Repotting & Growing Perennials in Pots
Do you recommend cutting them back over the winter?
You can trim them back by about a third or so before you bring them inside. You don’t have to cut them back all the way, but if they’re looking really leggy, you can trim them back more if needed. Hope this helps!
@ thank you
You do alot of non info talking
If you mean I put a lot of words on the screen to try and explain something, I do apologize for that. Sometimes, when I’m editing after I’m done filming, I forget to add something important, so I try and fit it in in a good way as I’m talking. I’m not sure if this is what you meant, but if it means I’m not explaining enough (or using too much filler) I would love to hear your suggestion.
@@BukeyeStateGardening Just be yourself. I enjoyed your video very much.
@@Bons_Eye Practice several times before videoing, or have some main bullet points written out or typed that you want to include. Pretend you are telling this to a good friend.
It makes sense to me that the pansies in pots don't do as well in the winter. A lady I follow on another youtube channel suggests you should choose plants 1-2 zones colder than you live in if you're trying to over-winter plants. So if you live in a Zone 6, try plants hardy to a Zone 4 or 5 if you want to use them in pots. I haven't tried this yet, but it seems sensible, especially considering your experience. Also, I love pansies! My mother was one of 18 children. They were raised on a truck farm in Rocky River OH. My grandfather came to America from Romania with a pocket full of special pansy seeds his family had created. I believe they were purple with yellow faces. Their main source of income was selling flats of pansies! It's quite an amazing story.
@@itsmommy100 That is such an interesting & beautiful story! Thank you so much for sharing!
Will cats like to eat lilies?
I don’t think they are inherently attracted to lillies, but because cats are naturally curious, it’s best to keep them out of their reach.
Loving my asters! I just started growing a couple years ago. The native asters are also an important host plant for some butterflies! Have you ever tried growing any from the seeds they produce?
Glad you love them! Especially on the single varieties, the pollinators love them! I have not personally tried growing them from seed. I’ve read that they can be a little finicky to grow from seed (unless they reseed themselves, which the native ones can do).
Those asters are so beautiful 🌸🌝👍 I love to grow them in my garden as well.
So sorry to hear about Coconut!!!! Love all your beautiful sections of the garden, everything looks so vibrant even on a rainy day!
Thank you so much for your kind words! He really was my little buddy, and I will always miss him. I’m glad you enjoyed all the blooms!
Thank you so much for your kind words! He really was my little buddy, and I will always miss him. I’m glad you enjoyed all the blooms!
I watched your video on never plant a silver maple. My old neighbor planted one that is probably 4 ft from their property line now. It's very tall and much of it is growing to the east, over our yard and the highest branches over our roof. I would like it removed. My ? Is why do you have 2 of them and why haven't you taken them down?
@@Lightfinn I actually have three all around the house, and I never actually planted them in the first place(they were already fully grown when I moved here.) Unfortunately, they are too expensive at the moment for me to have them removed, as much as I would like them to be.
Could you do a clip on maintenance and pest control please. For example yellow leaves and brown pot on Lily buds. Love your Lillies by the way, especially the pink ones!
@@MinhNguyen-mp4pv I’ll see what I can do.
Beautiful! I just bought a few small plants at Home Depot. I'm in Houston, zone 9A and hope they last for years to come.
I hope they do to! Enjoy your new plants!
Beautiful Asters … love them ❤❤❤
Thanks!
Good morning ! Your new friend from Southern California, Gardening Zone 10-A Subs # 64
Welcome to the channel! Glad to have you!
Beautiful can we still plant asters in the ground and pot now to become perennial or its too late? But yours are beautiful
It’s not too late! Fall is actually a great time to plant lots of things! However, depending on your climate, I would recommend getting them in the ground before mid-October or so. Hope this helps!
The light pink lilie could be „Elodie“
Absolutely beautiful!

Is mint a mice repellent?
I’m not sure, but it might be considering its strong aroma (think marigolds for example). However, me planting marigolds around my strawberry patch didn’t seem to work, however that might be just me. Thanks for watching!
Hi Dear, I saw your UA-cam channel video and understood that Very nice video. You have only 17 subscribers and videos are not more watched and subscribers because your video is not SEO. I have analyzed and realized that your UA-cam channel is not progressing and improving. It is responsible for: 1. Channel videos are not properly SEO 2. Videos are not reaching the people 2. There is no rank tag in the Video 3. Video SEO score is 00 out of 100 but SEO score should be 90+ to rank video 5. Channels tags not good quality 6. No video tag and other technical problems Do you want all the problems solved? I can help you.
nice video buddy
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it!
How many years did it take for the 3 darwin tulip bulbs to multiply into 17 blooms? Great tour, I loved seeing all the blooms :)
I planted those bulbs in October of 2021, so about 3 years or so. I do try to fertilize them with bone meal at least once every year when their shoots are a few inches high or so (and preferably again right after they’re done blooming). I’m glad you enjoyed the tour, and seeing all the blooms! They really do make me smile!
@@BukeyeStateGardening Thanks, btw, you should try to plant some crocus "sieberi tricolor" next fall. They are jaw dropping, 100x prettier than standard dutch crocus. I planted 60 last fall and I have a huge show in front of my house. :)
@@Gladioli10 Sounds gorgeous! I’ll have to look into those!
