Here's a clip from the first War Master boxset from Big Finish, showing the the Master use the Chameleon Arch to escape the Time War following the use of the Heavenly Paradigm.

I love how big finish 100% expect Jacobi to be a one time thing but now he’s their biggest range besides the main doctor who line

@@plantainsame2049 It's so successful I haven't heard it about it once, and the regeneration was the worst part about the Christmas Specials. When they go on a hiatus, then when someone who actually loves the lore runs the show that's when it'll be revived. Til then this show is in a coffin.

The emperor is definitely the scariest due to hus unhinged god complex. Other Daleks, whilst still foolishly believing in their superiority over all other beings, still have an awareness that they are just normal creatures. The Emperor has forgotten that. His insanity driven by his loneliness from the Dalek extinction coupld with the guilt of creating a race of self-loathing bastard Daleks has led to his delusions of godhood that lead him to commit atrocities even other Daleks would show restraint from commiting. Even as he is confronted by an actual god, he refuses to concede his delusions until he is reduced to nothing more than dust. It was the only way anyone could have stopped him.

I always assumed that Yana being an orphan found in the storm was a made up memory by the chameleon arch like the ones the Doctor had as John Smith. Interesting finding out that his incarnation was literally reverted to a baby.
Yes I thought that too. It was obviously a made up story. This is a bit too literal.
@@RichardTLDRoddly enough, Big Finish thought the memory was a false one too, but Russell T Davies was very insistent that the memory Yana has of being found as a child was meant to be real, so he was initially hesitant about Big Finish making a series with Jacobi as the Master. However, once they were able to find a way to make it work and explained it to Russell, he was more than happy for the series to be made. I believe it’s a key reason that the first box set of The War Master released was the end of his story, so they could get the explanation out of the way.
There's something very satisfying about the way he says "Doctor"
3:51 shouted almost word for word by Rassilon during the Time War. Come to think of it, Rassilon and the Dalek Emperor sound very similar at times - it goes to show that the line between Time Lords and Daleks really thinned during the war.

Once again, both sides became indistinguishable from one another and that's why the Doctor had to destroy them. Stevie boy wonder fucked it all up.
My favourite Dalek emperor design is the original 60s version but this version is my favourite voice and characterisation of the emperor. I love how he is the literal embodiment of the term God complex. He acts as a madman laying upon the ruins of his fallen empire, rising from the ashes. The way Nick differentiates the emperor’s voice is beautifully done, he feels grand and intimidating and a worthy opponent to the Doctor. I also love that the Emperor taunts the Doctor with the Deltawave because, he knows the Doctor is too cowardly to destroy Daleks and Humans together. This Dalek became so iconic and he only has about just over 4mins of screen time. It really highlights the impact that this character made on us to still be remembered today. xx

In a multi-layered plot to take over the universe where only he would rule (and ultimately escape the Time War) the Master *not only* ensured the victory of the Daleks... but was so horrified - and scared - by what he'd done that he fled to the end of time This is the event - this 'plan' that went wrong - that turned the Time War from a 'War' into 'Hell' - this birthed the could-have-been-king - the nightmare child - the skaro degredations - *he helped all of that happen* by feeding paradox energy into the Heavenly Paradigm - and then drove it insane by ordering it to create a 'perfect universe' It's funny He wanted to create a better universe - a perfect universe... an almost 'Doctorish' desire ended up ensuring the success of the most wicked and evil creatures *ever*

A disturbing concept of messing with time and space. Playing with the threads of the universe has extremely chaotic consequences.
I often wonder what would've happened if the Emperor met the New Dalek Paradigm.

There's a theory that this Dalek Emperor is the same one from Evil of the Daleks, who is in turn the same Dalek that gives the speech at the end of Genesis. If true, then the Emperor is one of the oldest beings in the Galaxy.
I personally subscribe to this idea and it makes this story so much more impactful. If you look through the Dalek timeline, the amount of near-death experiences and actual death + resurrection makes his "I am immortal" line feel SO chilling.

I love how the master unintentionally made it so that the daleks won the time war.
If the Daleks were capable of humour, they'd be laughing their tentacles off.
But they didn't they lost So did the time lords Both races still exist but they're Less than a shadow of what they were Only one person really won
The Daleks didn’t win though. The Time Lords and the Daleks were locked in a constant stalemate. It’s why the War Doctor opted to use the Moment on both sides. The Time War could not be won, only ended.

Killing off the emperor so soon was such a waste, he had the making of a perfect ongoing adversary for the dr on par with the master.

The Dalek Emperor first appeared in 1966, so he'd been around for about 40 years before his death in The Parting of Ways. I'd hardly call that a premature killing-off.

What? no. Missy regenerated into the lumiat, no one knows where dhawan fits, maybe after the lumiat.
@@Joleyn-Joy Missy didn't regenerate at all though. She just dies. Only Simm's wound allowed him to regenerate, but Simm hit Missy with a blast that wouldn't allow her to regenerate. They said so in the scene.

I find it interesting that the chameleon arch has the capability to revert the time lord into a child if the scenario calls for the time lord to go unnoticed for an extended period of time.
its kind of ironic that one of the only times the master tried to do something good he inadvertently ended up making things a million times worse
When does this happen in relation to the other box sets then, from the Master's perspective? Do the following box sets take place before this story?
Yes. The first box set is chronologically the last. I think this was done to explain why Jacobi’s Master was in the Time War, but still found as a human child as Yana. The producers did make it clear that Russell T Davies was initially hesitant about the series, as he didn’t think Jacobi’s Master was in the War, but when they gave him an explanation that worked, he was 100% for it.

All of these amazing quotes helps me to understand his potential and beneficial proposition in order to bring back the lost civilization of their homeworld and the species who better off thriving in the galaxy than utter suffer then defeat. "Patience, my brethren. They survived through me. We have waited here, in the dark space. Damaged but rebuilding. Centuries passed and we quietly infiltrate the systems of earth. I reached into the dirt and made new life; I am a God of all Daleks! The planet will become my temple and we shall rise! This will be our paradise! You are the heathen, you will be exterminated!" I wanted him to live forever after this moment, saying these things towards friend and foe of how much he sacrifices he had done only hoped to survive. I would name him; Aethuseus. Aethuseus the Enthusiastic Titan. A Spark in the Abyss. A Voice for Reason. A Creative Mind for Hope.

It would be so cool if they brought back the Dalek Emperor, either through a new one being appointed, or by this one being written to have been banished to the vortex and then escaping or something

They should bring back the Emperor at a point in time far before its death, scheming and plotting before it came to Earth. Then it would truly be undefeatable by force.

It’s the Master I believe. In Utopia, he mentions that he was a child found abandoned with his only possession being the watch so I’m guessing this is what he meant by it

My least favourite Doctor Who character is Chan tho because she killed the War Master. He deserved so much more.
To be fair, she probably saved the universe with that single gunshot. If the War Master was unleashed upon the post time war universe, then there’s no telling the carnage he would’ve wrought.
