Amanikpo is the most powerful and dreaded cultural group in Ogoni. Membership is either core or regular. regular members only enjoy freedom of passage where the group is playing. A privilege not open to the public. Amanikpo and its members operate in absolute secrecy and under the cover of darkness as they are not meant to be seen while performing by anyone other than members. They can be watched however, only when on stage where their msaquerades are displayed for public entertainment, as seen in this video.

You’re an outsider, an outsider shouldn’t know
@@quinbelbon378 Too bad the continent has already been recolonized by outsiders (Chinese & Europeans) that have been initiated into these systems. The outsiders are already inside lol
@@quinbelbon378, wow, I love that response
the difference between igbo and ogoni dance is, ogonis can spectacularly swing their back cum waist in a longer thread whereas igbos don't but can learn. opobos of ijaw stock are the other group that does the back swing like ogonis, yet most ijaws/opobos don't know and do this dance on a near-natural basis as Ogonis, the women/young girls in particular do. ogoni is also the one group which originally had and still has the masquerade dance which somersault, call it acrobatic flips with mask on their face. Amanikpo and geregere are some of the cultural dance unique to ogoni. overall, ogonis have marked distinctions which include language from igbos and other nigerians. Thanks.
Is there any relation between both the igbo and ogoni people, Can someone tell me their diffrence, cos i come across this dance i thought they were igbos before i realised they were the ogoni people
i haven't listened to this song in a long time

The chorus basically saying, God please, God please add day to my day
God have mercy on me, the world is not good anymore. God have mercy on me, the world is filled with death. Every day someone's name is no longer here, dear Lord have mercy on me (2x) Chorus God please, God please, add days to my days. (2x) God please have mercy on me, the world is difficult. God please have mercy on me, the world is difficult. Because death is much, 'cause death is much in this world. Because death is much, 'cause death is much in this world. Chorus God please, God please, add days to my days. (2x) If you wake up in the early morning, you'll see someone that's walking. In the evening you'll hear that they're dead. (3x) What kind of bad world is this? Human life is like a ripened cherry. Human life is like a ripened mango. Any time, any time, it can fall. Any day, any day, it can fall. Chorus God please, God please, add days to my days. (2x) If you get to the hospital you will see things that'll dumbfound you. If you get to the hospital you will see things that'll surprise you. Every other day someone is getting sick and every day someone's dying. (2x) If you get to the mortuary you will see things that'll dumbfound you. If you get to the mortuary you will see things that'll surprise you. They're lying down like firewood, and every day some is dying too. People are plenty like white sand, and every day some is dying too. God hide my life from him (the devil) Chorus God please, God please, add days to my days. (2x) Death has been looking for someone child but had it not been, had it not been... Death has been looking for someone child but had it not been, had it not been... God hid, God hid, God hid my life from him. Chorus God please, God please, add days to my days. (2x)
