    I loved reading your blog before and watching the videos afterwards. It brought me the rest partly missing understanding due to the reading. But I couldn't find an answer depends on bladesizes. Can I just take a larger paddle blade instead of tennis balls to internalize the technique with slow movements and then switch to a smaller paddle blade to have faster movements. Is it a mistake to take a one size smaller blade as the manufacturer generally recommends for my weight. Or can't I catch my weight and "fall on my board" with a to smal blade during a far and strong catch?

    • @PaddleMonster
      @PaddleMonster Місяць тому

      Changing your blade size won't do the same thing as using resistance from the tennis ball setup. These are all big questions. Reach out to Larry on the Site in Messages and he can give you some more specific guidance with your training.

    Thank you for this! Living up here in New England along with working full time definitley makes winter SUP training non-existant. I just started getting out on the water about a month ago...looking forward to my first race of the season in 2 weeks. I will definitley be checking out your strategies for training.

    No mention of the elbow position on the upper arm? It is relatively straight in the catch but becomes more bent in the power phase. In my interpretation, this means that you are relying, at least partially, on muscling through the power phase but missing out on some of the leverage power of body weight - which is most effectively transferred to the paddle via arm rigidity, and which should be thought of as directed perpendicularly to the water.

    Great video coach. Would you say many paddlers simply have their paddle to short at fist above head height? Looking at your video, should the shaft be at arm extended overhead height? Thanks

    • @martin.feuchtwanger
      @martin.feuchtwanger 6 місяців тому

      I'd say many paddlers tend to have their paddle too long (often based on old-school training) and at risk of shoulder injury. Here, Coach appears to have a very long paddle, or high upper hand, in my opinion, because his blade is never under water (his floor). In real life, his blade would be burried in water and hence his top hand would be much lower.
