It does actually 😄 when I need something from that pile, I just pick it up and use. Most of it is for crafting and since (for now?) the only storage box is in my room in the lodge on one of the planets, I have no other option than drop it all there for later use. Or for sale, to earn more credits. Maybe there is another way but I haven’t discovered it yet 😊
