we headed to a new stretch of river in search of some Perch as we have struggled recently to find them. when we arrive the condition of the river and weir pool are about as bad as they could get with water clarity and a very swollen river. But we persevere and find a few nice fish. #finessefishing #lurefishing #perchfishing #perch #fishing #korum #okuma #predatorfish #riverfishing #texasrig #li...

Lure Fishing for Perch and Pike | A Tough Session Fishing the River
Переглядів 2939 місяців тому
Went out for a short session on a local river, conditions weren't great, really high pressure and bright but a lovely day to be out on the bank. Wind started off too strong to present the lures well but it died right off to nothing and then we found a couple of fish. I hope you enjoy the video and leave a comment if you have any ideas for more or any tips you want to give or receive. Thanks, Sam.

Lure Fishing for Perch in a City | Searching Out New Stretches of River to Catch Some Urban Perch

We went in search of new areas of river to catch some Perch in a short session on a very cold day. it started off as -2°C but warmed up when the sun came out. We even had issues casting where the line had frozen solid into the rod rings. But we managed to find a couple of nice #Perch that I got a little over excited about as always. #lurefishing #perchfishing #urbanfishing #lighlurefishing #fin...

Paddel boarders are now fishing there Be busy today Great video
@garyallen8 that's someone who fishes there anyway but he fishes off his board now and then for something different
@@samsfishingchannel 6 of us and the boarder all blanked there this afternoon Crazy there there 1 minute gone the nxt
FFS there's more bass in that shoal than iv caught all year 😂😂😂🎣🐟👊
@bassmasterseliteuk3326 haha mate it was unreal!! Sort of wish I'd fished it but was too good to not see under the water
@@samsfishingchannel great footage mate gives us hope 😜👊🐟🎣
@bassmasterseliteuk3326 the biggest fish in the shoal were pushing 9lb but I couldn't get a shot on them because of all the fish in front of them
Even know I live in Kent in the uk it is till hard 😂
What part of Kent is this I’ve never seen anything like it
May I have the postal code ?
Hi Sam, awesome videos! I am looking to get into free diving, and maybe some spearfishing while I am down there, in Kent. Where are some of the best spots in Kent in terms of marine life and visibility do you reckon, if you are ok to share? Willing to travel around to find the good spots, I am a strong swimmer.
Do you purge them first
No you shouldn't need to as the bit you eat is the muscle and not the filter
💕 Wow💚💚💚💚💙💙💙
Where in Kent is this mate
Great video! Beautiful Pike, well done 👏
Thank you 👍 yeah they were some lovely specimens
That's a nice session! Well done :)
Thank you 👍
Hello mate! I’m looking to get into spear fishing and live in Kent, any tips or advice on where and how to start? Thanks
Hi, yes no problem at all, where in kent are you based?
@@samsfishingchannel from Maidstone but I’m around whitstable or Dover area quite often
@benjibop2892 OK cool, so Dover can be a really dangerous place to dive depending where you go. The only place that doesn't have crazy currents is the East Side of Dover Harbour but its a trek to get down to with your dive gear, but can be good. The closest area to Whitstable end that I know to hold fish and be worth diving is Reculver. Again that doesn't have any crazy currents as a general rule. But the main thing you need to look for is small tides and calm conditions, anything other than that the water won't be anywhere close to clear enough to dive. We only generally get about 20 or so diveable days each summer but it can be very very good for fish and general life down there when it's clear enough
@@samsfishingchannel thank you for that mate! I’m going to carry on doing some research and see if I can justify the purchases! Thank you though mate
@benjibop2892 have you dived before? Or snorkelled etc? If you have and you have a wetsuit and your own snorkeling gear I'd be happy to meet up and show you through some tips etc in a tidal pool near me...it holds lobsters and some fish sometimes and it's a safe place to start and get some basic skills before deciding to buy guns and weight belts etc. It can be a dangerous sport so I'm happy to take you through some stuff
Fantastic fishing Sam 👍🎣🐟
Cheers dude 👍
Absolutely amazing mate 😉👊
Cheers mate, was a dire session until we moved spots
What a great session, 2 cracking pike, did they take the stick bait on the bottom ? They put a right bend in your rod.
Thanks Matt, yes great session after a long quiet start. Stick bait on the bottom with the skirted ned rig/jig head. Fished slow and only in the slacks/Eddie's
Sam looks a nice little spot where are you
Yes both good spots, started off near Ashford and then went to Canterbury free stretches
That was great Sam, nice to see how others approach their fishing, and tackle that they use. How are you finding the Shimano fx reel ? Considering getting one
Glad you liked it, yeah there's so much info out there but sometimes it's brand based so thought it might be worth people seeing. I tend to fish as cheaply as possible lol, I don't know whether that hinders my fishing but I don't believe so. The shimano fx is the first reel I bought for this style of fishing and I've not felt any need to change yet after 3/4 years. Its not the most solid feeling thing but I've had pike up to 13lb on it with 6lb braid and it's performed great for me personally. Drag set is quite responsive and it's super lightweight if you like a light set up. So for the price I'd say its spot on. I have used a fox rage reel in a 1000 size recently and it felt really good too but it's about £40 and the shimano is about £25 I believe
Thanks for info, yeah I find a lot of the videos are brand based and I think they tend to be sponsored anglers promoting products for that company. Nice to see videos like yours based on real views and honest opinions on products. I too tend try and buy cheap, I don't always think there is a need to spend hundreds on tackle etc. Can I ask what braid you use, keep up the good work thoroughly enjoying it
@mattjohnson9143 thank you. Braid is the one thing I don't skimp on because I've had real stressful sessions with wind knots...especially when bass fishing on the coast. I use berkley for all of my fishing, I use Berkley Sick braid for freshwater and use 6 to 10lb. Tend to keep the lighter perch rod on 6 and the heavier one on 10 as use that one for pike sometimes. Then for seabass fishing I use Berkley Nanofil, it's a bit strange as it's not really braid, it has no stretch and reacts the same as braid but it's a single filament, really waxy and absolutely flies through the rod rings. Gives me a good 20 yards extra on the same lures. The knots are a little harder to get right as its waxy feeling and can slip if you use the wrong ones. But I can't recommend that enough if you're doing any long casting on lures
Hi Sam, I have looked at the sick braid and cannot see any in 6lb, do you get 0.06 and the 0.10 sizes which is 12lb and 16lb.
@mattjohnson9143 yes sorry got muddled up with the 6lb and .06 but that's the one 👍
Learning curve mate try some different tactics next time 😉🐟🎣
Great vid mate 🐟🎣👌
Thanks buddy shame about the fishing ay
Really enjoyed this, you done well given the state of the river, my lical river is often coloured so will try these tactics. How have you found the Korum lures have had problems with some going all sticky, brand new ones too
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. The way I see it with that much colour is that those fish still have to feed if the river is like that for more than a couple of days so they must be able to find a bait if you fish it in the right way. Slow and dark with a decent sized lure, not micro stuff seems to have paid off quite a few times now. As for the korum lures, they are 100% my best catchers when finesse fishing, the squirlies and the squirms are great too. I must say I've not had any issue with them at all going sticky, but I have had that happen when they mix with other soft plastics. They are safe to put with other korum lures but not to be mixed with other brands, even the other buoyant ones. I tend to keep them in their packets when out and about or in a lure box in separate compartments. Have you mixed them with others at all?
@samsfishingchannel no not mixed them with any other lures, tackle shop refunded me, will get some more and see how they are. I fish the River Medway and it can be coloured a lot so will definitely try the dark lures.
@mattjohnson9143 what's it like up there for perch? I've tried to find some stuff online but can't find much
@samsfishingchannel I have had Perch to 2lb but not many, mainly fish upper reaches Penshurst area. The section from Maidstone to East Farleigh is free but above is mainly club waters The River Eden is good too,
@mattjohnson9143 nice one, may have to sort out a trip up there in the future
Nice 1 Sam, great fishing mate 👍🎣🐟
Cheers dude, nice to hear you and Keith are having a cracking at them!
@samsfishingchannel I wanna mainly target pike but work and weather is scuppering going, running out of time for this season but 100% ready for July onwards when the bass fishing is slow, I'd love to come along when your free mate 👍🎣🐟
@bassonlures yeah ofcourse mate anytime! Best pike spot is the closest one too which is handy. The perch spots are a bit more dotted about it seems
@samsfishingchannel no worried, I wanna mainly target the pike but the odd perch is just as good, look forward to it mate 👍🎣🐟
Jack Trevally
Now that's a predator!!
Where,s your landing net ??
Near me just didn't use it for the perch encase I lost it I wanted to get it in quickly
Trout
Amazing fishing mate that Perch and Pike were beasts 👏👏🐟🎣
Thanks mate, the perch really took me by surprise, it hit like a pike
@@samsfishingchannel considering it was a new venue, top fishing 🎣🐟👍
@bassmasterseliteuk3326 thanks mate 👍
Isn’t that part of the river club owned?
From talking to the environment agency I believe it to be free fishing. But if it isn't then if you have the contacts that would be great
some nice perch mate sam that stretch is private fishing its owned by chillham mill fly fishing i believe but if u dont get seen you was never there lol good luck mate @@samsfishingchannel
@@jakehall3412 it's not in chillham it's a different weir pool in wye
@@jakehall3412 I think I know the one you mean though as a friend is a member
@troyke3 just out of interest did you think this was the chillham stretch of the river too? Just want to make sure I'm not fishing private areas. This is in wye and been told its free
Seemed fine to me mate 🎣🐟
Great video mate 🐟🎣👍
Cheers mate, don't know why it's uploaded in such poor quality though 😕
nice vid, shame about the 360p quality
Yeah not too sure why it's done that normally does it at 1080 I will look into that thank you 👍
Really good video. 👍
Thank you! Heading back there this morning in search of some more. Hopefully have another video unless it's a blank
Always good to catch a chub or two :) Not a blank!
I agree, shame they were so small but I quite like a chub on a lure
i fish the same stretch there is some nice perch up to 3lb to be had in the weir pools and past the sainsburys other side of the road bridge good video best of luck
Oh really, that's great to know. I have been trying to find out about the area more. Not sure where the weir pools are or how far you can go past sainsbury area. If you ever fancied it, would be great to fish with someone with some local knowledge. I've seen big perch the other side of the city under the road bridge too but haven't been there yet to try.
Have you ever fished Barton Mill? Looks great on satellite pics but not been yet.
yeah there is more jack pike in there than perch i mean could throw up a bigun they have come out before my experience is i always caught alot of jacks even on worm you have to enter the shallow stream downstream and wade up as the banks are private land but if your in the water they cant do anything they own the banks not the water @@samsfishingchannel
More good info thank you. Which weir pools do you mean for the perch if you don't mind me asking? I thought they were all cdaa
@jakehall3412 can you wade under the bridge or is that not where you mean for the private land section
Love Margate lived 15 years wish I was a fisherman then 😢
Where do you live now and do you fish now?
Hi Back in Perth Scotland 🏴, I fish on the River Tay. Only started again last year. Used to fish on a farm in a quarry in St Andrews . Perch . I worked at the Ruby lounge & Caprice nightclub many years ago best time of my life 😂. Love your videos.
That's awesome what an amazing river to be nearby! Haha no way I've probably even bumped into you at some point
Great videos mate, keep it up!
Very kind thank you, I find it very hard to remember to talk whilst I'm actually fishing....and get embarrassed when people are watching and I'm talking to myself 🤣🤣 but really glad you like them 👍
We just like watching you catch bro keep doing what you're doing!
Try glycerine rubbed on your line. It should help to stop freeze ups.
Thanks for the tip I'll definitely keep some in my bag from now on
sup, what reel is it,i have seen it in every uk yt fisherman's tackle and i still try to find it
Hi, it's the Shimano FX 1000. They do it in a few different sizes but I like using a 1000 size for perch, especially in winter when you want a slow retrieve. Angling direct sell them for around £25 it's not the best quality reel out there but it's always done well for me and certainly value for money at that price
Awesome work brother! 👏
Thank you dude
Great video brother! 🔥 Nice Perch there, good fishing! 🎣✌
Thank you, was surprised to find any feeding fish in that weather. But that's perch fishing....they decide when they want to feed and it seems to have no set pattern like a lot of other fish. That's what we have found anyway.
Great vid mate, that bigun is mad
Cheers dude was a fun dive. Gutted no lobsters yet this season but saw and got plenty of nice fish
That lure was mine give it back 😂😂😂
Haha had a few say that 🤣 finders keepers 😆
Awesome mate. That vis!
Cheers dude yeah was a good one
I only can see the silhouette of fish then you have it, well done.
Is this in broadstairs ?
No but only a few miles away
Nice 1 Sam 🎣🐟👍
Nice mate, is that Brighton pier or the west pier ?
Yeah this was the main pier not the old one
Nice one Sam. Great job as usual
