Malia Henderson, a Miami, Florida native, is a graduate of Alabama State University, Department of Theatre Arts, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance. Within The ASU BFA Dance program she has received numerous opportunities to perform and work with prominent artists such as Ronald K. Brown, Crystal Perkins, Jana B. Thompkins and Kara Mack which has allowed her to expand her movement vocabularies of West African, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Contemporary dance. During this time Ms. Henderson was also a member of Komanse Dance Theater in Atlanta, Ga under the direction of Raianna C. Brown. Her training has assisted her development into the multi-disciplinary dancer and choreographer that she became. Malia now resides in Los, Angeles CA where she will continue to define herself as a movement artist, creative, and artistic advocate by engaging in dance and performing arts projects and organizations that assist in enhancing communities’ access to the arts.
