First of all, what a great video, wow. Do you think someone who’s 40 could work as a cruise photographer? I hike at least one mountain a week lol so I guess I’d have the energy, I’’m just worried if everyone else would be in their early 20s and weirded out by my ancient self.

Throughout my cruising experience, I've never failed to appreciate the extremely hard-working crew, in any role, who worked long hours, away from their family and friends back home, months at a time, just to make a living, and to support family members back home. Younger folks from G7 countries likely were working on cruise ships for the travel experience, short-term (a couple of years maybe) before ditching this life on the seas lifestyle, which I do not envy. Thank you Chilton, for your behind-the-scenes perspective as one of the ship's photographer.

Great vid! Really specific with everything! Photo stations (studio) were my favorite part of the job c: everyday was so different and guests were really good most of times 😄 it's really good to improve your model direction for another type of photography as well ! And thanks, I got melancholic at the end 😂 ❤

it sound more of a paparazzi work combined with sales than photography! what I am learning here is that, photographers work extra hours generally, do you get paid for that? Also, how are bonus like in this case per week? do you get paid weekly or monthly and if you do not mind, how much?

I just got back from a cruise to Bermuda. Cruise travel is an affordable way to see the island. From what I could tell, hotels are very expensive. I did a tour of the island one day. I also enjoyed a visit to the National Museum of Bermuda. It was an easy walk from the ship and they had good WiFi. I uploaded many of my photos there. I can imagine it would be hard for crew to take in the Island with your limited schedule.

Dude - this was great. I regret I never sailed on the ‘Joy.’ It would have been great to meet ya. I love NCL as I love The Haven. A quick question: I am American and I always tip/pay gratuities in USD, regardless of where in the world we’re sailing. Is this inconvenient or should I bring Euros/local currency too? And, as an insider, what makes a good passenger? You know, the folks you may encounter which make a great impression? I always flatter myself that I am the kind of pax that the staff will miss but you never know for sure…

Good show, but....Can you not find a video camera? It would improve your offerings. And when you DO use video, please pan SLOOOOWLY and in one direction. Watch how the pros do it.

I lied in this video. Crew Actually never get days off, MAYBE once or twice a month you will get a morning off to sleep in, but you still work that evening. Unless you are sick and under quarantine you work every day of your contract. I woke up at 4 :30 on this day and worked 3 hours before leaving, which Is why my roommate was only just waking up (1:21) . After I returned back to the ship, I worked Another 6 hours at night, all after walking around new York for 5 hours. - I am posting a video dedicated to my job on the 25th of October, if you want more Information.

Do all crew members get one day off a month? Either way it doesn’t seem enough since all the crew members work so hard.

Nice video! Even though you are just walking around, it’s still an experience. You can later focus more on a specific place as a crew member or as a vacationer. Either way thanks for taking your precious time to share your experiences and edit videos. Not easy when you don’t have a day off. If I could somehow vouch for all crew members to have at least one day off during the week, I would.
