Remo Scherrer is born 1986 in Switzerland. He currently lives and works in Mexico. He studied Animation 2D and made his masters in Film at the HSLU in Lucerne (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts). His first short film “WHATEVER THE WEATHER” (2016) celebrated its world premiere at the Cinéfondacion of the Cannes Film Festival, won awards at various major festivals and made it to the long list of academy awards (AMPAS).

The animated short follows a shepherd diligently tending to his sheep as the harsh winter intensifies, and supplies dwindle. In a moment of inadvertence, the shepherd loses complete control over his flock. As he struggles, nearing the end of his strength, it is ultimately the flock that provides him warmth and solace. Metanoia means spiritual repentance, change of heart, conversion. Perhaps this film shows that metanoia isn't always something you can control. When it first happens to you, it seems to destroy your whole world as you know it. But once you come to terms with it, you recognize yourself in the change. You realize it was something you did choose.

Interesting if somewhat obscure. What turned the world into a wasteland? Why is the last 60 seconds mostly black? What's the message - be kind to aliens? How did the tiny thing get so gigantic? How does the title connect to the story? I feel like I'm missing something ...
