My favorite sopranos for Mozart during the mid 20th Century remain Della Casa, Seefried, & Janowitz. There are other fine ones as well like Elizabeth Grummer & Sena Jurinac that I need to listen to more & what a line-up compared with what one often hears these days. Later in the century Margaret Price & Julia Varady excelled also in some Verdi roles besides Mozart & one should not forget Renee Fleming who now in her 60s seems still in pretty fine shape although I have not heard her recently.

I've been an admirer of Gnoli's work for some years and somehow I feel he would have loved its form, the music, the references, - even the absence of spoken dialogue seems so appropriate. In addition, the postscript of Yannik Vu and Ben Jakober's creation of their foundation. Gnoli is finally being recognised as a really major artist and influence for many younger painters today.

I saw Mr. Siepi as both Don Giovanni and Figaro. He was magnificent, a beautiful, very powerful voice and magnetic stage presence. It has been decades and I still remember those performances like they were yesterday.
