Here's a simple guide to get you started:
Gather Your Supplies: You'll need basic drawing supplies such as pencils, erasers, sketchpads, and colored pencils or markers. High-quality paper can make a big difference in the final look of your illustrations.
Understand Human Proportions: Begin by learning the basic proportions of the human body. Fashion illustrations often use elongated figures, but it's essential to understand the fundamentals before stylizing. Practice drawing simple figures and gradually add more details.
Start with Simple Shapes: Break down the body into simple shapes like circles, ovals, and rectangles. This helps in blocking out the basic form and ensures your proportions are accurate.
Create a Pose: Think about the pose you want your model to be in. Fashion illustrations often feature dynamic and expressive poses. Use a light touch to sketch out the basic pose before adding details.
Add Facial Features and Hair: Once you have the basic body shape, add facial features and hair. Keep the face simple, as the focus is usually on the clothing. Experiment with different hairstyles to complement your designs.
Design the Outfit: This is the most exciting part!
Start sketching your clothing design onto the figure. Think about how the fabric will drape and move on the body. Don't be afraid to experiment with different styles and details.
