    I have been to Takamatsu a few years ago and visited this shopping street, but I didnt know that it is the longest shoppig street. We went into a small bar serving wine by the glass, and ended up having a tasty spanish meal there (I normally always eat japanese food when in Japan), and had a lovely evening there. P.S. seafood and cheese ramen, what a very unusual combination. I love seafood, and I love cheese, but the combination seems really strange.

    I like the goldfish at the end of the video, that would make for a great souvenir. A lot of conveyor belt sushi restaurants are actually now not real kaiten sushi restaurants anymore. Is this because of the incident several years ago, when stupid teenagers licked some sushi and put it back on the conveyor belt ? Or is it for other reasons (like economical reasons) ?

    • @EnjoyTravelJapan
      @EnjoyTravelJapan 23 дні тому

      The reason for not opening is that with a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, sales are the same whether they rotate the sushi or not. I think this is the most likely reason. If they rotate the sushi, it goes to waste. It also incurs extra costs. If sales would be the same whether they opened or not, they wouldn't rotate the sushi. I think that's the reason. This is just my own personal imagination.

    You were in the Tokyo area for a business trip. So where is your home ?

  • @swissfoodie3542
    @swissfoodie3542 25 днів тому

    Do I understand this correctly: you were around Tokyo for several days on a business trip, and tried out different hotels during that time ? And in each hotel, you stayed only for one night ? That sounds so stressful to me, it would have been so much more relaxing to stay in one hotel for the whole time. But maybe you did so, to show different hotels in your videos ? This hotel is again very cheap, and I like that you have acess to a public bath. That is always a big plus for me. It however lacked the "special details" that the 2 other hotels you shared with us have.

    • @EnjoyTravelJapan
      @EnjoyTravelJapan 25 днів тому

      I went to Tokyo for about 4 days! I moved to a different place every day, so I stayed in a different place every day! I stayed at each hotel for one night! If you're staying in a specific place, it's more relaxing to stay in one hotel for multiple nights. This time, I moved a lot, so I stayed in different places. I was able to stay at various good hotels and had a good experience! They were all cheap and nice places.

  • @swissfoodie3542
    @swissfoodie3542 26 днів тому

    Again, really amazing value for money ! And even a public bath with sauna, thats great. I find it wonderful that in Japan, all the hotels are so clean and even though often the rooms are very small, you will find everything you need there. Like a water kettle, a fridge, air freshener, humidifier, shoehorn and many other things. About breakfast: I very much like buffets, and also japanese set meals with grilled fish, miso soup, pickles etc. What I cant eat, is natto (I think you must be japanese to like it). And what I find very strange for breakfast is salad. I like salad, but not for breakfast. But different countries, different tastes 🙂.

    • @EnjoyTravelJapan
      @EnjoyTravelJapan 26 днів тому

      Thank you for your comment. It's great because you can stay at a hotel very cheaply depending on the timing! The room layout and equipment are similar in all hotels. Most of the rooms are small. It's nice to have a hotel with a large bath and sauna. Natto is very delicious. Sadly, many Japanese people don't like natto. It's nice to be able to choose the ingredients you like at a buffet. I'm curious to see what kind of salad they have.

    The crab miso soup looked so good. I never had crab in a miso soup, and I think it is very tasty. I like sushi restaurants where you can watch the chef prepare the sushi (like this restaurant). Last year in Kumamoto, we had sushi omakase, and I also enjoyed that a lot, because that way, we got to eat sushi that we usually dont order (or dont know). And the chef was so skilled and friendly. The tourist spot I went to was Himeji Castle. I always go to Himeji looking for delicious food. There are many cheap and delicious izakayas. An izakaya is a restaurant that serves alcohol and food, and is a Japanese-style drinking establishment. I think you should go to Himeji Castle at least once. I looked up tourist spots in Himeji. 1. Kokoen, the former garden of the Nishiyashiki of Himeji Castle. A Japanese garden that you can enjoy while looking at Himeji Castle. 2. Japan Toy Museum, where 5,000 toys from Japan and abroad are displayed in a white-walled storehouse. 3. Azuki Museum, Japan's first azuki bean museum. Learn about azuki beans in a fun way. 4. Shoshazan Onkyoji Temple, where temples and towers stand deep in the mountains on Mount Hiei in the west. 5. Taiyo Park, a theme park with a white castle as its symbol. Experience the feeling of traveling around the world. 6. Himeji City Zoo, where you can enjoy watching animals while looking at Himeji Castle. 7. Hiromine Shrine, an ancient shrine associated with Kanbei Kuroda, a famous general representing the Sengoku period.

They're called knowledgeable teacups. I learned a lot! Thank you!

    I have a question: there is some sushi that you call gunkan, which means warship, right ? So gunkanjima near Nagasaki is warship island ?

    • @EnjoyTravelJapan
      @EnjoyTravelJapan Місяць тому

      Thank you for your comment. I have never really wondered about the origin of the word or how it was called. I did a little research on this. It seems that it came to be called "gunkanmaki" because it looks like a warship. Gunkanmaki was invented in 1941 (Showa 16) by the owner of the sushi restaurant "Kyube" in Ginza, Tokyo, at the time, Imada Toshiharu, in response to a customer's order. He perfected it by fixing salmon roe and sea urchin, which had not previously been familiar as sushi toppings, in the rice instead of rolling them into a ball. I learned a lot, thank you!

      @@EnjoyTravelJapan I also learned a lot. So, thanks to you as well. This kind of things is really precious to me. To learn more, to share things, and to communicate with people. I enjoy communicating with you. We are from totally different cultures, but we share the love for tasty food. And its nice to learn more about other cultures and traditions in my opinion.

    Miso soup with clams is the best soup to go with japanese food in my opinion. The sushi looked really tasty. The only thing I dont like, is sushi with shrimp. Which is really strange, because I love cooked, grilled, deep fried, tempura etc. shrimps a lot - but I dont like it at all in sushi.

      I love clam miso soup too! There are many other kinds of miso soup with different flavors. Miso soup is also one of the most profound dishes. It's sad that people don't like shrimp in sushi. I'm glad that I can enjoy shrimp in other ways. I think many people don't like raw shrimp because it has a unique texture and a slight smell. I like boiled or steamed shrimp.

    This looks so special, especially the bucket of oysters that you can put on the BBQ ! I thought that the spa is a hotel with a private bath, but it seems that you can rent it just for a few hours to enjoy the facilities. Is that right ?

      Thank you for your comment! The spa can be reserved for private use from 11:00 to 14:00 (reservation required) in one-hour increments. I don't know if other accommodations or glamping facilities can be used on an hourly basis. The spa is free for guests staying at the hotel for one hour.

      I have never been to the Bahamas, but have seen some beautiful pictures from there. What is a traditional food from your country ? I am from Switzerland, and one of the traditional foods from here, is cheese fondue, which is basicall melted cheese with white wine, and we dip pieces of bread into it. Sounds a bit strange, but its delicious. Google for more details.

    After you checked in to a love hotel, and I saw the lovely looking outdoor bathtub, and your title, I was thinking that you would eat ramen in the outdoor bathtub. But no, you just went to a ramen shop, and the ramen part of the video was about 40 seconds long. But still, good fun, because it triggered my curiousity.

    I love almost all japanese food: gyoza, gyudon, sushi, kaisendon, shabu shabu, sukiyaki, tempura, tamagoyaki, yakitori, takoyaki, yakisoba, udon, soba, unagi, uni etc. etc. But my favorite japanese food is ramen - I could eat ramen every day when I am in Japan. So I am looking forward to see, how you are making ramen even better ;-). Lets watch the video.

    I guess the "hack" is to dip the piece of fish into the miso soup / hot broth ? Is that to make the fish feel warm or to cook it a little bit ? I would try this, but definitely not what you did at the end, when you dropped the whole pieces of meat sushi into the ramen broth.

      The trick this time is to dip it in dashi. Dashi = umami. Add the umami of dashi to the fish. That effect makes it taste better than sushi. That's the image I have. I'm not comfortable putting sushi in ramen soup. But when I tried it, it was delicious. Thank you for your comments!
