My wife has an 07. The tonneau cover cylinder was leaking. Had to remove it and get it rebuilt. Now the hinges are leaking pretty bad. They are gunna be a beast to get out. Cannot find these parts new anymore so rebuilds is the “cheapest” I’ve found. Such a pain

I had some problems with my 2008 top. The top opens perfectly fine but when I go to close it. I get no beeping and no action. This happened after I had the top mid opening and stopped to fill the hydraulic fluid. After that; the top won’t close.
Hey man, I have a problem with the two little side panels that are supposed to fold down when closing the top. The driver side panel won’t fold enough too close the top properly. The one on the passenger side works fine but the driver side panel i have to push it in as i hold the close top button. Do you know what could be causing this?? Thank you!

My top is up and locked in. Now I want to open it so I a have way to get access to the hydraulic lines so I do that. I’ve put the tool in and moved it to the left, nothing,moved it to the right nothing. The videos showing the inside already have it open.

is there any way to drop an 08 spyder's top manually? i saw somewhere on the web if i turn that tbar counter wise it depressurizes the hydraulics so you can lift up that one big piece and then push the top into it and then close it

Thank you for giving me a starting point! There's another video out there about this Allen wrench, but not nearly as thorough as @SIRj I've also read that disconnecting battery for 30 mins to reset system is good try for when roof would not open after I tried opening still latched and that did work.

Hey, the top of my eclipse wont go down, when i push the button, it beeps 3 times, and every time i drive it, there is a long beep, as if there was somwthing wrong in the roof. it was working fine 3 days ago, i hadnt shut it manually, but i believe the problem started after i changed the cars battery. So i opened the subwoofer whole in the back seats, opened the "t handle" and with the "L tool" i pushed the "lever" all the way to the left, and then closed the "t handle" really tight again. After all that i tried to open it, but the same problem persists. Ive spent countless hours on this and cant find a solution. Do you have any idea on what could be the issue? if you want i can even make a video of it and send it to you.

@@SkrzatosMG Yes the problem with my roof was that the back rear glass was falling. After I glued it back, the roof simply went back working. I guess the sensors would not let it open because the glass was not properly fixed. Hope it helps!
My roof won’t go down and I think it’s bc the convertible motor is empty,, what fluid does it take?
Hi I have a 2007 mitsubishi ecbishop a clip spider GT the toppers down no sound when I push the button I have fluid behind the passenger side with a real wheel will how do I replace the hydraulic line
First you will want to close the hydraulic reservoir you should be able to just twist it close so none of your hydraulic will leak out then you remove the line you’re replacing from the hydraulic reservoir and follow it up to where it ties into the system. The easiest thing to do would be to tape your new line onto your old line before you pull it up through any holes or slots in the car. This will make it easier to replace and follow the same route that they did the first time.
Just got an 07 (my second one) and it was giving the 3 beep error. Was pretty sure it was the fluid in the convertible motor (same exact problem as in video). Got 1k knocked off the price for it, and going by to pick up some fluid in the morning. Did NOT know about the manual bonnet lock though, so thanks a million for that. Just that one bit probably saved me a few hours of inventing new curse words..

I would like to ask you a question I have a 2008 mitsubishi spider. My top will be closed and as soon as I start driving driving it starts beeping like the top is not locked and secured. As soon as I start driving it does not beep until I stop and then go again has that ever happened to you? Can't figure the problem out
You need to just tweak the system a little bit. Sounds like it is right on the breaking point of thinking it is not fully closed. Use the Tbar and move the position to the center. Shouldnt take much
the area behind the speak on mine has these foams pieces latched to it,, is it safe to take it off and leave it off?

I have a question. The top completely open perfectly with the back panel raising up and down successfully, but when it times to close, the panel goes up to let out the cloth top, but it don't close back down. Staying stuck in the air. I can hear the pump when I hold the close button but it won't finish the closing process. I noticed the hydraulic fluid is empty too. Maybe I should top it off. What fluid can I use? Also how do I go about filling it up, I noticed a good screw above the reservoir, should I fill up from there? Thank you. I'm trying to avoid going to dealership.

Hey man, informative video. I have a similar issue on my exact same car, 2008 Eclipse Spyder GS. When I close the top, the car will beep every time I hit the gas, saying it isn’t actually closed, even though it is. Essentially, would using this t bar method help resolve this issue? Fernando Ramos so even if it’s just a little bit off it will beep at you. I would close it and then remove the back seat and look at the “half moon” area. I bet it is almost closed but not enough to satisfy the system. Make sure to open the t handle a little bit before you attempt to move the bolt all the way to the end that it is closest to. It will most likely be a super small adjustment. Don’t forget to tighten the t handle back up so you don’t leak fluid all over when you use your top. Beat of luck!

Tien Trinh I would use an open end wrench or something similar to give you just a little leverage. By loosening it it will allow you to move the hydraulic system slowly

Mario Cantu so the actually call the tool the “Emergency Tool” Tomorrow when I get back to my computer I will see if I can find the part number and where you can buy one.
Mario Cantu so i cant find a part number but I know it’s an Allen wrench style head. You should be able to use just a normal one but they call it an Emergency tool is f that helps.

SIRj no, there’s no sound of motors working
That leads me to believe you have an electrical issue. I would start simple and check your fuses. Then move to your switch and see if one side is getting power. If you have power at the switch then I would check to motor located behind the back seat last. I’m guessing you have a loose wire between the fuse and the switch
My 2008 Spyder's top is closed and will not open - but the sensor beeps (screams) for 5 seconds when the car is moved. stops after 5 seconds until you stop and start up and then it repeats. my mechanic says he unhooked the chime but to fix it I need a 5th bow sensor and he can't resource one off the internet on any site. Any thoughts on where I can find said sensor and can I fix it myself
First thing I’d try is to take the back seat out so you can make sure the half moon goes fully from one spot to the other. Sounds to me that it is not quite making it all the way to the one seat. Start your car and using the T tool make sure that your top has traveled completely to one seat if that makes sense

My car’s roof stopped working and the sides inside is all filled with oily fluid
So that happened to me also. I would guess The fluid came from a cracked line or broken hydraulic line. You will have to find which one it is and order a new one to replace it. Once it's replaced make sure you bleed your system and top off your fluid. To find the leak you might need to top off your fluid and have someone open the top while you watch where it's coming from.
For both of you...probably your car blew top cylinders...it happens due to old or not use enough....their 8 of them in the back , plus two big hinges in each corner....when the seals become defective you have to replaced but if you replace only the defective one , once you install back the one that you repaired, it will blow the old ones due to hydraulic pressure built inside the lines by the new repaired cylinder....it was a nightmare, it cost me 200.00 per cylinder to repack ....plus I have to find a car in a junk yard to replace the old big hinges at they cost me about 145.00- 200.00 each.....I decided to install the a new top that cost near 500.00 ....sad part for me I spent close to 3k in repairs and the car is not worth $1,500. The car is in great conditions but no manuals or instructions to deal with this issue....if you take it to the dealer not to many technicians will work with this problem...its a complete nightmare

I would put ut all the way down and see where the half moon piece is when it is closed. Im guessing its not all the way opened when the top is all the way down. If thats the case.... open it all the way and move the half moon piece to the full open position. This way it will travel all the way and xlose completely

Well done!:) I found I had troubles with my top fully closing when it was very cold out, below 39° or so. When the day warmed up it worked without a trouble.
When my roof is closed it still beeps like it's open

Lilian Garcia so you don’t have to remove the beeping alarm. The system is just a little out of sync with its self. If you watch my video and the part where I use the “emergency tool” (L bar or T bar tool) I would bet that yours is in the middle sequence. If you get access to the fluid container on the convertible system and loosen the t handle (which will allow you to move the hydraulic 1/2 moon slide with the emergency tool) you should be able to slowly move the slide system back to its normal position (which is far left). Hopefully this makes sense if not let me know and I’ll find timelines in my video to refer to.

Will this work if the top is stuck in the halfway open position? I managed to get the top to latch but it beeps while driving BC it still thinks its open...
I would loosen the T handle on the resivour and then use the tool I showed you to gently move it to the correct place. Make sure you tighten the T handle back up after you get it moved.

Hey Mr.Kyle my problem is when I was opening(bring down the top) the top to clean the back, it stops working like the section where it goes in is in the air, and the window(in the back) is in the air. I don't know what to do so I was seeing if it would move little and it did but for putting it back on. But it hasn't close completely
If you can find the reservoir where the fluid is kept there is a T handle that you can bleed off the pressure which would allow your top to continue down. Sounds like you have some air trapped in your lines.

Thanks buddy, I found my hydraulic fluid is way below the minimum and two lines are leaking it was working fine and for no reason tonneau cylinder and around left 5th bow cylinder its wet down the area....don’t know if it was because the low fluid, old o rings or bad cylinders. Anyway thanks.

Reservaciones (Mexicor) so if you are not hearing anything I would check your fuses first. If those are good check to make sure your resivor has fluid in it. There is also a T bar valve on the resivor. That sometimes loosens up and makes it not work correctly. Make sure that is tightly closed . If none of those try to send me a video of what's going on
Reservaciones (Mexicor) I wouldn't recommend opening it manually. I know if you try you must have that valve on the resivor loose so it can relieve pressure. But again I would recommend doing it
Turn the hydraulic cylinder valve counter clockwise. This releases the pressure. Also my top seems to have troubles when it's very cold. Not wanting to close up fully. Make sure you reset the hydraulic is the gentleman in this video says to.
Also if you open the car manually, that messed up the sensors in the computer...because the computer thinks that is closed when in reality is fully open....it has 8 different sensors to open the top...because open one section , then open the top, then hide the top, then close the top.....i still have the car but ....top convertible life is around 8 yrs. Mitsubishi discontinued all hydraulic fluids and top parts for these Spyder 2007-2012.
