My daughter was accepted into two schools of Arts: SAIC in Chicago and PRATT in New York, which one would be the best? Is she still undecided???? Thanks

Current SAIC student here. Depends entirely on the financial aid package and what her interests are. I'm definitely gonna say go for the place with the bigger aid package because holy moly do you spend a lot of money in school, and financial aid can vary a LOT between programs. Also keep in mind that her cost of living here in Chicago will be a fraction of what it will be in Brooklyn, it's kind of nuts. SAIC is unique in the world because we're pretty much a research institution for fine art. Anything you wanna do you can make it happen here, and we have access to a lot of tools and resources which simply do not exist anywhere else, so its a great place to explore different kinds of art. Pratt is a more specialized program. If she knows that graphic design, illustration, or fashion is her life's calling then she's going to be very happy there They've got a lot of phenomenal opportunity especially being in NYC. Not to say she won't have a lot of the same opportunities in Chicago, but there are more of them in New York just because it's the bigger city.

I was wondering what the classes themselves were like? I’ve seen some videos and some people mention that they felt the “grading” in many classes were biased towards “conceptual” works. What’s your opinion?

Depends on what major and the intensity(higher is better) of the education + success rates of graduates. How many seniors are getting jobs straight outta college and what kind of jobs? You pay 200k just so to become some art teacher? High rolling studio designer at well known studios? However you will always need professionals to look at your work and judge it, that is a must.
