Lovely.
How much hp?
Would you have the plans, as thinking of making a Merlin engine..
Nice to see one in 1/4 scale to fit the 1/4 scale p-51 .
Many years ago my father knew a very skilled machinist, who was also a model maker. This man made a model steam engine (train) that was 1 inch long and ran on compressed gas (butane.) Turn it upside down, fill if from a can of lighter gas, put in the the track, (4 inches in diameter on a shelf) and the little train engine would run round in circles for about 10 seconds, then get so cold the condensation became frost, and it froze up. This was about 40 years ago, so no video. He also had a working steam railway in his garden, can;t remember the gauge, 4? 5? 6 inches. It ran through the garden, into the kitchen, down the hall, out the front door and back into the garden. He was very popular for hosting kids birthday parties.
the world before covid, people gathering with no fear.
Looking at these is like looking at an exquisite gemstone. Excellent workmanship.
Now all you need to do is build a 1/8th scale P-51 or spitfire around it. Or Even cooler then that, put it in a 1/8th scale Me-109, that would be hot, a 109 with a spitfire engine.
The Spanish Buchon.
Wonderful. Now make plans/CNC programs or parts available. Or sell kits or engines to RCers. Somebody begin putting these in Mustangs!
An absolute jewel of model engineering. A LOT of time and patience goes into a build like this. Priceless!!!! Thanks for sharing. Take care Stay safe
That is totally awesome!!
How much this baby cost? Great to see them in the model Spitfire or P51 Mustang
i want two for a 1/8th mosquito
I would love to have a half scale 150!!!!!
It must be a glow engine
Personally, I think it would make an excellent power source for a '60s or '70s Unlimited Hydroplane. I was always a fan of those old front engined monsters.
1/8th the power?
@@davidjacobs8558 thanks
Now we just need to fit it in a spitfire
The distributor had arcs jumping all over it. A little more insulation would make it run more smoothly. ;)
The distributor has a clear cap.
I need 2 of those for my kmp p-38!
A work of art if I’ve ever seen one.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Honestly model wise, this the Best thing I have EVER seen on UA-cam. High compression and straight thru exhaust. Sooo siickk!!!
@ronnie doorzon dude for real. He even CUT THE KEY to the same cut as ferrari's car. He had to learn how to vulcanize rubber for the tires, and had help from ferrari engineers when he was recreating the gearbox. It's so outlandishly bonkers that you could 100% take a tiny shrunken down person in and they could drive it around as if the car itself was shrunk down from its full version.
She's a beauty!
Hi im looking to see if you're interested in selling tour traction engine
At 0.36 the finished cord is wrapped around the capstan pull-off and it IS SLIPPING. This can lead to afoul-up if the braiding point moves down to the moving bobbins. Best idea is to get rid of that double roller pull-off system and install a single large pull-off capstan. With multiple wrap arounds it won't slip and is easier to thread up. Just a suggestion from Australia.
Ok..so... I need 2 of these and who do I make the check out to?
I would love to see four in an RC lancaster
Or 2 in a Mosquito....
.... dreaming of being a millionaire I would buy some of these
Ouch! It's so out of tune!
Please contact my husband he is really wanting to buy this traction or one like it
Id like to buy one for my husband for his RC P-51 mustang airplane he built that he's just missing the engine to put in his RC P-51 mustang air plane
Hi there my husband harry bobb wants to talk to you and he wants to buy your steam traction engine please call us at 5744012465 so he can talk to you
Would you be interested in selling it i want to buy it if your interested
That's super neat-o!
Holy crap. Why isn't this on an rc plane?
Zoes Dada because he probably don’t want to smash 3-5 years of work into the ground :).. but I agree, if someone starts producing these I’ll be the first one to order one and put in a spit
Jerker Gustafsson a spitfire design would be the best choice for an rc, no?
Jerker Gustafsson really? After paying $50k+ you would put that on a flying model? There is probably 6000 highly skilled hours in that. In fact $50k would be ridiculously cheap. You should be paying 3 yrs salary of a master tool and die maker. So 100s of thousands.
@@jerkergustafsson623 He (Richard Yeagley, retired master machinist) spent something like 3 years making the drawings and another 7 machining all the parts, learning how to make the porcelain spark plug insulators, little stuff like that. I was there that day, and I talked with him. A completely humble, unassuming old man with supernatural talent.
And it provably isn’t powerful enough or reliable enough to risk in a flying model. Engines don’t necessarily scale well.
Where do you find the half scale steam engines
What price
How can I get one?
Make it
peterg2yt you have to pridnear be a genius. Make one he says, ha! Do you have any idea the math and machining skills necessary to duplicate at 1/8 scale a RR V12 with multistage supercharger. Why the different metallurgies alone is extremely impressive.
Do you have any for sale now ??
Yes, we still have braiders for sale. Check our website for contact information - www.cabinfeverexpo.com Thanks!
wwwtexiner.ru
I want to see an rc p-51 with that motor in it!
I'm sure you meant to say Spitifre right? I mean, right? Yes?
One could.....OR....one could build a miniature GRIFFON.... >:o)
Andy R Later p51’s changed the Allison for the Merlin
@@silkysatinmoments Mustang means Mustang. But thanks for sharing with the group.
Wouldn’t be that hard! Quarter scales aren’t that uncommon
wow I would kill to get my hands on this what an amazing little car
Have you sold the lathe ?
l wish this machine has been waiting me
i would have if i knew about it
should have brought around $700 to $900 at auction.
If that, I mean the extra chucks are nice to have but the tool post is something i'd change out and the condition of the drive and gearing is questionable.
wow..
is it still for sale?\
Does anyone know who built this model? I am going to begin building a full-scale model inspired by this design, but have so far been unable to find drawings or images good enough to make a model from.
top speed???
