Cool video. It emphasises how many times his voice changed seemingly on a yearly basis. Enjoyed most of them but would quite gladly never hear the aloha version again.

He started out in Eb but then changed to D for the other versions. I think the original was the best and not because of the key but the arrangement was very solid; these live stage versions treat the song with disrespect I think by playing it too fast - which loses all the impact of those sliding chords and clever drum fill. The Christmas Special was the closest to the real thing.

--------- I think he was bored of his early music in later years. Also, I don't think he had the voice for some of his early hits, later on. BUT having said that, Elvis as a young man didn't have the type of voice for the music that 'later Elvis' could sing like an opera singer, so it's a wash and all balances out.

As time went by he sang less of the song, 1957:all 5 verses, 1968:4 verses, 1969:2 verses (1969 is an exception bc he used it in a medley), 1971:3 verses, 1972-1977: 2 verses, 1973:only the ending (he only used it for a medley)
