The Peace Pentagon and the Founding Mothers Movement: A Conversation with Laura George
This conversation with Laura George, co-hosted by Anodea Judith and Michael Wayne, is part of the Voices for the Future interview series, voicesforthefuture.org/
The name of this program, The Peace Pentagon and the Founding Mothers Movement, is about a strategic plan to unify women around the world and end war.
As authoritarian rulers wage inhumane wars and nationalist movements celebrate the erosion of basic women’s rights, it is high time to look at the link between women, power, and peace. Who better to feature than Laura George, founder of the Peace Pentagon, who is forming a women’s led movement to shift humanity from dominance and patriarchy to a just and peaceful partnership society.
While this may sound like lofty ideals, Laura George has a strategic plan to achieve these goals through the Founding Mothers Movement, a global, women led coalition for gender equity, world peace, and partnership.
In this conversation, Laura will describe her work with the Peace Pentagon, her conception of the Founding Mothers Movement, and her step-by-step plan to unite women and men all over the world in an effective movement for radical change.
Rev. Laura George, JD, is Executive Director of The Oracle Institute, an educational charity and think-tank that studies the nexus between religion, politics, human rights, and conscious evolution. Oracle offers a wide variety of progressive programs, including a spirituality school, an award-winning publishing house, and international peace practices.
Laura is also a trustee at World Constitution & Parliament Association, a steward at EarthWise Centre, and an active member of the oldest women’s peace group, Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom, as well as a member of the Evolutionary Leadership Council.
She is the author of the award-winning Oracle Trilogy: The Truth, The Love, and The Light, and serves as lead minister at Oracle Temple. Oracle is headquartered at the Peace Pentagon, a training and retreat center located in Independence, Virginia along the New River. Oracle Campus also is home to the Valley of Light micro-community, co-founded by Laura and other cultural creatives. Currently, Laura is helping spearhead the Founding Mothers Movement - a strategic plan to unite women’s groups, manifest gender equity, and end war.

Mr Yarrow is a repeat child sexual abuser. He is largely unrepentant and has never fully acknowledged the incredible harm he did repeatedly to many underage girls.

I love PP&M . I would have never learned guitar and voice if it had not been from them. They were so different in their time. All the other trios were average but the guys with the goatees and Mary's long banged shiny blonde hair were like no other. Also their early guitar works were different. Asoalin is a prime example..

I am a child of the 60's and 70's. I have always been a huge fan of Peter, Paul & Mary's music, as well as many other folk singers and groups. However, I am probably in the minority in that I am more on the conservative side with politics and other issues. I have listened to Joan Baez, Judy Collins and of course their beliefs and causes are for the most part, politically liberal. I am not extremely on the right but maybe closer to the middle. So, maybe it is strange that I can absolutely love folk music more then any other genre but not always of the same page with their political views. Now a lot of country musicians are more conservative politically, (not all of course) but I am not a big country music fan. Just love folk music the most - but not the politics.

Another "BIG THANKS! " to Michael and An idea for arranging and producing this interview of Peter Russell on his 2022 book entitled, "Letting Go of Nothing." Hearing Peter's intention, mindsight, and inferences about this book, his other 10 books, and life journey were very enriching for me! I have been climbing the same "mountain" during my life's journey and, at the age of 72, I think Peter and I have been climbing the same "mountain" albeit in different sides of its peak. Again, thank you, Peter, Michael, and An idea for this enlightening conversation and interview!

1:07:58 UBI Drug and Alcohol goes down "There's actually studies of dozens of unconditional cash programs and the evidence shows that expenditures on drugs and alcohol, and these kind of temptation goods actually go down. I see a lot of this behavior is very much like self-medication. If you're living a very stressful life and you don't see a light in the tunnel situation, it's going to make a lot of sense abuse drugs because that makes life livable if you can fade out from your life a bit. And the evidence shows that it (basic income) actually helps people." ~Scott Santens

Too bad so many of Peter's progressive colleagues and friends never said a word in public denouncing the Soviet Union, yet were so quick to criticize and condemn the United States. Peter's crowd were not "progressive". They were not 'liberal'. They were/are Marxists, and their goal is to increase the size, scope, and power of the Federal Government to implement their agenda. They are anti-Liberal.

Interesting. I do think you guys are generally better off than those of us in other developed nations. My country, the UK, is a strange halfway house between being a social democracy and more like the US. Yes, we have healthcare and education (primary and secondary only) which are free at the point of use but they aren't exactly shining beacons for other nations to follow. They're frankly embarrassing compared to Scandinavia and Germany. The hard truth is that many of us here are simply not willing to pay the extortionate taxes they pay in some European countries to have a better healthcare and education system. I'm not willing to either as I like to have disposable income. I've been to Norway and yes, they have great infrastructure but I couldn't help but notice that even though quite a few people I met earned a lot more than I do, they couldn't afford to shop at the same places because of taxation and high prices. Basically, I seemed to have more money at my disposal. But at least they've made a choice as a society, unlike us. And we will have to make that choice one day because the current situation isn't making anyone feel more content. Honestly? I think I'd rather go the US route even if it has its problems.
