    United states is the absolute worst at medical treatment of poisonous snake bites.THE WORST

    • @TheRayInLA
      @TheRayInLA 3 роки тому

      I'm not sure by what metric the US is "worst in the world" at treating venomous snakebite. The fatality rate for venomous snakebite in the US is somewhere around 1 for every 1500 cases, +/-. That's lower than any other region aside from Western Europe, which only has Vipera.

    In North America, first hot practice snakes, water snakes. There kinda mouthy butt heads! When you get comfortable, then maybe copperhead.

  • @cablewaffel7957
    @cablewaffel7957 3 роки тому

    Copperheads have killed more people than the most venomous snake in the world. Toxicity doesnt mater.

    • @TheRayInLA
      @TheRayInLA 3 роки тому

      Yes, (US) copperheads have killed more people than taipans. Toxicity does matter, but the point is that it's not the ONLY thing that matters, and it probably matters considerably less than the quantity of venom and other factors.

    Baby snakes are more dangerous because they are more insecure, therefore more defensive, and therefore will strike sooner. Babies are less likely to be be socialized. Look at some hatching videos of bullsnakes, the snakes come out of the eggs hissing and striking to defend themselves.

    • @TheRayInLA
      @TheRayInLA 3 роки тому

      @ZealousFoxtrot - Sorry, but none of this is correct. It is often true that juvenile snakes will be more nervous and more inclined to bite, but this does NOT make them more dangerous. The most important factor in a snake's potential "dangerousness" is the combination of the toxicity and quantity of venom it delivers. The quantity of venom baby snakes deliver is a small fraction of that delivered by adult snakes.

      Those snakes are probably as happy as can be. Snakes dont need to move around a lot. They enjoy small, dark spaces.

    4 years old. I was obsessed with dinosaurs and living reptiles. realised I was never going to have raptor as a pet so I got literally obsessed with snakes. got my first snake when I was 12 cause my parents were (relatively) scared of snakes. they would get super interested them when they were behind glass but my mom was terrified of my 9inch baby corn snake.i am 13 at the time of this writeing and since I got Maple(who is said corn snake) I am set on eventually being a private hot keeper.

    Amazing, so what do you recommend as my first-time venomous snake, I was thinking of a cottonmouth. Since I like it so much and would treat it with respect! Either that or a coral snake. But a coral snake would have to be more down the hand? Right?

    • @coosbaycrackhead
      @coosbaycrackhead 7 років тому

      coral snakes are in the same family as cobras (elipdae) even tho' pretty docile, not a good beginner snake. i recommend a hognose Sp. or a mangrove Sp. Just a thought for ya.

    • @cablewaffel7957
      @cablewaffel7957 3 роки тому

      The best starter venomous snake is somebody else's. You get experience taking care of someone else's snake while they teach you the ropes, then you get yourself into your own snake. I would recommend a mangrove snake.
