Can u help me do mine
Happy to help anyway I can!
Hey dude, thanks for sharing! Wanted to know if there’s more videos coming out? I have an 81’ corvette and I’m trying to swap out the engine and transmission by next year. Wanted to see what other things to look out for or what things you came across while doing your swap. Thanks again!
Yes more videos are coming, I promise. I have documented the entire build, once I have everything edited, I’ll post them up. Thanks for your support. It means a ton.
no more videos? great stuff man!
Thanks so much. I have a ton of content on the vette build. I will eventually get it edited and posted. Life happens sometimes. Thanks for your support!
Just got the 282 set clearanced out at Lowes, for $51 haha, only issue was it had fallen from shelf storage, so they repackaged it in a HD small moving box, and labeled it, guess no one read or cared, used the paper list to check, all the tools were there, just no trays, and no packaging haha. I have snap on, matco, etc at work, but I have icon at home, and craftsman set thatll live in the trailer, to use when at racing events and etc. Found a discontinued Icon 36" roller cabby, second hand on market place for $800, the original owner had upgraded to a larger icon box and hutch, so it was a great find. Great video btw, just ordered m12 fuel toolset, looking for battery deals right now.
Thanks for watching!
Where did you get that femder cover?
I believe it was from zip 👍
Are you by chance in Oxford, MI?
I am not… a different alley. Thanks for watching!
Why would they get rid of this set?
There are 8 bolts that hold the birdcage to the frame... makes it a whole lot easier to replace the engine, trans and do the suspension with the body/cage off the frame.
Stay tuned, I end up taking the body off. It’s coming.
What tool box do you have ?
Husky 52”
super excited to see what you do with the rest of the build! looking at getting a C3 myself
Thanks! Stay tuned! I have a video coming up that will talk about what I’ve learned after 15 years of owning a c3
thanks for the info on the gun like the modification was actually thinking of buying one of these
It’s a decent set up for the money. You can get great results, but prep is key! Thanks so much for watching.
Thank you for this! I was under the impression that pulling the engine with the trans wasn't an option on the c3 Hope to see more!
I thought the same until Axemanchad showed me the way! I’m preparing to pull the body off the frame. Stay tuned! Thanks so much for your support
Good first video! I’ve been eyeing solutions myself. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks! I’ve had my foam fit tools for over a year and love the solution. It’s pricey, but it truly is the ultimate solution. I want to check out tracemyspace, I think they can label your foam. That would be cool, it this solution is great as well.
@@OxfordAlley ya I just watched your year review of having it. You had me on the site looking at the thicknesses to see if it would fit in my shelves. One quick question for you, since it’s been a whole year - in the event you expand tools in the future, do you have a plan? Aka have you still left any drawers empty or spaces left on any of them that you could just cut new tools into yourself?
@@Andrew_Sherman I do have some space on my main top drawer. My impacts (blue) are packed tighter. I have a couple other drawers free still. I don’t think I would try cutting my own holes for new tools. If I need to add to it, I would consider having them make me a new insert. Fill your drawers up front! I did a video on kaizen foam and cutting it out yourself. It looks as amateur as you would imagine. Thanks for watching. I’m ramping up to take the body off the vette. I hope you subscribe to follow along.
@@OxfordAlley already did so I can!
Craftsman has a lifetime warranty evidently you don’t do too much work on stuff or you’d know that. You’re a tool culture vulcher lol
Use foam insulation foam behind the plastic trays and they’ll stay good
I'll follow you, to watch your build for sure. I just finished pulling/rebuilding/installing my eng/trans (M21) in my '74. I can share with you a couple things I learned. 1. the Radiator and Support do not need to be removed as long as everything is pulled off the front of the engine - minus the Harmonic Balancer. 2. I, luckily, found a cherry picker with an extended arm that allowed me to do everything from the nose, because my first attempt (by myself) with a regular cherry picker failed. Just too hard to move sideways. 3. I replaced my engine wiring harness while the bay was empty. Anyway, Eng/trans is back in the car and now I am at the point of converting my ignition to HEI as opposed to the old Points system. I see yours has HEI already - maybe you have information to share on "how to" do that conversion? Best to you!
Great video ! Lots of helpful tips I’m 17 & got myself a 81 C3 Vette - planing on swapping my 305 with sum POWER
Good luck! Thanks. It might be awhile before I get to the 396 blueprint install, but stay tuned. Lots more fun coming up before the engine install
I just did this recently, you ended up much much much less dirty than I did!!! Fun Channel!
Thanks so much! I did a good bit of cleaning before the big day.
Just had the same setup delivered a few days ago. Excited to open it up and get buffing.
Very clear presentation! Nice layout of the Eastwood buffer and explanation of the various included bufcing pads!
Wow, that's a great demonstration and modification of the powder coating gun! Great enthusiasm throughout the video!
Great explanation and fun process! Love the pace you kept up with video and comments! Can't wait to see your progress!
Use a hydraulic brake system you will like that breaking is much better it works off of your power steering pump
NICE!! Thanks for the edited clip! I think you've done a good job at what I've seen so far in this 1st episode. The whole front clip cover and the adjustable spreader bar is a good idea. I'm thinking though that I may use a 4 ton come-a-long tied to an overhead beam, then move the car backwards as I'm tilting motor out (I've done this on a '63 SS Impala). I might have to raise the rear as well I'm guessing since it is lower to the ground... or unbolt tranny first.
That should work! It’s not a bad job. The leveler I used worked great!! If you happen to get one, I left the link to mine in the description.
Good video... Def helpful if I need to pull the engine / trans from my 1980 C3
Thanks I appreciate it! I am in the planning stages of pulling the body off. Stay tuned!
@@OxfordAlley Nice... I'll keep an eye out
Hey thanks for sharing your channel looking forward to watching this series
Yeah I like that allot. That’s awesome
Thanks!!
If you break it you get a free replacement. You don't have to go on ebay to look.
Why didn't you just take the diffuser off for free and get the same result? That's what I did.
I felt like taking off the diffuser made it worse. I’ll try your method next time. Thanks for watching!!
I was able to pick the same set up at lowes right before Thanksgiving (2020) for $112.00. I had to have it at that price and it was the last one they had. All the other Lowes in the area had it at the $161.00 price that you got it for. Very happy with it and I have used it on a few projects. It was great to get a deal I usually miss out.
Glad you got the deal! Seems like I see tons of people posting their bargains, but I really see them! Cheers. Thanks for watching!
I'd like to see your entire cart maybe a video walk through with this foam
I will try to do that for you! We are bout to start up the corvette project. Thanks for watching!
That’s tip was helpful and thanks for sharing. That deserves a like and sub!!. That is crazy how much powder is wasted, is it possible to scoop it up and reuse it??
Thanks!!! It would be hard to reclaim that powder. I don’t recommend bothering. Thanks for the sun! The vette project is about to start!
💪👍💯
Thanks for your support! More videos to come!
I don't subscribe to anyone who uses Milwaukee Chinese owned garbage
“What are you gonna do when you break it?” Lifetime warranty bro. Take it to Lowe’s or Home Depot and get a brand new one for free.
I hear ya. The last time I tried to get a tool replaced at lowes they wanted the receipt from sears along with a sample of my DNA before they told me to deal with the manufacture (Stanley). Just my experience and my local lowes. I think the red tool that the orange bucket people (HomeDepot) sell is Milwaukee.
Nice Video, too bad I had to endure 3:30 seconds of adverts I have no interest in to watch it. I sense the demise of YT. Thank for the review!
Thanks for the comments. It was the first video I ever made.
Less of the annoying clanging sounds!!!
The small black plastic piece on the front, called the diverter tip, is pushed waayyyyy too close to the barrel. You don't need the piece of PVC, you just need to pull off the diverter tip when doing small pieces like that. For an object the size of a plate, put the diverter on so it is flush with the end of the metal rod. Anything smaller, remove the diverter entirely. You have it choked up far enough to coat a 4 foot square sheet. Loving that rust cleanup though, good job.
Great idea! Thanks for the tip!
On those blow molded trays if you wanted to make them more sturdy and last longer fill the back side with spray foam.
That is a fantastic idea! However, I gotta say the foam is pretty awesome
I like the look but they are not space-efficient. Laying combination wrenches flat takes up way more room than the wrench racks. Same thing with pliers. Pliers racks save so much more space if the pliers are stored on their sides. Again, I like the look but most pros don't like them.
I totally agree, I’m a weekend warrior so I have the luxury of space. Thanks so much for watching. Just ordered my 396 blueprint engine for the corvette build. I’d love it if you subscribe.
I bought 2 sets and going to point out details you missed
Thanks! This was my first UA-cam video ever. Just learning, be nice :)
If it breaks, they still have a lifetime warranty. No need to throw it away
I just hate sending a nice nice tool to the scrap yard. You have a Good point, hopefully Lowe’s would swaps it out “hassle free”! Thanks so much for watching my very first UA-cam video.
@@OxfordAlley definitely getting a subscription from me...good content so far...keep it up
Thanks so much! Means a lot. Lots of cool content coming up!
I was able to get this set for $104.30.
That’s an incredible deal! Thanks for your feedback! If your looking to organize that set in your toolbox, check out my Foam Fit Tool video :-)
@@OxfordAlley There is another set at a store across town, but they still want 249.98 for it. I took them my receipt with the closeout price and they refused to match it. I am going to keep my eye on it.
@@billgoble6209 absolutely! Keep me posted. I love this set, and even more, love when people get good deals!
What's store??
@@Ninoo187 Lowe’s
I've always wanted to powder coat my calipers. . might just have to try this, thank you!
It really is easy and the results are spectacular :-) thanks for checking out my video!
Great job 👍🏻
Thank you! Once you get set up at home, you will want to powder coat everything!
Well it has a warranty look at the box It has a full lifetime warranty
Growing up with my Grandpa, he didn't have any Snap-On, Matco, Sk, etc. either. What he did have was Craftsman... yet he could fix, make, fabricate, service, repair, wire, tune up, re build, re purpose, break down, set up, re paint, re finish, prototype and put into production anything.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Snap-on is so overrated and ridiculously overpriced!! For cars, Mac and Craftsman are the best tools hands down.
Agree on the stand.
It’s a must have! These buff motors are no joke. Thanks for watching! I have a ton of corvette parts that I’ll be buffing. Thanks for subscribing!
Great lay out of what comes with the kit! Can't wait for corvette restoration!
In most cases it possibly would had been more easier to use a flat tip metal scraper to lift and remove the traced out areas it would had been useful quick and convenient and you possibly could had even marked off the scraper itself for the depth and particular layer of your desired choice but with each demestration you always learn something new great video though ☕😉✌
Thanks I really appreciate it! These are my first couple of videos before I start the C3 Corvette build. Thanks for subscribing!!!!
