@replacementwindowsreviews I did forget to mention the tax in my county was 2,950.00, so part of that is tax. I received a cheaper quote for 9 windows from Harley Exteriors. They make their windows but use a 3rd party installer. Anderson uses Anderson installers. As time goes on, things will only get more expensive.

Everything from Marvin is pretty darn good in my opinion. Yes, the Endure comes with a block and tackle balance system. To be honest, both the block and tackle and constant force are good systems - some installers prefer one over the other, but I think it all comes down to the quality of the manufacturer. It's going to depend on how good the installers are - I would suggest getting a bunch of free bids and asking each company that comes out the same questions until you have a clear understanding of what they can pull off. Retrofit installation is always going to lose some glass area, but it's much less expensive than a full frame install. The newer insulated glass units are great for energy efficiency and most come with a low-e glass (the film more or less). Nearly all vinyl windows come with a lifetime warranty on the mainframe and sash. Renewal offers a 20 year warranty, which I find telling - I list the warranty details here - www.replacementwindowsreviews.co/company/renewal-by-andersen-reviews.html) - a quality vinyl window that fails after 6 years would absolutely be covered by the warranty - assuming that you purchased from a credible dealer. If the dealer balks at covering your warranty claim after 6 years, you should lambast them using google local reviews. That is ridiculous. What brand and series did you purchase?

I get these questions occasionally and I have to apologize - I don't know the Canadian brands well. Inline is Canadian and they make an excellent fiberglass window. Wow. I am sorry that happened to you. I will never understand why a company would do shoddy work in the age of the internet - hopefully others will see your comment and think twice about using Window World of Space Coast.

Wow, that is about as high a bid as I've ever heard of for a single window!

I do think that performance data in the lab is a good indication of the overall quality of a window. The Okna 800 has an air infiltration rate of .01 - the Andersen 400 double hung is like .17. Miles apart (although the Andersen 400 is a gorgeous unit.) I find the data telling. As well, the Andersen 400 series warranty is 25 years (I believe), while most vinyl windows warranty is lifetime for the original owner. While I put little stock in warranties, I find them a good indicator of how long a manufacturer assumes their product will last.

@@replacementwindowsreviews a true fellow window nerd 🤓. You are one of the few that actually knows what you’re talking about. If I was to go with Andersen, I would only go with Fibrex by Renewal as it is where Andersen refocused their money and energy and complete business model. Warranties are a great indicator of the quality of product and service one would receive from a purchase. With that being said, in every warranty except for the Andersen warranties, they DO NOT guarantee the amount of percentage of gas that’s actually in a glass pack after it leaves the manufacturer. (That’s why plastic windows have glazing beads) This is because of the faulty/cheap capillary (injection) method. Andersen warranty covers dissipation and I haven’t seen that in any other warranty. In my particular state, there’s no such thing as a “lifetime warranty”. Whose lifetime is it? J/k but in my state, that means 6 years from a manufacturer if they honor it and don’t blame the subcontractor who installed it. There even buzz in the market the RBA is going to extend their 20 year warranty to 30 years. Now that we know there’s no such thing as “lifetime warranty”, which framing material or company would you choose if all were completely free?

In home salesman make $0 for the quote or estimate and good ones work their asses off to give you all info for free. If their car needs fixing they spend it right away and when it’s really bad they will buy a brand new one immediately. But sell a window or door or HVAC PRODUCT for more money than the cheap local guy with no overhead no expenses no real warranty of way to service you correctly and its ridiculous. People get upset when we price and they realized that cant afford it or have to settle for less, or god forbid put it on a budget plan like they do with every other thing they buy like their IPHONES, Mortgages ETC.. We ask this at every appointment in the beginning, IF YOU THINK WE ARE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY SAY YES IF NOT NO IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE. DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ALL SAY ???? NEVER YES OR NO its I need to sleep on it, I need to talk to my brother who purchased his windows 20 years ago so he knows about them. Homeowners give the same excuses every time we have to navigate through the BS to find out what is holding them back and once we do they usually will purchase IF done correctly. HOMEOWNERS are dishonest as well and as a good Salesman you have to show them that you are just like them a hard working person there to help them make a good decisions that adds value to their home and project. It’s not a tactic it’s a discount for a good customer who wishes to purchase while we are there today, they get a great price and we get business that keeps us profitable. You can get an idea of any price online today a salesman gives you the exact cost when you allow him to do his job correctly and rewards a family for making a good decision with a discount.

Many companies will have a minimum number of windows, but often it is like 4. And this makes sense because they have to drive the crew out, set up, clean up, etc. It's kind of an economy of scale deal for many companies. The good thing is you can call up most window companies and just ask what their minimum is - they should be happy to let you know!

Considering how bad your energy situation is, the cost of the windows would probably be cut in Half just by reducing your power bill. On top of the added value to your home, you should definitely replace them. Whether you want to do Andersen or not is up to you, but the Fibrex material is definitely of a higher quality than anything else I've gotten from any other company. Had vinyl before, warped a lot because of the sun, fogged up in the winter. New Andersen windows much better. Got 7 windows and a door for 28,000$. After discount it was 22000$. Pay 200~ a month.

Both excellent units! I'm not sure who I would give the nod to, to be honest. My advice would be to pivot from the window (both awesome) to the company doing the install. This is going to be the much bigger factor at this point. Who gets the better online reviews etc. And then of course cost should/will factor in...it always does, right!

I absolutely agree with you on this point - but that should be the job of the window company when they come out to give you a bid - to give a credible and thorough assessment of the current state of your windows. I don't know what kind they use but this place I found in Mt Airy North Carolina where I bought all my windows for my new place their windows are tempered glass how I found that out is because they had one down there broken one pane was we tried to break the rest of the broken one out and it wouldn't break no matter what we tried they had given us the window that was broken because he said he couldn't send it back and we had bought 16 windows off of him we're still trying to get the broken piece out so we can cut out a place in the building we just built and put it in there

I do get consumer price quotes on a daily basis from around the country and yes many are much higher, but those are typically the ones I tell my customers to ditch and move on...

There are a lot of junky vinyl windows out there. In terms of frame longevity, I will take an Okna 800 DX over an RBA any day of the week even at the same price (vinyl over the composite) - there is a reason why high quality vinyl window manufacturers' warranties cover more for longer than RBA...

Plastic manufacturing and cheap glass packs are very inexpensive to produce and typically only a handful of large company's afford heavy marketing that causes prices for their windows to go up.... Rba nationally spends the most money on advertising than any other remodeling product out there. That's where the costs really go. Their window is definitely a little better than vinyl. Fiberglass is still above both though. Also rba gives you one of the best glass packs available from Cardinal while most vinyl window co pants give you waylower quality glass. You should learn some business and manufacturing if the trade before you start spewing off inaccurate statements. I would never purchase rba but gotta feed facts.
