Convergence Insufficiency: Vision Difficulties May Indicate Long-Term Post-Concussion Consequences
Follow news on brain injury studies, reports, and research at brainlaw.com/brain-injuries/studies/
Screening of patients in hospital emergency departments for concussions and other types of traumatic brain injury is challenging due to the many ways symptoms may manifest.
Repeated studies have shown that emergency departments often fail to properly diagnose concussions leading to the inability of individuals to receive timely or proper treatment.
And even when a concussion is diagnosed, there is often a failure to assess the patient for a risk of future consequences previously called the post-concussion syndrome and now known as persistent post concussive symptoms.
A new study emphasizes the need to screen patients for ocular difficulties in the emergency department as an accurate tool to assess the risk of developing long term post-concussion consequences.
The study examines screening for convergence insufficiency symptoms.
Convergence insufficiency affects the ability of both eyes to work together to form a single image resulting from damage to the nerves controlling eye muscles.
Common symptoms include visual fatigue, double vision, headaches, or trouble concentrating.

These pregnant pauses in his verbal presentation is annoyingly ridiculous. The mind does not process such broken speech. Add his poor diction and gravely voice, and this is almost useless. If this is the quality that comes out of De Caro and Kaplen attorneys, I'd never hire them. No jury could follow this style of speech. He is not a Brain Injury Insider. If he was, he would know that his presentation style is not effective.

My Dad had a TBI when he was 15, he was hit with a hurl playing hurling, basically a very hard wooden stick. It fractured his skull and he stayed in hospital for months. He was very intelligent and still is but has had a very tragic life, his marriage failed, he suffered with depression and anxiety his entire life. He’s 72 now. He was unemployed for most of his life, very disorganized and made bad decision after bad decision. He was always looked at as being lazy and a bit of a bum but I really think all his issues come from that injury when he 15.

This is very interesting to me, and sadly my father had an aneurysm back in 2005 which was 19 years ago, and sadly one of the issues he has is with memory, remembering what happened to him (when he had a car accident that nearly killed him) and also with his age. if someone could tell me what he possibly has then that would be great. he turns 67 today and every time we tell the truth my mom and i , he says he is not 60 something. it is so sad and even when he turns 70 or 80 he might say the same thing but i will move on and out by then. if my dad did not go to work then he would be the same, he was a smoker and always would drive recklessly . when my mother divorces my dad he will be in a senior home, another thing when he gets angry is aggression that is a dementia warning sign.

It's absolutely horrifying to learn US Navy personnel have to live with repeated traumatic brain injuries-caused by conditions of the job, i.e. riding on high speed boats-and that the Navy and Department of Defense refuse to acknowledge and resolve the conditions that cause CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy). CTE is the same destructive and life-changing brain disorder that affects thousands of men, young men, and boys who play American football. Thank you, De Caro & Kaplen, for your groundbreaking knowledge-sharing and efforts to keep the public informed.

Thank you so much. For your clearance on this matter. My brother got hit on the head by a door while bending in February of this year. He is not the some person we know. But his neurologist says he can't find anything. Its crazy b'se he has been a very active person. But he forgets,he will ask you the same question like five times and he gets so pissed when we tell him that he has already asked the same thing. Even his speech is off. His primary Dr who has known him for years was even shocked. But his workman's comp neurology says that has got nothing to do with his injury.

Good luck trying to obtaining these types of services in a settlement from Michigan Workers Comp system, it’s such a corrupt system in Michigan. My WC accident occurred Sept 2016, it’s still in ligation from my compressed skull fracture, from slip and fall, the upper left side skull hitting the edge of the stair. The WC insurance co and WC doctors lie, omit additional injury information like my neck/back and minimized my TBI injury to just a laceration. I still have a permanent 3 in dent on my skull from the point of impact and permanently effected my vision/eyes. I would love it if you were in Michigan to be my lawyer, your in NY. Do you know any good TBI lawyers in Michigan to refer me to? Thank you kindly for all your videos, I appreciate them very much 🧠🤕

I didn’t have enough time working on the books to qualify but I did qualify for SSI so I suggest you apply at Social Security. It’s only $943 a month but it’s better than nothing. I live in Florida. I got my two traumatic brain injuries from domestic violence. I also have post traumatic brain injury syndrome and ptsd. I have Aphasia and Pseudobulbar Affect. My case was expedited because I had more than one diagnosis that qualified me which was a surprise. We do Not get better ! But SS people can be mean and they randomly require you to prove again you’re disabled and go through your bank accounts atleast every 6 months which is stressful but I need money I am far below poverty level on just $943 a month so apply for SSI

I have been struggling more in the last 3 or so years and I recently realized/discovered that my multiple had injuries from abusive relationships could be the reason why I'm struggling so much, despite have 5+ years of therapy bc my concussions were never treated and no doctor has ever really looked into my issues or connected the dots. Thanks again ❤
