Thanks for sharing your perspective! For me, even going out with friends often led to uncontrolled drinking-it was just part of the dynamic in my social group. Over time, I realized those habits weren’t healthy, and the environment wasn’t serving me. Choosing sobriety has been about taking control of my life and finding better ways to connect and have fun without relying on alcohol.

@ I know exactly how that feels-what started as a social thing with friends turned into something way bigger for me too. It’s such an easy cycle to fall into, but it’s not impossible to break out of it. Things can change when you’re ready, and it’s always worth it.

That was the first thing for me too. I had to occupy my time in the beginning and force myself to do things that weren’t alcohol related. It took a couple months to get my groove back and remember who I was and what I liked to do sans alcohol.

@@Sobervation 1000000%. And muffles my intuitive gifts, kills my creative ideas, disrupts my sleep....makes me a lazy gatekeeper of my life. Ug.
