vickers semi auto
Переглядів 552 місяці тому
In this video I discuss the vickers machine gun. The customer brought in a semi auto rebuild that was having some feeding issues. I located the problem (not in video) which was some burrs on the elevator, and then took it shooting. Remember this is a semi auto rebuild. I hope you enjoy.

    Picking my A300 up next week, thanks for this video! After removing the safety and flipping it, anything we need to know to get the detent and spring seated correctly when re-installing the set screw?

    Bro I just bought a 1100 2 days ago and I decided to clean it today and it was so nasty almost like the one you got in your hands and I’m surprised that gun still working it took me about 3 hours to clean it

      thats not uncommon. Just remember to use a tool to clean the inside receiver it might have a sharp part that will cut you.

    Oh yeah, the 30 round mags that were developed for the M2 have a flat back on the feed ramp that holds the bolt open after the last round.

    I know im late to the party but im a new subscriber who recently inherited an M1 carbine. I would love to see a vid on the bolt being broken down and also the history behind it. Thanks for the info. Did you wind up taking it hunting?? I've seen some with white paint on the butstock to number them in the armory.

    • @thekiltedgunsmith
      @thekiltedgunsmith 2 місяці тому

      I did take it hunting but was only able to go one day for about 3 hrs. lol As far as a complete teardown of the bolt I'll see what I can do. I've got a few things in the works right now and need to also do a much more in-depth video on the history. Also welcome to the channel where I suck at technology but I try my best lol

      The magazine cut-off allows the chamber to be unloaded to change loads without cycling a shell from the magazine. This is useful when hunting different bird species and different loads are instantly required

    Hey brother, great information as always. Just wanted to echo your thoughts on tools, This in my opinion is the biggest expensive in our industry, weather it's a lathe or a punch set, It's tough to start out buying high quality tools but will definitely pay off in the long run. Companies like Grace, Forster, Gunline and Brownells are invaluable for these one off specialized tools. I would like to add that as new gunsmith come into the business, it's important to remember not to get overwhelmed. Take your time and add to your tools as needed.

    Great video, very accurate. I am a MGS graduate and like everything else it only IS what you make of it. Their program is inexpensive but also outdated. It had too much info on old air rifles and nothing on some of the more popular firearms. They give very little feedback on your projects and they do not use videos at all. MGS is ok to find out if gunsmithing is for you, but if you consider yourself a gunsmith just because you have that diploma from MGS then you will be in for a rude awakening. BTW I am in the process of fine tuning my stock duplicator now, it is just a small, cheap one...but seems to do a decent job. Thanks for all that you do for the industry, it is much appreciated.

I got it together and firing in about 45 minutes but that was pretty simple and i had all the parts i wouldnt even want to touch that nightmare you have there. 😂

    I've started using a vinegar/alcohol mixture to break up gunk and grime. A little baking soda helps a lot also. If it's really bad I have soaked the parts in berrymans b12. That seems to really break up the sludge.

    Okay for the record that gun has been atrociously neglected and the owner that shoots it regularly until it can't function proper just needs to NOT own any guns at all !!! It's one thing if a gun owner can't physically or have the knowledge of cleaning his or her guns is bad enough but to just shoot shoot and neglect proper maintenance to one's firearms is unacceptable !!
