SNES Game Review - Lagoon
Welcome back to Mediocre Gaming, where we take on Super Nintendo classics with our slightly above-average gaming skills. Today, we're diving into Lagoon on the SNES, a game that promises action, adventure, and a lot of... well, let's just say it's a bit of a grind. Is it a hidden gem or should it stay buried in the past? 🧙‍♂️
Join me as I fumble through this RPG's cryptic story, face off against questionable enemy AI, and try not to rage quit before the final boss. If you like sarcastic commentary, unfiltered opinions, and really questionable gameplay decisions, you’re in the right place! 👍

I remember this game. I still have nightmares about the boss rooms. Although there was a great line about how "light gives us hope and energy, darkness gives us rest and peace" near the end of the game that rocked young me as being way too deep for a 16 bit SNES game.

Fun fact: I got my first ocular migraine while playing this game when I was 12. Thought I was going to be permanently blind. So yeah this holds a special place in my heart.

I was so into SNES and Genesis that practically every game seemed awesome to me until I actually rented it or bought it and realized some were bad. I remember looking at the box for Lagoon and being sure it was awesome and "next level".

Nasir's tiny sword makes a bit more sense when you consoder that the X68000 version has bump style combat like early Ys games. Or maybe more like Xak since it seems you still have to press a button to have your sword out? I don't think the game's poor quality can be blamed entirely on the port job ( it's fun to see Kemco here already publishing mediocrity though!) but I would like to play the original some time.

This was one of my first SNES games. I taped the intro screen on VHS because the music was so good. Both my SNES and VHS are long gone, but I still remember that game had great music.

This sounds like the plot to Space Jam but a little bit of a weaker plot.
