Radish and Carrot Planting
Переглядів 7 тис.10 років тому
Why plant carrots alongside radishes? Because it typically takes a long time for carrots to germinate. I, as a gardener often lose sight of the rows, especially if they are long rows. By putting in a couple of radish seeds, which germinate in 3 or 4 days, I have an indicator of where the row is at. This technique is also useful in spinach and beets. Carrots are even longer to germinate if plant...

Well that was anti-climactic! I was expecting to watch you harvest all your potatoes and it abruptly ended with a, "Thanks for watching!" Huh? Remember that boxing match that Mike Tyson had? Everyone was all settled in, expecting a hell of a match, then what happened? He knocked that guy out and it was all over befors it even began! That's how this potato "reveal" felt for me.

I planted kennebecs in ten gallon grow bags. I started the seed potatoes in the basement back in early May before moving the grow bags outside. Right now the potato plants are about 30 inches tall and starting to flower. I won't harvest until late September. I've noticed that the moisture level in the grow bags require constant monitoring to make sure the soil remains evenly moist. Each bag can easily consume a gallon or more of water on a sunny day. Next year I will try placing the grow bags in six inches of soil to allow the roots to seek out more moisture and setup an irrigation system.

right after ST patricks till end of Aug is like 160 Days Holy Crud!!! that's like Way Longer than I would think...... All info Says Kenibecks take 110day to harvest what gives here??

They will be small at 110. If you want larger potatoes you need to allow them to grow and tell you when THEY say they're done...upper green plant will wither, turn brown and die. In other areas that may happen in 130 days but 150-160 is typical.

the tub was a simple part of that potato harvest, what soil did you use? what additives? how did you water this cloth bag? how many years can you use this? how often did you have to water? showing us the harvest just shows us how much additives you put in, how to USE your grow bag is what is important. I see a lot of this grow bags get green mossy looking stuff on them and white mineral build up around them, how did you prevent that? you said you 'might' reuse the soil??? that's a lot of expensive soil to consider not using again, hopefully you do or at least throw it in the compost pile like you said you might do
