      hello. I am very sorry, I didn't build it, a collegue of mine did. I would also have to google. But the two cylinders are just out of metal from a hardware store. and the box is battery powered

    OMG, I have always had a hard time trying to picture how a straight wire makes the magnetic field when the wire gets coiled. using the right hand rule and trying to figure out what was really going on is hard. Im a visual learner and this video is beyond awesome. Good job.

    Power supply is connected to DC, doesn't it need to be connector to AC to pass through the transformer?

    • @cg-physics-global1021
      @cg-physics-global1021 3 місяці тому

      In this case, it is not a transformer, the coils are just there to produce a magnetic field that is storng enough. And for that, you need AC, otherwise north and south would change 50 times a second.

  • @bulla8631
    @bulla8631 5 місяців тому

    i though the magnetic it’s generate AC only or including DC out of the magnetic how come the lead plugs into the DC but not the AC i don’t get it i means if you measuring DC voltage the lead should be in the DC position for AC the lead should be in the AC position

    • @PKhanz
      @PKhanz Місяць тому

      Not measuring AC or DC, the box is a power supply applying DC to the coil.

    • @cg-physics-global1021

      There are always several magnetic fields present. And the strongest one wins! But it depends on all of them, how the magnetic field is orientated.

    At the beginning of the video, the current is flowing from left to right (screen orientation), yet the magnetic field lines are shown flowing from the bottom, towards the viewer and over the top. I think that this is the wrong direction, since it's not following the "curl right hand rule". The field lines should be shown flowing in the other direction. ua-cam.com/video/LAnRTNwrFMo/v-deo.html

    • @cg-physics-global1021
      @cg-physics-global1021 Рік тому

      The video is correct. If you go from - to +, you have to use the left hand. If you use the definition (+ to -) you use the right hand. In both cases the lines are correct.
