Finally connected with a wolf!
I’ve been working on catching #wolves for some time now. Hard part is I’m not remote enough to get away from people and have to be mindful not to have conflict with the multitude of other user groups in the area. Among the challenge of catching a #wolf is not getting my gear or animals stolen. Thank you to all those who have subscribed and have been patiently waiting for me to finally #trap a wolf. It was a nice deep #catch in modified Bridger #5. It was a good weekend with the fresh #snow and we caught a #lynx and a #redfox.

We made this trip a #family affair. My wife and daughter spent a little time on the line with me. I’m always happy to have them along. We have been getting so much #snow, that it makes each check a lot of rework. Pulled a weasel and a lynx on this trip. John cut a wolverine track and we set on that. Also spent some time working on some wolf sets. @Gopro @Polaris #polaris, #hunting, #trapping, #...

Wanting to film my @RamTrucks 2023 Power Wagon crossing very slick overflow ice with a light dusting of fresh snow. Giving my 35x12.5 @mickeythompsontires Baja Boss AT tires a good test. They did absolutely fantastic! I’ve got 10,000 miles on rain, mud, snow and now ice. Best tire I’ve ever owned. #alaska #hunting #outdoors #snow #trapper #trapping #cabin #cold

Thanks for putting up with me as I’m learning to shoot and edit content. I really need to get myself a mic. We have been slow to get going. The weather has been not cooperating and it is just now safe enough to get across the river. In this episode, we get the start of a wolf bait pile going along with some trail cameras to hopefully capture anything that comes in. We also made a few wolverine ...

It’s been unseasonably warm, so we are getting a late start. I wanted to make sure that I was able to set on my most productive spot before someone else tries to set on my line. Very frustrating to watch you educate the animals and spread your scent everywhere. Just walk in a a sublegal grunting for no reason. Legal? Pursue. Sublegal? Move on or at least watch quietly. Geesh! 🤦‍♂️

      I use the Night Lapse and set the shutter to 30 seconds and no limit on duration. ISO 100-800. Put it on a tripod with zero light pollution. I plug it into an external battery bank of 7,500 Mah at a minimum. My smallest is 10,000. I wrap them in a coat or towels and then stuff it into a collapsible lunch cooler. The battery is the most important thing to keep warm. I’ve never really had a camera get too cold to function set up that way.

    That's not a lot of snow. Man I was going to rescue my sled today and the snow is waste deep out there. I like the flash back. Nice wolverine. Them milk crates you should tie them to the tree a foot or so up. That way they don't blow over.

    The sets with a crate must work good a lot of people us them, I trapped 20 + years & my best sets were using a few pieces of wood & branches to just make a little house by a big tree or in the middle of a big willow bush with a few spruce branches to shed the snow, Hoping to see some nice fur !

    • @myalaskalife907
      @myalaskalife907 11 місяців тому

      Thanks for the comment. Your method has been my typical set with a 330. My trapping partner has had success with the crates, so we’re using both. Pretty much only targeting wolf and wolverine this year as the lynx have crashed until the hares return.
