Analyzing Willem Dafoe in American Psycho
I do not own the rights to American Psycho or anything associated with it. This video is not monotized and is made for educational purpouses only.

Is the detective real?
Dafoe looks 10x the psycho Bale ever did.
Everyone was insanely nuts in this film lmao
Is Dafoe is even real ?? I think that patrick invented him or not.
Bateman never killed anyone except in his mind. So the detective would have sensed that he was sitting in the presence of a calculating killer even though he actually wasn't. Bateman would set off the detective's whistles and bells, but then the evidence of Bateman's innocence would make the detective feel silly for thinking it.
Great movie, a classic
The Green Goblin asks the Batman about the alleged death of the Joker, how ironic.
Toilet seat was missing? Wtf was that
its not Willem sleeping under your bed like family guy implied.. its kevin spacey
great work on willems part mixing suspicion with him not suspecting anything
Omg to "black sounding"
4:31 this felt more “aware” because it seems a bit taunting rather than being oblivious
My son Harry still thinks I’m Santa Claus
Bro dropped this one video then bounced.
Patrick, I don't know man... you've been seeming little sus lately...
Green goblin interrogates Batman for the whereabouts of Joker
I can't believe it took until my mid 30s to realize this is one of the funniest comedies ever made. The first time I watched this I thought it was a thriller. Low IQ shit.
For me it's gone from crime thriller to horror, to edgy thriller, thriller to an excellent satire, satire to comedy, comedy to now laugh out loud, now I'm at utter bliss of the art that is every scene in this movie. That's from watching this first at the age of 17 and now I'm 39
Could you maybe give me a link to the three takes shown separately?
The only thing that could make this better if they made Bale wetter throughout the scenes they share
Real detectives during investigations will use similar strategies when they have concrete evidence that the suspect is guilty. They will allow them to think they dont know so that the suspect will continue talking and make statements contradictory to the evidence. Then they will do a 180 to catch the suspect off guard and illicit a confession
Feels like LA noir the way your character would randomly go from super friendly to suddenly accusing and yelling at some poor rando
I just love how sweaty and uncomfortably nervous Bale is. He does a great job of looking miserable
source: trust me bro
Patrick Batmean
His voice tone actually changes from one to another. Never noticed that detail, it's awesome.
4:35 Is where i heavaly disagre! Id say this is when he shows he is the most aware hinting to that he knows something Bateman dont! Like he strongly suspect something happend at batements flat. It may be the reason the investigater was there in the first place. The investigator on the hunt for paul assosiates went asking around in secret people around f eks neighbors of any discreppancies at the time, and he got noted of some faint screaming one night and Hewey Lewis and the news playing superloud. And then he flashes the album in his face to see how he reacts. BRILLIANT
To me, the ‘oblivious’ seemed the most suspicious. It reminded me of Christopher Waltz in Tarantino movies
This was a genius move from the director
who schedules a interview over a steak dinner
The whole 3 takes thing seems like nonsense to me
I’m not a big fan of sequels but I feel like these two would be able to continue this story
I love how the movie kept the theme that everyone was so shallow and self-obsessed that they couldn't even remember their own work colleague's names. It really adds to what Bateman was feeling like, being invisible
They are talking in past tense. "What kind of man WAS he". Sounds like Willem are trying to see if he reacts on it. Instead Bateman reacts with speaking the same way, in past tense.
Ive probaably watched too much JCS or EWU but you got to appreciate the attention to detail in Bales performance... obciously the sheen is makeup but still it portrays stress. hes closed up, Elbows tight doing things to maintain the facade of calm ( salting his steak and not breaking eye contact) - excessively at that. doubling back on his own statements and repeating.
Not to mention the self soothing and leading statements in order to mislead the detective during his investigation... Its worth noting that at no point is he detained, read his rights so unless he has a wire, Bateman could lean in.. admit to everything (provided there was MO, Body of proof or physical evidence) and smirk the whole thing off in trial
Me personally I think when he says “I understand” he’s aware. But that’s just me
I think the detective was also a psychopath.
"YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I'VE SACRIFICED!"
BUT - doesn't that convo with Davis' lawyer at the end of the film confirm that Paul Allen is actually alive? If so, how would Kimball "know" that he was murdered?
Maybe Kimball was all in Patrick head? Becoming delusional throughout the week. We only know what Patrick knows. We only see what Patrick sees. He’s left with guilt and maybe a psychotic breakdown we don’t know if he killed anyone before, so if this was the true first couple murders, some of them might be fabricated by Patrick.
I thought when he picks up the CD that is AWARE.. He smiles and looks like he's almost "acting oblivious" to get a reaction out of Patrick
This scene is insane watching it after reading the comic
Legendary Seen...... A masterpiece
I just imagine a fantasy world where I understand the description at the beginning.
If this is true, it's genius. Also explains how I felt during the interrogations.
Green Goblin and Gorr The God Butcher dialogue
Bro rlly said huey sounded "too black" after saying he went to "Oh Africa Brave Africa" bruh
Maybe I am just crazy but when the "Oblivious" marker appears Willem Dafoe looks more menacing than in any other act.
W willem dafoe
what a masterpiece
“That’s not the information I received.” Had Patrick just let him finish his sentence, he would’ve gotten the info that he was told at their dinner, but was too antsy to try and cover his tracks.
