In response to one of the comments period. You didn’t see Prince do this in Lakeland and 82 or 83. I have that video as well. The time hadn’t even written this record yet. They didn’t tour with prints on Purple Rain. Jam & Lewis were out of the band after the second record. And didn’t play on any of it. And so Jerry Hubbard, the bass player in the movie Purple Rain didn’t even play on that. It was Rocky Harris who’s playing based on this version of the song. Who was kicked out of the band before the movie so there’s no way you could’ve heard them play a song that they hadn’t written yet because purple rain didn’t come out until five the soundtrack was done at 84.

I saw the time do this at a prince concert in Lakeland FL 1982/1983 Lakeland civic center. Vanity six opened.
