Najwa, great to see you on Grid Mod sharing your stories. Congratulations on your new role! I also echo what you and Dr. Cook’s said that it’s very important that engineers share and learn about the new technologies and leverage data analytics to solve the problems and improve system reliability
Very encouraging learning of your groups advancing the grid. Excellent from an energy users' perspective. Thank you Dr. Cook.
As always well spoken and informative. Nice job Francis.
Great job Francis! Enjoyed this podcast!!
Proud student of my school and church and country Grenada. Blessings Francis. Your parents are happy with your successes. Keep going. ❤❤❤❤
Congratulations Francis 👏 So proud of your accomplishments 🇬🇩
A proud Grenadian ❤

Hi there! Here's a link to the circuit maps website: drpep.sce.com/drpep/
Great Mod Pod! It exudes the passion and joy of innovation. Thank you, Dr. Cook.
"When we learn how to store electricity, we will cease being apes ourselves; until then we are tailless orangutans. You see, we should utilize natural forces and thus get all of our power. Sunshine is a form of energy, and the winds and the tides are manifestations of energy. Do we use them? Oh, no! We burn up wood and coal, as renters burn up the front fence for fuel. We live like squatters, not as if we owned the property." ~ Thomas A. Edison
"Training" has always been the challenge! Hearing from Paul next year to highlight the progress proposed here is on my focus calender. Thanks Dr. Cook for shedding light on our grid transformation.
This has been one of my faves in the series. It seems clear that the technology needed to effectively manage the grid is in our reach. The biggest concern I have is what happens in deregulated states? Here in Pennsylvania, Investor-Owned distribution utilities cannot own generation. My question is what happens when the intelligent grid gains full control of power generation resources? Are they no longer buying power in a marketplace of generators or are they controlling assets they don't own? At the regulatory level this all gets very murky.
Great Job Rami.
Great info!
Thanks Tim - glad you enjoyed it!
Roadmapping with Rami - Love it! :)
Take away 1 - Buildings as grid assets with generation and storage will increase resiliency. Take away 2 - Cost per SF calculations should include lifecycle costs along with immediate costs
A fascinating conversation. I agree with the point that fleets will be the tip of the spear in vehicle electrification - particularly on Long Island where there is a lot of density in terms of last-mile delivery.
WOW! I am super thrilled by how this will add value to a discussion I'm having tomorrow.
Thanks for the kind words, Chris!
My take aways... Good project management practices, doing ordinary things with consistent monitoring and engagement will lead to success. Also in this new energy landscape, getting back to first engineering principles; check, validate, check, and revalidate is key as there is no playbook. Thank you Liz and Brett.
Visionaries' roadmap for unencumbered energy pioneers! Knowing our stakeholders to "drive" the design, or creative force. Pivotal! A must Grid Mod Pod Episode 16 ~ for motivating talent.
Thanks Dr. Cook and Mr. Brooks, for sharing your journey towards "no longer chasing PEAK" fór safe reliable energy!
Interesting to see in every single Podcast that nobody has mentioned the safety aspect of the DER penetration. The backfeed of all those DERS, specially behind the meter, and the reverse flow, and not modeling many of those assets within ADMS / OMS or any other Control Center app an perhaps the grid visibility offer to man crews in the field that's a big concern.
Communication and collaboration to honestly discuss the business cases would benefit utilities, developers, and customers! How can we facilitate and incentivize this? 🤔
The element of TIME must be integrated into this equation, i.e. the offloading of energy from car to grid is ridiculously long.... therefore it must occur on schedule and locale of humans' convenience.... "Read a book while recharging" at a library... or know that offloading must occur in time with weather activity of clouds/ rain/ snow.... proactive intentional behaviors. Thinking online... change management is exciting when "epoch meets epoch"!
This is very intriguing and interesting
So proud your articulate means you use to communicate this dynamic period of human evolution. Remember we change through our interactions with our tools.
Impressive how NCEMC has already been successful as a distribution operator and is providing visibility upstream. Nice job with this kick off episode.
Thanks for the kind words, Craig!
I'm becoming a superfan. If you want renewable generation to become the principal power source its essential to know the processes and thinking of the utility industry.
Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
What an amazing and full circle conversation!!
Thanks for the shout-out, Jason!
What an amazing full circle conversation!!!
Dr. Cook, your articulating of "process" to updating ageing patterns and behaviors, in your area of expertise, Grid Modernization, can/must be applied universally to all industries! Thank you for teaching us.
Fantastic discussion!
Thanks for the kind words, Drew!
True change pushers!
So exciting! Thanks Brett + Liz for sharing your expertise. You make your challenges understandable to energy consumers. Cutting edge Grid Mod Pod~guiding our future; a renaissance, when one era comletes and another begins.
12:38 - Challenge accepted Brett! SLC has permitted V2X solar + F150 lighting for full home back up micro-grid in Lincoln. Hope you're doing well brother.

The right time to improve and increase the power potential and reliability of the grid was ten years ago. It takes investment and government leadership, both have been lacking and the result is our century old US infrastructure is collapsing around us.
