What is the distance from your tee to the screen? 😊
Could u share your screen dimension (not the enclosure dimension) and how far back is the tee from the screen? Thanks!!
Tennessee all the way!
Love it! Can't wait for the game! Thanks for watching
How do you find the picture detail and vivid color with the Benq tk710sti in ambient light?
I think it is very solid. Our garage has windows along the top of the door, we installed some tint film and that controlled the light enough to keep it very clean. All our videos are in natural light so it gives you an idea of the quality and brightness.
You sure that was the 71.5" on both those? Also when you said only Dewalt you made me shake my head
Yes on the 71.5- the turf cut turned out great. Dewalt for life 😂👊🏼 although we have a ton of red and green friends as well 😄
Favorite college team is UGA, proud alumni. Got to do UGA vs Bama September 28th
👀 👀 👀 Thanks for watching (and sending Dan Lanning up our way!) 👊🏼
@@WeShouldBeGolfing great coach was sad to lose him!
You guys have a great channel. Keep it up.
Thank you so much for watching! 👊🏼⛳️
Great content! Curious if that putting mat is holding up to where you stand when you swing your clubs. I have seen other reviews showing wear patterns where the golfer is standing. Looking forward to your short-term and long-term reviews of your set up. Thanks for all the info...you are helping a lot of people out!!!
We are definitely seeing some wear in our standing zone, but nothing insanely bad. Keep in mind, we are power users (Allen and I hit over 5k shots in July alone) so that won't happen as quickly for everyone else. We are planning on doing a 90 day review video, and part of that will be showing you guys the tweaks we make to our set up to address it!
Glad I found your channel!!!
We are too! Thanks for joining us! 👊🏼
The content has been great guys. Keep it coming. I have a question. In the last few months since owning the sim have you seen an improvement in handicap out on the course in real life?
Absolutely. My HC is jacked right now because of some high tournament scores earlier in the season, but I’ve shot my two best rounds at my home course after the first month of the simulator and reworking my swing. It definitely translates Thanks for watching 👊🏼
@@WeShouldBeGolfing If you had to put a number on handicap drop in a months time what would you say it has came down?
I was a 10, I’m now sitting at 9.2 playing more like a 7. I shot a 79 on my home course a few weeks ago that plays 73.1/144 which is a sub 6 differential. Those tournament scores from June are killing me
thank you!! Mine is close to being done. Waiting on a few more pieces to start swinging in the basement. We should try to catch up on GSPRO and play a round sometime.
Enjoying the content, keep them coming!
Thanks for watching! 👊🏼🤙🏼
Have y'all actually played Sand Valley? If not, well worth the trip!
It’s on our list… but only if we can come visit y’all while we are up there! 👀
@@WeShouldBeGolfing Heck ya! Welcome anytime!
Few questions. What control box is that? What overhead spot light did you utilize? Appreciate it
Hi! Here are the links: Spotlight: amzn.to/3Tf7Fw2 Control Box: www.bacustomproducts.com Thanks for watching!
How does that hitting strip feel after hitting on it for a while? Does it feel true? Looking for options.
Hitting strip is money. We absolutely love it. Zero complaints over here! I’ve hit a ton of balls and no wrist or elbow pain. Can tell when I catch one fat. Definitely the way to go. Thanks for watching! 👊🏼
@@WeShouldBeGolfing which strip did you use again? How thick is it?
Here is the one we bought- simturf.com/product/ez-tee-hybrid-hitting-mat/ Looks like it is about 1"1/8th thick, which was perfect for our build!
What screen size did you get and what’s the depth of the enclosure? I’m looking at 9x12x5 ft for my garage
We went 14~ wide, 9 high & 3 deep! With the screen being so wide, we didn’t feel the need to go 5 deep and we are glad we did so. Even the most shanked shots don’t hit the sides from where we stand, they still hit screen
@@WeShouldBeGolfing that’s awesome. Another question, if I just want to use GSpro with the Bushnell Launch Pro, do I still need to pay for the Bushnell subscription?
Yes, you have to have a subscription for the BLP to work with GSPRO unless you bought an unlocked version off the secondary market, which is harder to do.
Can I ask the total amount of EMT needed? Trying to determine if it is cheaper to buy local as I’m looking at roughly $45/10’.
Can I ask the total amount of EMT needed? Trying to determine if it is cheaper to buy local as I’m looking at roughly $45/10’.
I believe we needed roughly 10, 10’ pipes. Thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
Is that one map that entails all these holes or did u have to go out and load each map and pick the hole?
We loaded each one individually. One feature I would love GSPRO to integrate would be the ability to create composite courses composed of holes from different courses. I would imagine it would take massive amounts of computing resources to make that happen
Angel Park - Cloud Nine in Las Vegas. 12 hole par 3 and each hole is designed after a famous par 3.
Love it!!!
Your link for the MSI turf doesn't work, could you fix so we can see which one you went with?
Yes will update it- looks like Build.com discontinued the cut to length turf. Here is the link to Home Depot: www.homedepot.com/p/MSI-Putting-Green-15-ft-Wide-x-16-mm-Cut-to-Length-Green-Artificial-Grass-Carpet-LTRFRPUG15X100/321622687
Great content! Really appreciate the detail you showed on designing a sim. I have a 20ft deep space by 15 ft wide. How far is your hitting area (ball location) to the screen.
Thanks for watching! The ball is about 8ish feet away from the screen. It’s worked out well for us!
Looking to make my enclosure also 3 foot long what size were the EMT pipes for the depth?
44.5 inches (This is to account for the carls place frame, which has space between the back of the screen and back of the enclosure) If you aren't going with a Carl's kit, your measurements may be different. Thanks for watching!
@@WeShouldBeGolfinggoing with carls place thank you so much!
@@WeShouldBeGolfing so 44.5 inches is the depth of the entire enclosure? What did the EMT piping need to be cut at? I’ve actually been building my whole set up exactly like yours. I ordered a EZ Tee hybrid mat 2x4 literally building your exact enclosure from your videos, which have been very helpful. The one thing I did not count for was the depth. I have already ordered my enclosure, but I need to modify it to 3 foot deep. So just imagine your exact same set up except 5 foot deep instead of 3. Thats where I’m at
We connected on IG I think- let me know if you need more help!
@@WeShouldBeGolfing we did! Thank you again
6,5 hybrid. 7 wood 12 driver
Love it! Allen has since added a hybrid, it will make its debut in future videos. I actually want to pick up a 7 wood myself!
Dang he is money with that pitching wedge
Allen is really good from 130 in!
you guys are unreal hahahha thanks for all the videos helping with my screen. this was the best video yet hahaha
Glad we could help 😄
Awesome video Jake!
Thanks for making great products!
New subscriber and found this video very helpful!! Appreciate the detail on I-O swing path instruction (I’m generally 5-6%) and looking at purchasing the alignment discs to improve my swing.
We couldn’t encourage it enough. WhyGolf is running a 20% off sale right now which is the lowest price I’ve seen in a while (if ever) Link in the description to check it out, and thanks for subscribing to WSBG! ⛳️
Great video! I ended up purchasing after you recommended it on a previous videos comment. I finally got to use it and you’re right, it works! Thank you!
dies the wrinkles? creases go away on their own?
They did after we tightened the screen up in about a week. Carl's has instructions on their website for what to do if they don't, but in our case they did!
Thanks guys, excellent source of knowledge, I am searching and viewing ideas to build one in my basement, lots of information, and most likely I will do the same thing, I just watched first video of enclosure thing
Glad it was helpful! ⛳️
How far is the ball from the screen. I’m having insane amount of bounce back and also cant get the bottom of screen to be flush to the ground while keeping screen flat. Its either one or the other lol same set up here
We tightened our screen a bit tight in the beginning of its life to remove wrinkles that came from the shipping process, but have since loosened it to reduce bounce back. I would check your zip ties (especially along the top in regards to the issue you mentioned about it sitting flush) to make sure they are even. I would also check that the tension cord at the bottom of the screen (only way I can think to say it, hopefully you know what I’m talking about) isn’t over tightened causing the frame to bend.
Following up on this. What’s the ball to screen distance? Also have you found the baffle to be useful?
What's the sim controller you're using to adjust shot direction on the floor? I see it sitting on your desk and also see you guys using in your most recent videos.
Here is the link! Can’t recommend it enough! www.bacustomproducts.com
Thanks for sharing, where did you get the device next to the launch monitor to shift your on screen positioning?
We bought ours from here: www.bacustomproducts.com Thanks for watching! ⛳️
@@WeShouldBeGolfing thank you, I’ve enjoyed your videos. I’m building my own simulator in the next 6 months as well. Trying to do my due diligence lol.
Excited for you. Let us know if you have any questions moving forward. Happy to help you get set up right 👊🏼
Great video. It looks like your ambient light washes out the projector a little. Do you see that in real life or is it just because you're filming? I ask this because I'm interested in getting the exact same projector
I would say 80% film 20% wash out. It looks more washed on camera for sure, but it doesn’t take away from clarity or playability at all. It’s obviously optimal to have the room as dark as possible, but we want to have some light to be able to film so y’all can see us. We have a key light coming soon so we can light up whoever is swinging the club without hitting the screen- at that point we may do a total black out on the garage windows. Don’t hesitate on the projector though if it fits your space. It’s fantastic and we love it
I got you!! Thanks for featuring me lmao
Seriously so clutch!!!
I used a carpet knife and it worked great
Not a bad option at all! Thanks for watching ⛳️
Great video. I see you used used ez tee hybrid. What height were your tiles? And maybe you could share a link? Also I’m wondering if it might be better to use a double layer of tiles as hitting strip laying directly on concrete might be a little form. Outstanding job guys
Thanks for watching! Good call on adding the link- we shared it in our first video in the series where we laid the tiles, but have added to the description on this video as well! Here it is so you don't have to search: amzn.to/4eWveTr (affiliate) As far as a double layer of tiles, you can definitely get thicker than we did (.5") but the combo of the EZ tee being roughly 1.25" our tiles at .5 + the MSI turf at .75, it ended up working out perfectly. Down the road we will likely expand our smaller 2'X4' square into a 6'X4' square to help avoid wear marks from heavy usage where we stand. We haven't seen it yet, but it was part of the plan down the road!
Great video guys. About to move mine to the garage. So great timing. Link the tool chest! Haha!
Thank you so much for watching!! It’s been great in the garage so far, love being able to open the garage door to get some air flow! Let us know how the move goes for you. Here is a link to the smaller chest: www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-Tool-Storage-46-in-W-Gloss-Black-Mobile-Workbench-Cabinet-H46X18MWC9BLK/322631796 I can’t find the stainless top chest that we got, as I believe it was a close out floor model. But this one is *close*! www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-84-in-W-24-in-D-9-Drawer-Heavy-Duty-Mobile-Workbench-with-SS-Top-Matte-Black-HOTC8409BB1M/329899708
It’s actually really scary hitting in a simulator!! I have real trouble with it!! My mind just can’t seem to get it right, I went for a driver fitting a month or so ago and could just not get it together my mind was in a full freeze!
It’s taken me (Jake) a bunch of swings to finally feel comfortable with the driver in the sim. Just gotta press through and now I’m comfortable. I feel your pain tho!!!
Great content… I watched all your build videos too… I’m in the planning process for my sim room and your videos with Allen really helped… I’m getting pretty much the same set up as you, so it was perfect. Best of luck growing the channel… great editing and banter. Nice golf game too.
We are glad we could help in any way! If you have questions about your set up or just want another set of eyes to bounce off your space, DM me on IG @jakesgotkeys or @wsbgolf and I would be more than happy to help that way as well. Thank you so much for watching! We are having fun and sounds like you are too!
What turf did you use for the hitting strip?
Ez Tee Hybrid! simturf.com/product/ez-tee-hybrid-hitting-mat/
@@WeShouldBeGolfing What size is yours? These videos are awesome.
@@Rydogg20 The hitting mat is 2X4! Glad you are enjoying the content 👊🏻👊🏻
Whats your distance from screen to the ball and screen to projector! I literally just bought same screen and projector and wanna make sure it will all work! Haha my screen is a carls 10.5x8 and my projector is the tk as well
Screen to ball is roughly 8-10 feet & projector to screen is 10 feet and some change. Congratulations on your new build! Take photos and tag us on instagram @wsbgolf when it’s done we would love to see it! Thanks for watching ⛳️
@@WeShouldBeGolfing good to know man!! Just gave u a follow appreciate the content. Could you do a review on projector and the settings for best color?
We have one planned in a few weeks! Stay tuned 🤙🏼
How do you like using the control box? Think about getting one.
It’s a game changer. So nice to not have to walk to the computer to change aim. We find it especially helpful when we have people over so they aren’t messing with any computer stuff, just aiming left and right. I use the heat map button on approach shots all the time as well! Thanks for watching!
Don’t own a sim but most people aim on putting in the game and try to putt straight in their room
I will definitely try that in the next video 💯 thanks for watching!!
@@WeShouldBeGolfing yes sir, love y’all setup man
How wide and tall is y'all's screen? I'm looking at the same projector as you have but, Carl's is telling me to go with Benq 700 instead of the Benq 710. They told me I need to be 14 ft back where you are 10 ft or so.
Ours is 161.4 wide! I would ask just to clarify with you, that you are looking at the STI models. The 700/710 non STI will have longer throws since they aren’t short throw. The 710sti is even shorter than the 700sti, which is why it ended up perfect for us. I will defer to the folks at Carls, as they are experts. But the 710sti is so new that they may not know about it yet!
@@WeShouldBeGolfing I was talking about the TK710sti projector. I thought from your video you were able to mount overhead at 10 ft. Carl's is telling me to mount it at 14 ft. I really don't have that much room since I have to mount mine on the encloser.
@@KavinTinney We worked off the calculator on Projector central. Here is the link to the throw calculator for the 710STI (www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ-TK710STi-projection-calculator-pro.htm) How wide is your screen? DM me on Instagram if you are on there @wsbgolf and I might be able to help you better!
You have a great swing! What drills / thoughts did you use to change your swing path?
Thank you! I’ll have a video coming out soon about this, but it started with a better takeaway and a checkup with my grip. I also used the whygolf alignment disks/rods to grove my swing (link here: whygolf.com/products/alignment-disc?sca_ref=6543306.OIqcBNYRoH&sca_source=YTC&)
@@WeShouldBeGolfing thank you and I looked forward to the video! I have seen some ads for the disc and rod, might have to pull the trigger and get it!
@@JacobsGolfFieldusing our link helps the channel! Let me know if you get it and if it helps!
did you look at any other enclosures to compare with Carls? I've been researching between Carl's, IndoorGolf and PlayBetter and ready to pull the trigger
We looked at each of those products, and for our purpose the custom Carl's enclosure was a perfect fit. So far we are pumped about the quality & how easy it was to build. Customizing it to our space was easy with their online tool (Link here: alnk.to/b7yegH6) One recommendation I have is to buy the premium screen. The difference in quality is night and day and I've heard the durability is top notch when compared to other screens over time
what size is the Carl's enclosure?
Our enclosure is 161.4" wide, 105.7" tall & 44.5" deep. For all the details on our enclosure, check out our build video (if you haven't already!) ua-cam.com/video/xhiJRTUaGzc/v-deo.html
