The Volvo gearbox looks quite similar to the Jaguar E-type and XJ gear boxes. Are they related ? If so, I used an XJ w unrated O/D in my V12 E-type (270 ish hp) without any issues and could imagine using the jag o/d box in my P1800ES project with a tuned B20.

I had thought the upper wishbone was to adjust the camber only, with both front and rear bolts always having identical shims on them to avoid breaking bolts. Aren't there shims on the crossmember with which one can alter the caster safely?

My Amazon has an overdive, installed by a previous owner but I wasn't aware about the fragility of the unit in the higher torque gears (or worse, in reverse). So, thank you for alerting us! Not at home at the moment (sailing again) but I thought that my overdrive inhibitor allowed selection in 3rd and 4th, but not the lower gears. Does that make sence to you?

Hello, greetings from Poland. I started restoring my P1800e and I have an idea to change the fuel injection to be powered by two Weber 45 carburetors set. My mechanic friend advises against it and says that at idle the engine will sound like a tractor but from 2000 Rpm it will be rocket, and basicly that those Webers are a bit to big. What I want with carbs is that beuatyfull sound and historic feel, some decent power around 120 BHP. I am asking for Your advice on this topic, schould I try with these carburetors or maybe use smaller Weber 40, maybe a different brand or stick to injection. Afert seeing Your videos I know that You have massive knowledge about those engines, please give me some thoughts about it. Thanks for any advice. Best regards, Michal

I have a theory about the braided teflon lines if you were to use something like or similar to a crimp sleeve on the outside of the braid would that be sufficient for use in rallying? Or am i just thinking nonsense?

I had the same clicking. I took apart the diff carrier assembly and noticed that the thrust washers for the side gears (axle gears) were warped. I replaced those thrust washers and the ones for the smaller planetary gears, along with the larger pivot pin. I spider gears are still a little loose from wear, but now move smoothly without clicking. Those parts are basically the only ones you can get anymore. 😔

I have a F Head and a E head and am trying to decide whether to use the E in its original configuration or shave the F to E specs and higher compression (FI holes plugged for a carbureted motor). Im wondering if its a problem or a feature that in my 142 with a b20 and m40 i cannot no matter how hard it try to engage the first gear while the car is moving which causes problems in traffic when im moving too slowly for 2nd gear but cannot engage first gear. Im thinking of installing lighter flywheel but dont know if the car will stall every time in traffic if i install that

Hi, Is there a way to upgrade an 1971 144 model, M40 Gearbox, with a three passengers front seat setup? I suspect That the T9 shifter is way backwards. Maybe there is an interchangeable shifter plate similar to the 'short' vs. 'long' M41? Thanks!
