How would you fix this leak?

The contractor that installed this trophy drain in the standup shower, cut the ends off to modify the length. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to get a good seal on the ends and water is leaking down past the waterproofing and into the ceiling below. What would you do to fix it? Caulking only held about nine months or less. I was thinking of using a fiberglass resin to plug the holes. What woul...
Electrical mistake or is it correct? - CAFCI breaker with GFCI receptacle

Are the gfci receptacles tripping due to the current draw of the cafci breakers? So the electrical system in this house was recently upgraded by a licensed electrician. They upgraded the electrical panel with CAFCI breakers, but also added GFCI receptacles in the kitchen above the counters and below the counters, pretty much everywhere including bathrooms. @@tedd7028 if I created a vlog with supers stories and be sincere on the content , I'd loose my job in a week. Some landlords will do anything to defend their "new money" tech tenants who pay 4000$ for a one bedroom apartment. So it's some landlords also who are idiots. Here is one Residents understood that I can let them back in if they are locked out of their apartment so I kept getting calls no matter what time of the day, at least 5-7 calls a week. After two years of asking for it, landlord finally approved and I started imposing a fee for that service which was 80% lower than what a locksmith would charge. In a matter of days no one forgot or "lost" their keys anymore.

    Just like anything else they need to be installed correctly, a crooked pipe a dirty pipe not deburring the pipe and they will fail but then again I have seen solder joints fail from poor installation. A Sharkbite will last 25 years If properly instal.led , and yes they have been tested.

    I've seen sweat joints in copper pipes that are 100 years old and still perfectly good. I don't know how long sharkbites will last so i never use them. I have perhaps 40 years left on this earth. I will not leave my wife with the possibility of a bunch of failures.

    • @shawandrew
      @shawandrew 2 місяці тому

      This video is the equivalent of pulling a joint that wasn't soldered properly and blaming it on the type of joint. I'm betting this was not installed by a professional and it wasn't done properly. That said, shark-bites will last until the O-rings inside dry up and break down, so I wouldn't feel comfortable installing them under a wall as opposed to under a sink.

  • @garyr7027

    How long do they last?... you never said. Are sharkbites supposed to be used on copper lines? Look at that corrosion on the line, how's that supposed to seal?... it can't. I'm pretty sure sharkbites are designed for PVC lines and not copper. Personally I wouldn't use sharkbites on any line, those seals inside are gonna dry rot sooner than you'd expect. Rubber seals also shrink not just dry rot. A quick fix is never the real solution.

    First off, siemens arc faults are known to be extremely sensitive. Companies like siemens, eaton, square d call AFCI breakers "combination". I don't know why. this just confuses people. What you have here is the same effectively as a DUAL FUNCTION breaker, having arc fault protection in the panel, and ground fault protection at the outlet. This is legal! It should not cause any tripping. Like i said, these breakers are JUNK and should be swapped for an EATON CL arc fault. Guaranteed you won't have an issue, and they are rated for siemens panels. Ask me how i know, this exact service call probably made me 20k last year with the amount of times i have swapped these breakers. EDIT: ANOTHER option you have is install an eaton dual function (afci and gfci) breaker and install a regular outlet instead of your current GFCI outlet.

  • @kirkrideout7994

    Understand exactly which type of "combination" you have. Some are labeled that way and the "combination" is parallel arc fault + series arc fault. Don't quote me but I believe Eaton breakers have a green stripe on the breaker label along with the blue, green referring to GFCI. Not sure about Siemens.

    Ok I'd never use sharkbite or the propress etc unless unavoidable. With that said, none of what's demonstrated is a complete failure. Sharkbite joints allow considerable motion - and the green deposit may have been a tiny seepage thst'd self-sealed. Again, I think they're all garbage and installing hundreds of them behind expensively finished walls is asking for trouble in my book, but the vid isn't objective.
