question for you ... I'm in Colorado and have Specialized tires - 29x2.6 Butcher in the front and 29x2.6 Eliminator in the rear. And that works great for me here. However, we're planning on moving to the Raleigh area in the spring. Will those tires be suitable or do you think I'll need to change it up?
Hey, I’d say your tires will be fine. It’s a different kind of ride here. For you, it will seem really flat. You may switch up to a xc or lite trail tire. The Raleigh area, referred to as the Triangle has some pretty diverse terrain. You’ll always have roots no matter where you ride around here but some areas have a lot more rocks and others have almost no rocks. We also have a lot of bandit trails that tent to have a lot of wood features. Hit me up when you get here. Maybe we can get in a few of my favorite trails
@SAMTB - Thanks for the info! And I appreciate that offer - I'll definitely take you up on that. 👍
Love the content, man! Will be back for more. :)
Thanks, more on the way soon! Thanks for liking!
Gravel road is the biggest hazard to damaging the ripmo frame. Especially the welds on the rear.
Hey, Agreed, the gravel is a pain. SInce I installed the little rubber flap on the rear I haven’t had any issues with gravel.
Good info, but W-w-w-w-wait...an Evoc hydration pro hip pack for $50? I most DEFINITELY need the link for that. Additionally, as someone who's only a year in to mountain biking, with no previous transferable experience such as BMX, road cycling, motocross etc, I feel that the number 1 best acquisition that I've made so far, is lessons/coaching.
The link for the pack is in the description section. It is going for $60 now. I bought it for $50 a few months ago. Still an amazing price compared to CamelBack or Osprey offerings that run around $85 and up for a waistpack.
Here’s the link - amzn.to/3OZ59qs
@@SAMTBsweet. Much appreciated. I was editing my post when you replied. 😄.
Hey as far as lessons, I completely agree. If you have the budget, get with a local experienced rider, possibly someone who has raced or done trials riding. Also, check out any of the national events for lessons with active pro riders. I follow and have ridden with Jeff Lenosky over the past few years and his videos and in person training is the best I’ve ever experienced. Check him out on Facebook and Instagram @jefflenosky of www.JeffLenosky.com. Best of Luck!
@@SAMTBlove his videos. Unfortunately I'm in Canada though.
Great video!
Thanks!!
Thank you for sharing. It's always good to learn new things to improve our riding.😊
RIPMO AF is rolex
Hi, thanks for the overview. How well would you say the Ripmo AF pedals uphill vs. similar bikes. Cheers. Much pedal bob?
The DW suspension design is supposed to be a very efficient pedaler. It should pedal better than bikes if similar travel, but a short travel might take the edge. I haven’t ridden one just going off of all I’ve researched, currently saving for my Ripmo af.
The IBIS Ripmo AF or carbon version are exceptional climbers. The combination of the DVO shock the SRAM Eagle gear ( I’ve upgraded to the GX cassette and GX AXS System on this bike) and the overall geometry have made this bike a bit of a legend in terms of climbing. To be honest, i think its awesome that the bike climbs great but the real magic happens when you point this bike downhill. I’ve ridden a number os bikes that would be considered a competitor to the Ripmo and I would say from my personal experience, none are quite as good as the Ripmo.
sweet!
No info really on how to attach the rack to the hitch. Maybe my rack didn’t come with the proper part? Can you elaborate and show a video of you attaching the rack to your hitch under the car???
What trail where you riding I'm in Clayton NC
Most of the filming was done in Holly Springs, Right off of Avent Ferry Rd. And 55.
Hey, how did you get the Race Face crank boots to fit on your NX cranks?
They fit perfect. Haven’t had an issue.
Brumley is by far my favorite. The rock gardens on Springhouse always get me though.
Those things look rediculous bro u look like a giant fly smh
The wheels leave much to be desired. Great value even with the brakes and wheels. Good platform to build on.
I'm glad you did this review. Pleas comment as to whether it swayed or not once you started driving with it on the car.
The rack is pretty solid on the back of my Tiguan and with the included adapter for larger hitch receivers. There is a screw instead of a hitch pin that seems to make a better connection with the hitch receiver. Unless I’m off road and the whole truck os bouncing back and forth, the bike and the carrier are solid. Hope this helps. By the way I’ve had the carrier for over 2 years now and no issues.
I like the cut of your jib SAMTB! Let's ride if you ever come to SE Florida
