I'm a fiber artist (maybe), with a variety of interests ( ie. knit, crochet, weave & spin ).. Kind of like a "Jill of all Trades" and always up to learn something new..... so why not woodturning.
Eventually, I'd like to be able to turn parts for older spinning wheels.
Disclaimer: I am not an expert and these videos are just my attempts at learning new things

This is my second attempt at turning an egg..... Don't ask how the first came out! I hope this will show some Newbies, that we all in this together.

Tell me more about the Weaver,,,Candace Crockett,….please
Excellent tutorial ❤
This is gold 😮 thank you for sharing this.
Good to have access to such an older video.
Great tutorial. I thank you very much for initiating me into this new craft.
Dumb question: do the size of the cards or the number of them determine the width of the project? Size doesn't matter, right?
The size of the cards doesnt, the amount of them does. Smaller cards simply give you less space to move your shuttle in between, so you dont want to go too small. And the more cards you use and the thicker the yarn, the wider the project will be.
After watching this presentation I can now understand how things work, thank you.
i have a wooden one, they're neat little thingies. :D
Wonderful class, thank you.
What wonderful class!! Thank you, thank you and blessings.
Thsnk you!
This is an exceptionally good tutorial. Excellent video work and very helpful detail. Thank you for your superb work. God Bless.
What a wonderful video! Thank you for sharing it. I’m finally getting the gist of card weaving! Thank you so much ❤
Bonjour ,avec vingt cartes vous avez combien de centimètres de largeur ? Merci .votre video est très intéressante
This is so cute!!!!
great
A bit confusing that she in the beginning talks about front to back and then it is left to right...
Holy shit, how the hell are people supposed to listen to you with loud thumb piano over your words. Madness.
Hello, i don't speake english, please in sapanish language traducción. Thanks very much. God bless you
Never wear gloves when operating a lathe. Never wear a long sleeved shirt when operating a lathe. Unless you don't want hands or arms any longer.
Amazing tutorial and intro! Thanks for sharing this vid! I love card weaving so much!!! So much love
a little constructive suggestion... please take the background music away. It adds nothing to the content and almost made me leave before it stopped.
Dude this is a vhs from 1985
@@ZakKohler in that case, no need to subscribe. ;o)))
What are you talking about? I love the video. I'm merely commenting on the ridiculousness of giving "constructive feedback" about background music which was added almost 40 years ago.
Thank you Starting to understand structure.
Thank you so much. Watched several times answered so many questions. Best ever instruction
Absolute Best instruction I’ve ever seen. Thank you for your generosity. Answered so many questions. Thank you
Your tutorial makes card weaving seem possible. I watched a gal do this once, about 4 years ago at the local county fair, and it seemed too complicated. But your directions are so clear and understandable - thank you.
Thank-you, this is so informative!
Saying 'always' about how to thread is erroneous... Always on THIS pattern, OK. Not ALWAYS, though.
Finally someone that explained card weaving in a way I can understand it and don't feel intimidated. This video is awesome!
c'est une très bonne explication Merci.
Thanks for sharing this, Pat Cumming! Instructor Candace Crockett is legend! I came here after watching Morgan Donner make a card woven hem on a 15th century gown, I’d never heard of card/tablet weaving! Human creativity is glorious
Thank you! How do you deal with twist build up in patterns where the cards are individually turned in uneven sequence?
I like your vids! ❤️ You deserve more views. Do you know of promosm!? It’s a great tool for growing your channel!
I had the most fun weaving using this tutorial. My belt turned out wonderfully and I had so much fun playing around with different patterns. Great tutorial.

She is the Bob Ross of tablet weaving!
Hello! I would like to ask if there is a big difference if the cards have a slightly different shape. Must they be square and can I use rectangular ones if I can't find any square ones?
rectangular cards are harder to turn and the shed created is uneven.Theyll also take up more warp in the manipulation during weaving. Square cards are better in this case. Why can you not just trim the rectangles? you can also make cards from playing cards, cut to shape....very simple.
@@catzkeet4860 Thank you, I think I'll do something like that!
Thanks for the very clear demo! Would like to know if it is possible to know if Candace Crockett is still alive?
- set up your threads for horizontal stripes 6:40 - check card threading 7:34 - change card threading direction (flipping) 7:58 - check the thread's width/spread 8:40 - make thicker stripes 10:00 - for wider stripes reverse turning direction 11:19 - dark threads on top, light threads on bottom (reversible weave) 12:48 - angle patterns (notching) 14:52 - zigzag 18:20 - diamond 19:06 - undo a row mistake 24:05 - choose weave pattern 26:57 - stitch the weaving 28:10 - avoid bulky folds and lining 31:17
Thank heavens -- that over cooked music stops about 1:25 into the video. It is much, much clearer after that.
Thanks for the comment, I was going to close the video because I utterly hate instructional videos with background music.
Thanks so much can I ask what yarn you are using x
Helpful video, well explained
Glad it was helpful!

The generously dimensioned thread holes for pulling in the warp threads and the handy format of 55 x 55 mm and only 0.8 mm thick make tablet weaving an experience. The boards are unbreakable, do not wear out and are of course rust-proof. Not only ideal for beginners in board weaving: The beveled A-corner helps enormously when counting rows and makes it very easy to check whether all boards are in the correct position. Two and three small bores clearly and permanently mark the B, C and D corners. Too much background noise! I had a hard time hearing some of it!

@@grannysquared7140 you really are a troll aren't you!
The music is a bit loud in the intro, but that ends a couple minutes in when the lecture part actually starts.

I wonder if the mess up was intentional or not at 29:00. I am kind of glad it was shown though. Sucks when everything goes perfect in tutorials. Edit: So there are a couple of mess-ups here, and I am actually really thankful for them lol. It shows that perfection is not going to happen the first time, even if you are a professional.
Yes, I like how she points out the errors, how to fix them, and what to look out for. - 1 section (stitch, notch) is off 35:49 - which hole on the card is which color on the top of the weave by rotation direction 41:59 - running out of thread 45:58 - change the patter sequence 49:33
