Hello, this is a little Blender short film of a reimagination of Gizmo. Initially I wanted to dig deeper into creating fur with Blender's new hair system. One thing led to another and a bigger project came out of it. Hope you like it, Cheers
I am also super excited today this project became an article on 80lvl;

Hi ! I wanted to try out the new hair system in Blender 3.5 and what can I say... it's fantastic !!! This video is a little breakdown of two hair styles I did. My apologies, but I don't often record videos, so it is probably quite of a mess. Here is the .blend file with those examples: www.dropbox.com/s/r67igrm6pqoeh6h/groom_example.blend?dl=0 Definitely go to the official Blender UA-cam channe...
Blender 3.0 Palette addon demo
Переглядів 3743 роки тому
Hey, this is just a short demo of the addon I wrote. Sorry for the meeeh audio, I don't have a proper mic, since I usually don't record videos, ha. unfortunately my screen recorder did not capture the file browser. so in order to append a palette tree just navigate to the blend file and in the "NodeGroups" section you find the palette trees. here's the addon: 9031516125512.gumroad.com/l/ditgou

Oh god, it's so good that I thought it was shot from a camera until I read the description
Very nice. There's a sense of melancholy that I think works really well here.

Its great!
What an inspiration. So gorgeous, very nice work 😮❤
This is so amazing! even showing how you copied the node tree over helps us better apply it our other projects! your style is awsome! Its so informative everything is explained, chilled out vibe, the result is spectacular. This is my favorite youtube channel ever! I cant wait to do the rest of the tutorials! I never could have created anything so incredible on my own! you are an absolute genius
Great Work man.
Very good sir!

Incredible looking.
wow this is incredible work!!!
This channel is absolutely incredible I cannot belive how generous you are to teach us this for free I have paid for courses that are terrrible compared to this. The explinations are clear and begginer friendly and the results are insane! Thank you so much I am currently doing you full hair tutorial and coming here to make the better nodes, you are my hero! You even replied to my question depsite the video being months old! I hope you are well and your life is going great and Id love to see more of your work! I hope this channel has a bright future its one of the best Ive ever watched!
Oh wow, thank you so much for these kind words. Motivates me too soon make more videos
awesome tutorial! I just have one issue my guide curves have way less point on them than your smooth ones how did you do that?
Hello, if you go to the render properties tab there is a panel called curves. In there you can increase the curve subdivision
@@stefanmayr1983 wonderful thank you so much for the reply you are amazing!!!!!!
This is the technology I want so much!! Thank you very much
your soothing voice and good sounds in BG makes it so good to watch not boring at all also really great break out ... thank you so much for this
This really is superb.
Hello, could you please tell me why the Density mask texture of the Interpolate Hair Curves node tool in the hair system can be used sometimes, and sometimes it is wrong
Hello, if i understand it right, it probably has to do with the UV. You need to tell the interpolate hair curves the name of the uv set otherwise you'll have to use the auto generated uv of the hairs themselves, which is called "surface_uv_coordinate"
@@stefanmayr1983 Thanks, I have solved this problem now, because of the bug produced by different language versions of blender. Again, could you tell me the specific way to obtain the resample_hair_TL tool under hari tools used in the video? I want to apply the resample_hair_tl command, but I don't know how to obtain it. I tried a few things, but nothing worked
@恒远-v8w hello, glad you got it working. So weird it being a language based bug. The resample tool is a custom geo nodes tool i made. It literally just uses the resample curve node so i can increase or decrease the point density when needed
This is the most indepth video I've seen in a long time! Thank you! I have noticed that my eyebrows are now longer visible and wondered if the hair curves method has interupted this. I had my brows as particle systems (without applying the modifers or converting to cruves) and they dont seem to work now. Do I need to swap these out for hair curves?
Thank you very much for these kind words. Hmm as far as the eyebrows are concerned, if they are a separate particle hair they should have nothing to do with the hair curves. Maybe you can't grow them both from the same emitter? Just a random guess. Need to try that out
@@stefanmayr1983 Thanks for the reply - yeah I found that odd too. it looks as if (when selected) they turned to points.. no bother though, I can just replace for hair curves
Thank you for sharing your workflow. Very nice result.
Hi Smay, I didn't watch all you videos yet but you are the only guy on UA-cam who really explain in debt how to approach hair using geometry node. I was looking for videos like this for quite a while now but I coudn't find anything close to what you are showing. keep up you channel is the best. thankyou so much for sharing
Wow, thank you so much for these nice words, i really appreciate it
@@stefanmayr1983 my pleasure, I think you did the raccoon on your UA-cam profile photo. That would be nice and very helpful if you could break down the process of how to do the fur for such an animal or so. Thanks again
unfortunately I didn't do the raccoon, just found it years and years online and found it super cool, ha.. However I am working on a short right now, featuring a furry animal,, once this is done, I am considering of doing a furry creature process series ;)
@@stefanmayr1983 haha sorry my bad. I thought you did it since you have the skills. Again I couldn’t find anyone braking down how to make fur for animals that’s why I ask you for it. Thanks again for repaying and I am eagerly waiting for your upcoming work.
Man I just binge watched all your content. Thank you for all this knowledge now I'm trying to get what I want exactly. Hope you can make more videos, best hair content, hands down.
Ha thanks a lot, really appreciate it.
I've a question on adding more guide curves. Earlier in the series we created the bangs seperately. Now when we add more, how do we make sure they belong to the "bangs" attribute group we created in order to control them using the Bangs node setup? Did I miss something obvious?
Hey, that's a really good question actually. After all you don't need the "bangs" boolean attribute as such, you can also separate them by using a mask. If you want to continue with the workflow in the video, you could split up you hair for the to create bangs and main hair guides (by duplicating and using the attribute for deletion), then add more guides to your bangs and combine those 2 hair objects again. This seems a bit more tedious than using a mask instead really. Geometry nodes no gave us so many ways of dealing with a situation and my approach from the video is really just how I initially attacked it. Probably nowadays I would stick with using masks instead ;)
@@stefanmayr1983 Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that I could just use masks. It's just a little annoying that we need to jump into the shader editor to visualise where the masks are when we start to do some live editing and maths on them to create cutouts.
Hello, you don't need to change to the shader editor as such. If your mask image node is selected (yes, this needs to be done in shader editor) it will show in the viewport if you change the display to texture
I just wanted to say thank you for this series. It is absolutely incredible. I can't wait to see the last few bits and pieces added.
Thank you very much for your nice comment. Yeah, there was supposed to come one final video with extra baby hair around the edges and shading,, however life kicked in and I've gotten really busy.. No sooooo long after the initial videos, I almost feel it's too late for that
@@stefanmayr1983 thank you so much sir for the beautiful work you have done and I love your explanation on how to work it out 🙏❤️❤️
@@stefanmayr1983 I understand, but it would be really nice to see how you approach doing some edging like this. I'm guesing that you just draw a mask on your main mas and populate that with smaller length hairs all facing the direction of the growth. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but could the growth direction be controlled with the normals of the mesh somehow? Maybe using the cross product and adding some kind of swirl noise to it or something like that? Maybe hand-painting would just give you better control and a more natural feeling. Just throwing out some ideas.
