The “good” modern Dark Magician decks are all hybrid based DM decks. If you’re playing a traditional style DM deck with maybe a small selection of Handtraps or other Going Second cards then it’s gonna be a struggle to win consistently in the higher ranks. Not impossible, just difficult because of the power creep against DM cards. For example, these are the changes I’d suggest looking into for your deck. -1 Dark Magician -1 Magician of Chaos -1 Chronicle Magician -2 The Eye of Timaeus -1 or -2 Dark Magical Circle -1 Secrets of Dark Magic -1 Magician’s Salvation -2 Swords of Revealing Light -1 Thousand Knives -1 Dark Magic Attack -1 Piercing the Darkness -1 Eternal Soul -2 Dark Magician the Dragon Knight -2 Master of Chaos -1 or -2 The Dark Magicians -2 Quintet Magician I’d suggest playing these cards as well 2-3x Illusion of Chaos (best Main Deck card in the archetype) 1-3x Preparation of Rites (amount depends on how many IOC above you play, and space after engines were added, you decide) 2-3x Soul Servant (3 is recommended for Pure DM, it’s the best Backrow in the archetype) 1x Artemis the Magistus Moon Maiden 1x Imduk the World Chalice Dragon 1x Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy 1x Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians 1x Accesscode Talker It’s a lot of changes for sure. But you’ll see that usually the worst cards in any DM deck, are the DM cards themselves. lol. And not everything I’ve mentioned like Dharc, Selene, or Accesscode are necessary to the deck. They’re just common picks for Pure DM lists. The only relevant combo within the entire DM archetype is Magician’s Rod + Magicians’ Souls anyways. But the idea is to remove a lot of the excess DM clutter to make room for outer engines. But this is where it can get complicated. There is a large variety of engines that DM can play and some can go very deep design wise. Some of the more common engines, Toy Box (newest) Dogmatika Diabellstar Branded Bystial Restage There’s a few more engines in addition to these like Kashtira, Buster, Horus but I’m not really a fan of them myself. I know this is a lot to read lol but unfortunately that’s the state of DM atm. My recommendation to you, is to add in those missing DM staples and learn as much about DM’s playstyle before you advance to outer engines.

Ditch allomerus for dugares you still got the revive if you need it, double attack comes up to otk but you can revive bagooska which comes up in a grind game if you need to stall a bit.
