I used to commute Route 61/924 to work Pottsville- Hazleton. Always got a good laugh at the telephone pole cracked in half being held up by a wire tied around a tree (1:38 on this video. I wonder if it will survive the Route 61 rebuild.

It's been 6 years since I have been back in PA. Used to own a home in Pottsville back in the 90's. Still have many relatives still in the Pottsville, Schuylkill Haven, Port Carbon, Deer Lake Area.

The title had me confused. Gold Store ???. No, Gold Star. Haven't driven up that way in many many years. As it was the only way to get from Pottsville to Hazleton as Interstate 81 was not built yet.

Was no bypass road around St. Clair back in the late 60's and early 70's . Had to drive thru the town.

Will be taking this ride down 61 later this year. I pulled many mobile homes from the " Burlington " factory in St. Clair back in the early 70's.

Used to drive Route 61 in the 60's thru the 90's . Pottsville was my home back then. Oh, The memories.

I was born in Pottsville, PA. Know these roads very well. Retired out west. Was back for vacation in 2018. Thanks for the memory trip. I will be back there on vacation this fall.
