Planting Deer Corn Food Plot With Earthway Seeder
Переглядів 96Місяць тому
Getting the corn in the ground. Hopefully we get some help from mother nature! The Earthway seeder worked well but the ground needs to be worked up better for it to do a good job. It was tough pushing it through my plot, and so i had to go back over each row with my feet kicking up dirt over the seeds to get enough of a planting depth. The experiment continues!

      Is he wearing black while in the blind? If he is wearing black, and sitting with his back to the blackout wall, i cant see how they would be seeing him inside. Or is he saying he is being spotted from the sides where he doesn't have the windows open to shoot from? Does he have any of the side windows open that may lead to him being silhouetted from the other side?

      @nota_verygood_huntingchannel He is wearing camo and all other windows closed under a tree but the tree does not provide a lor of shade. Do you recommend wearing black clothing so you blend in with the blackout wall?

    • @nota_verygood_huntingchannel
      @nota_verygood_huntingchannel 2 місяці тому

      Yes I usually try to wear black as much as possible (black hoodie over my jacket and black gloves and facemask) so that from the front open window there is much less chance of being spotted against the black backdrop. And sit as far back from the open window as is possible. But since he is whitetail hunting he may also be getting busted from smell. Which is making the deer focus more of their attention on the blind than they normally would be maybe?

    • @nota_verygood_huntingchannel
      @nota_verygood_huntingchannel 2 місяці тому

      @tomkearns6830 the gas tank is built in on those small outboards. It weighs about 40lbs. It pushes it along fairly well and the boat sits fine in the water and it sits pretty flat if i sit slightly forward of the tiller handle (which is natural anyways). I fit all my decoys inside with my gun and blind bag tucked inside the space in the hull. I also have the decoys piled up ontop of each other in decoy bags. I had 10-12 mallards and 2 full sized canada geese decoys in there with me.

    We actually have a wma very close too us, during big duck season they close it because there is draw hunts for the duck blind areas. So basically 95 percent of my deer season is done before December. Mind u duck season and goose are my favorite anyhow tho. Another option would be looking for deer leases around you. If u can actually find a cheap one that is. SouthEast TN has a ton of rednecks so quality hunting is rare. Good thing about duck hunting tho is nobody can own the river. So good luck buddy with everything. I know its aggrevating but something good could come out of it.

    Sheesh. That’s why you only load BP in these. I had the best and most consistent results with BP in the .455, and never had good luck with Unique at all. I have no idea why it’s so popular. That short case is very sensitive to even slight changes in seating depth. Also, keep in mind that the revolver is likely made from iron, not steel. When the British army switched from BP to smokeless, even the Webley Mk. I needed a hardened breech plate installed to cope with the extra battering from the smokeless loads. I had a Snider Enfield rifle that had been used with smokeless loads, and the shoe had actually stretched a bit. Again, malleable iron.

    I feel dumb asking this cause i think i see the answer but worth asking i guess. Do you think it would be sufficient to bring s dog with you? So just you and the dog hunting? Im debating what i wanna do this summer. The front of this looks likenitsba gripped ladder for a dog to come back up in etc.

    • @nota_verygood_huntingchannel
      @nota_verygood_huntingchannel 4 місяці тому

      It would have to be a small dog for sure. I barely have room to fit 2 big goose decoys, and a dozen mallards (4 are just the bottoms-up style) plus my blind bag and shotgun. So if you went with very few decoys, or found a way to strap them to your back, then a small dog would probably fit sitting down during the ride. Once you get to hunting he would probably fit between your legs. As far as the front ramp, yes it sits right into the water but not too deep, so i don't know how well a dog would be able to climb into it. The front paws wouldn't be an issue but you would most likely need to sit up and stretch out front to help pull it in by the collar maybe. The boat is super sturdy so that is do-able. Sorry I can't be of more help!

    Your Sitka 330 merino is basically a 220 merino with a layer of synthetic fleece on the inside, this is why it feels so thin, and not like other brands who are in the 350 range, that 330 isn’t a true 330 merino. It’s barely thicker than the 220 merino.

    • @nota_verygood_huntingchannel
      @nota_verygood_huntingchannel 5 місяців тому

      I know what you mean, yes the hole to place the 22 cartridge into is not centered in the insert. No matter which way you rotate, the rim is always struck as it is off-center to the firing pin. I have tried several orientations and it still requires 2 strikes. Seems like the pocket that the 22 sits in is slightly too deep that the first strike seats it and the second strike actually punches it enough to fire. But again, will try it in another shotgun to see, along with different ammo to see if some rims are more sensitive than others. Thanks for watching! 🤙

      Good idea! I haven't needed to use the cover much but i hadn't thought about what high winds could do to it!

    If you lived in the Midwest and worked outside and had to choose one would you buy the kiln or the furnace?

    • @nota_verygood_huntingchannel
      @nota_verygood_huntingchannel 6 місяців тому

      If i was moving and working i'd go with the kiln because it is lighter, the furnace would probably be too hot and just be a giant soaked heap by the end of the day. Thanks for watching! 🤙

    What reason for black wrapped around tree? seems like be a big black blob for deer to focus on easier.i have same tere bog pod im on a hill same issue.

    • @nota_verygood_huntingchannel
      @nota_verygood_huntingchannel 6 місяців тому

      That particular tree has really jagged bark. Black cherry. So because my tree stand has a very short backrest, i didnt want my shoulders rubbing against the bark making a bunch of noise. So i wrapped it to make it more quiet. You don't see it when i'm sitting in the stand (except for the back but i was expecting deer coming infront as they make their way behind me to the orchard). Thanks for watching!! 🤙

    Have you ever noticed when you record turning on with the remote that when you play video back has a ticking sound in video

      Yes sometimes i do! But i noticed it only when the remote is close by. If the camera is a few feet away, there is no noise.

    As a bow only hunter, do the windows in the TideWe go down far enough to get an arrow out when sitting in a chair?

    • @nota_verygood_huntingchannel

      I use a crossbow on a bogpod sitting down in a blind chair and to me the windows seem to open up plenty. 👍

      @jasonuhl , Why would you? It's just another type of weapon for hunting... Don't forget, when compounds first came on the market, they were dissed by some trad weapon hunters for reducing the human challenge with technology. Crossbows are very similar to compounds in that they both use cables and pulleys, magnified sights, reduction in holding pressure at full draw, and a trigger release. Both require way less practice than a trad bow to reduce human error; by design and manufacturing. IMHO, let hunting be a weapon of choice, not of popularity or social pressure.

    Is it going to be too warm to wear on a spring turkey hunt? Early November whitetail hunt?

    • @nota_verygood_huntingchannel
      @nota_verygood_huntingchannel 8 місяців тому

      Where I hunt early november is usually low single digits (celsius) in the morning, so by itself it wouldn't be enough as an outer layer. Spring turkey it should be good but it won't stop the wind (here the season starts april 25 and its still quite cold in the mornings). I have only used this as a layering piece because the temps are usually lower during my hunts.
