This is the 31LE by Quadra-Fire. Conducting a burn time test using slightly less seasoned fuel proves you can exceed the burn time stated in our literature with a factory standard unit. This fireplace has 5 metres of straight overall flue length. The negative effect of using less seasoned fuel is a potential for creosote build up which can be seen by the staining/discolouration of the glass and...

They have a double pipe which allows it to be closer. The major issue is it's a place you have customers coming in and nothing around the stove to keep people from touching it. They won't get insurance leaving it like that. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

This fire pit is one of a few covered pits that is on the list ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM of approved products for Disney Fort Wilderness. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.

I bought a new defiant a couple months ago. If I put more than 2 pieces of firewood in it, it will run away. It has been over 825° with the air supply damper completely shut. There is no way that I could get over 3 or 4 hour burn times. It seems to constantly be feeding too much air. The ash door is latched. The supply damper closed. I can slow it down some by closing the door to engage the catalyst but then it gets even hotter. I would love to talke with someone from Vermont castings. The dealer seems clueless now and it's impossible to talk with the manufacturer. So much for buying American. Oh ya, the blower quit too! What a waste of $5k! If vermont castings is out there, please reach out to me!

Watched another similar UA-cam video where they used some unseasoned wood that was being sold as seasoned wood. Left a stain n discoloration on glass that couldn’t be cleaned off as apposed to the seasoned wood where it wiped off easily! Maybe their woods moisture percentages were higher. Did you experience the same situation where discoloration couldn’t be easily cleaned off? FYI they ended up getting a replacement for the glass, after that winter season bc they enjoy seeing the flames, even though their stove is in the basement.

@@brad4527 I've got a VC defiant encore from the early 90's. its the big one. I highly recommend it. I have a single level 1500 square foot house that is really well insulated. Once the fire has been burning for a few hours the whole house gets warm- My house also has a forced air furnace. If I've been away and the house is really cold I turn the furnace on for ten minutes +- while I build a fire. the furnace gets the whole house warmer- then furnace off for as long as the fire is lit. Days go by with no furnace..... If you are in the market for a wood stove get the biggest one you can find. you will never be sorry about that. Pro Tip: the ash pan door on Vermonts, when cracked open during initial start up is like a Turbobellows under the fire box, I have almost never needed more than one match and little kindling. What stove you buy, make sure it has an ash pan door.

Take a hair dryer or a matt gas torch and let it run up the chimney for 10 or 15 minutes, also open a window near the stove before lighting to help establish the draft as well.
